Before you dismiss it, remember in World of Warcraft how a magazine reported the new Alliance race well before Blizzard announced it (the Draenei), Blizzard and the magazine denied it… and it turned out to be right all along?
This is either a mistake… or this magazine knows something about Brawl we don’t. And for fans of a certain blue hedgehog (despite the shitty XB360 game), that’s a good thing.
I think it’s a mistake. Sadly video games are notorious with magazines and the internet making mistakes like this. Sweden getting the scoop? Hard to swallow.
Still Sonic has a better chance than any other 3rd party character what with him almost being in the last Smash game. Not that it will happen though 'cuz you never know.
I’d say Sonic has a better chance because he is the closet to Mario in icon status outside of Nintendo’s stable, also no doubt that people have been demanding it since Smash Bros first appeared.
I wouldn’t dismiss a European source out the gate, last year the European offices would let stuff slip all the time. But of course, what they let slip had on average was correct only 50% of the time.
Guessing Draenei being the Alliance race is like playing darts with a bazooka. Not to mention many magazines falsely report things like this ALL THE TIME.
I’m not saying dismiss the evidence but your justification is poor.
I dunno, mistakes like this always happen when they list characters in a row, like - Mario, Pit, Snake, Sonic, etc for some reason.
I can’t even recall how many times I’ve seen this mistake but I’ll mention recent one, while comic book related was when Comic Shop news last week dubbed Black Panther, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and Thing as the new Fantastic Four according to a piece of spoiler artwork they saw and showed included in the article - but in the drawing it was actually Black Panther, Storm, Human Torch and Thing.
It happens with video games all of the time - shoot it’s the main reason how “character _____ is in the game” rumors start. (Well, maybe the second reason after people who make fake gaming screens and try to pass them off as being real, all of you you are the scum of the Earth please die right now thank you).
Now if the article was headlining saying “Sonic will be in Brawl” then I’d believe it more than a listing of characters. For some reason mistakes like that happen more often. And LOL at them announcing Sonic in Brawl in a listing of characters instead of giving him his own article, like I would imagine anyone would unless they are brain dead to the fact that a large portion of the gaming population is waiting to hear about the next third party Nintendo character.
Hmm. Well, who knows. But I just don’t buy it… Sonic has really strong chances of being included with or without the article anyway.
All their normals could be dance moves, and all their specials could involve those big numbered buttons, phrase bars, and spinners.

Probably. But I’m not saying it’s 100% true either. Just throwing it out there, with a reason not to dismiss it entirely.
Yeah, it’s probably just a mistake, and Sonic’s probably already in anyway. But MAAAAAAAAAAN, some news is better than no news.

Altering statistics? I hope that’s just a rumor.
It would be interesting, but I doubt much of it will be true.
Altering player statistics would just leave the door open for another character to break the game even more than anything they could have done before short of giving one character an instant kill regular attack.
Yeah, the altering statistics does sound kinda game-breaking. I wonder how it could actually be implemented without actually doing so. :\
