Smash Info from Gamestop conference in vegas
ok guys don’t expect to much new…i’m trying to pry as much info from my roomate as possible…but here’s what I got:
Unfortunately at this event they only had Mario, yoshi, Link, and kirby. He played as Yoshi, but i did try to ask him if Mario’s tornado was only active in the air as a down special…but he didn’t answer me >(. God damn it’s hard to try to get actual info out of this guy >(…he’s rambling on about the other games that were there like ace combat 6, galaxy, tekken 6, soul calibur 4 (both of these games had gameplay stuff), mario and sonic he says was fun and he said assassin’s creed was hot. He did mention that Yoshi’s up B was a lot better. And they didn’t have gamecube controllers there so he couldn’t test out wave dashing…which i was a bit disappointed to hear no info about. My guess being he played with the nunchuk + wiimote combo. Apparently he only got to play once and he had to sit in a 2 hour line to play. He also says that most of the stuff that was there will be at TGS so we definitely have something to look forward too when some other people play it. apparently army of two is hot and my guess is that so is megaman zx advent for people here who were interested in that game. sigh…i don’t think he’s gonna tell me anything else about smash for the moment…if i pry anything else out of him i’ll be sure to post it up…

Edit 2: ok apparently he says they said they were still changing special moves and stuff and of course nothing is final unless they put it up on the site. Apparently they were real sticklers about cell phones and cameras and tried to make sure no one had any but some people got away with it…which means that someone is probably posting some gameplay stuff up on youtube at some point…EVERYONE be on the look out. Alriiight!..I at least got confirmation that Yoshi still has his Egg Roll, butt pound, and slurp into egg, and apparently his up special was an up tongue…probably what’s used to grab the ledge…but the site said his egg toss was still in…so…the theory of a 5th special move is definitely still in but i’m curious as to how exactly they’re gonna map it if they do it…He wasn’t able to test out and confirm that the up tongue was what was used to grab the ledge but i’m sure it is…but again they said that nothing is final yet…he also mentioned that comboing seemed to be a bit harder…but i think that’s probably due too him not having a chance to get used to the controls and everything. In the fight that he was in Link got the final smash so he wasn’t able to confirm what kirby’s was…so i guess we’re gonna have to continue to assume it’s the pot. Ok i’m asking him about the final smash stuff…ok…He’s saying when link picked it up there wasn’t any special cutscene or anything…and he couldn’t tell if it homed in on the nearest person or not…but he did tell me (this made me lol) that the guy who got hit went from 0% to 50% (ouchu?). I think that’s all the info i can get out of him for right now…He’s saying Link’s crossbow training looked sweet as hell and that a lot of stuff is being held back for TGS. If you guys can come up with any other questions to ask him about his experience let me know and i’ll try to pass it on to him…that’s all for now unless i think of something else to ask and get some more info out of him…bah he’s getting a free copy of link’s crossbow training…-_-…that bastid…

So… what’s everyone’s favorite song so far? I think I’m going to vote for Kid Icarus. The whole song is great, but I love the ending part the best.

Edit:…wow…i know this is off topic but…Capcom couldn’t show a re5 trailer at the conference because of the whole racist thing…and they’re trying to work stuff out with the naacp…you gotta be fuckin kidding me!? People are taking that shit seriously!?
My favorite so fay is the Star Fox theme. It’s a great arrangement of a tune that I never really cared for before. Yeah, I liked it, but before now, the theme was just meh to me.
Consequently, the guy who arranged it, Kenji Ito, did the soundtrack to Culdcept (an awesome game to those who don’t know) and that game had a sweet OST. Can’t wait to see if he arranges anything more.
I liked Kid Icarus as well. The ending was the best part in my opinion. It just made me laugh. Come to think of it, I liked pretty much every track… this soundtrack is too epic

Yay! Lyn is so cool. She an AT sure, but at least she made it in. You know, I was wondering if they would put a female slasher in and they did. AT’s are shaping up nicely. I like my eggs scrambled, fried, doggystyle, poached, and sunnyside up. Lyn is a nice addition to what we currently have. They should bonus damage if they are released on the stage that matches the franchise they represent.
