I never really understood why everyone wanted Sonic to be in Brawl. Megaman seems like a much more appropriate candidate thematically, and given the fact that he’s a cyborg with an oversized gun arm.
In any case, I’m skeptical as to how long these “daily updates” are going to last. If anything, Sakurai is just going to update occasionally, and then it’ll peter out within a few weeks. We better get actual, legitimate, substantial info like characters and advanced tactics, or fans will scream bloody murder.
I don’t really understand all the people who say certain characters wouldn’t fit with the “theme” of SSB. The theme is “videogames.” How the hell does Sonic (or any other prominent videogame character) not fit that?

I don’t think he was referring to that, Quiche, I just think he just meant that the given setup of Megaman, who would have an established set of attacks already, would be a better fit than Sonic, who is still known for his run-and-jump abilities.
But yeah, I absolutely agree with you. Outside of something that’s just completely brutal, almost anything would fit into SSB.

One or two more third party characters was said by Sakurai looooooooooong ago… it was along the lines of “Don’t expect to many third party characters, maybe 1 or 2?” It’s buried in this thread somewhere…

I’m not holding my breath on th 3rd party front. As cool as it would be to have Megaman or Ryu Hayabusa or Cloud (let’s face it, a Midgar stage would rock,) I’m sure I’ll be disappointed because they can’t all make it. Better to hope for 1st/2nd party chars like Olimar, Elite Beat Agents, and Ridley.

Heh, the only two third party characters I would want in are Mega Man and Simon Belmont so I could reform the Captain N Team with Kid Icarus AKA Pit but I will keep my hopes really low (Simon’s doubtful with Snake in already) and just hope for Little Mac for the time being… maybe I’ll secretly hope for King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard in the background…
