That’s what I’m thinking, supers will add more depth to the game, but smash players won’t have it, it seems. You can turn on/off individual items, right? I think turning on supers items only would be dope. But you know it’ll never happen. Hell it seems like most of these players on smashboards would say a fireball trap in ST is cheap lmao.
Like mario’s super fireball, once he gets the item, couldn’t you climb to the top of the screen and use up+special and double jumps to get over it and punish him? I think the different supers would add interesting space control games to smash.
You can still play with items. Just remove the problem items. Guns, Hammer, Healing ( except the little foods ) , star, and Pokeballs.
The other items would help balance the game. Bowser could be helped by being able to throw items to make up for his terrible speed. Ice Climbers using two items at once is what they were made for.
Banning all the items because it makes it random is retarded, the real solution would be banning some of the items, the items which cause all the problems. Not playing in some of the stages ( the deep blue one, the metroid one, poke floats for example ) makes sense, but banning all of them but like 4 ? That’s retarded.
Smash is a great game, but the community is dumb as hell.
Supers just wouldn’t work in Smash. I personally LOVE the fact that they’re in there, they seem like plenty of fun, but in reality they’d upset the chaotic pace the game has going for it. SSB is more about zoning, speed, mind games, and execution then it would be about meter management or proper use (or best means of obtaining) of super.
I sorta relate SSB to Darkstalkers in that sense, in that you’re NEVER standing still in the game, always moving and thinking, and that if you blink you’re done for. If the supers were to be integrated in the same fashion that DS has it, where there isn’t this HUGE change in the screen / super freeze / what have you, then I could see them working pretty damn well.
That’s obviously not the case, but regardless of that I’d still like to try them all out.
In the way of more Konami characters, Soma would kick ass. They could also use Jonathan from Portrait of Ruin, make fans happy by getting a Belmont into SSBB AND promote their game on DS.
To reiterate something, I’m still surprised they managed to pull Uematsu into doing the music. And that they’re leaving the ability for GCN controller use is also great news. I’m just a bit curious at the amount of bandwidth that would be used in say, a 4 person FFA online, however…
They’ll also get penalized for being a pussy in Bonus Matches…
The beauty of Smash brothers is that it’s madness…
Whether it’s the stage items or just plain fighting…
You have to switch up your style depending on the type of match…
The reason I hate the tourney scene is that it strips away all the things that i find fun about smash brothers…
As far as exploding capsules FOR THE MOST PART as far as i have seen on my copy in my gamecube is that they amazingly land on people that run away and turtle… I hardly ever see people In the fray fighting get an exploding capsule…
I dont suppose there is any footage flying around for this? and or pics?
Anyway loved the first Smash Brothers, didnt get to into SSBM but wii is a 100% guaruntee that I’ll be picking the game up. I never understood the whole banning items and certain stage select for tournaments. I know this has probrably been brought up many times before but hey either way I’ve always respected the Smash Community and I’ll look foward to competing in the latest installment!
If there was one character I’d really like to see in this game, I’d have to go with Marina from Treasure’s Mischief Makers. She is perfect Smash Bros material! Plus the game needs more female characters anyways.
Can’t wait to play as MetaKnight, I wonder if those multi-slashes were his special moves or just his normal A button attacks. He was dicing fools up when he appeared like crazy.
About the whole item/super thing. Items seem to be cool with the smash players I’ve meet, it’s just that the containers they come in that makes people hate the item of having them on. Getting knocked off the edge and either Up+Bing into a explosive container that just appeared or having one instantly appear in front of your opponent for the instant kill sucks…hard. Especially if it’s your last stock and/or final of a tourney.
From a “competitive” point of view, it’s not even about worrying about the super themselves but how they will appear. If they still appear in containers that randomly explode chances are the majority of the community will be against it if Melee was any indication.
I like the idea of the supers personally, Link’s wannabe be Weapon X Triforce super was badass, you just know he has some pimp final pose after the final strike.
I say supers with a 2 or 3 stock is nice. Just like EX(ES) not that major MvC crap like thnat. It seems really damaging, but not explosive that knockjs off screen. The more I think about it, guest characters are kind of cool, as long as it’s obvious they are, and it’s all about nintneod, which I thik it will be.
