Believe it or not Crash was quite popular back in the day (during PSX days), he was the first ever North American game character to hit it big over there. Of course ever since Naughty Dog/Sony’s contract ended with Universal, they parted ways resulting in Crash (along with Spyro) becoming 3rd party characters. Universal joined up with Konami on the Crash games from then on, so Crash still has some popularity over there. In fact a new Crash game published by Konami (made by Dimps) is going to be released over there, it’s like Mario party or something for the DS I think.
How about buzz from pit fighter?
Going by that Viewtiful Joe probably doesn’t stand a chance. Both of the games and even the anime are more popular in the US then they are in Japan. VJ2 flopped big time in Japan as reported by Capcom themselves and it did okay over here, (well, “okay,” neither of the VJ games have been critical hits, but the first one won awards here so it has a sort of cult/underground following but there are those that hate the sequel, not me, Silvia FTW). About the anime, from an interview from Atsushi Inaba of Clover Studios from Play magazine’s March 2006 issue -
“Regarding the Viewtiful Joe anime series, it is actually more popular in the US than in Japan. I am very pleased that the series is making strides in America and that it has recieved much praise.”
This isn’t all too suprising seeing how Viewtiful Joe is a big American comic book super hero / Hollywood Movie parody.
But if I’ve learned anything, Japan is… kind of unpredictable with these requests… or at best Sakurai is unpredictable with the requests he likes… who knows if VJ will get requested…

Huh…I just kinda thought VJ would be one of those series that is wildly popular in Japan, and only modestly popular in America. Well, I’m not much of a Viewtiful fan myself

What SamuraiPanda01 was saying was that not all characters will return. The thread he created where he posted this was called “Official: Not all characters will be returning!”
Honestly, Dr. Mario, Pichu, and Roy were all filler anyway. I’m sure they’ll axe the first two and replace Roy with a more recent FE character. Young Link can stay as long as they make him WW Link.

If that’s the list of people being considered/confirmed then FUCK YES to the inclusion of Ike. Better make him rock the Lord outfit, guys.
They better keep Roy in though. If they have to give him new moves, then they better not suck…given the fact that the Sword of Seals can (and usually does) ignite in flame when Roy uses it, they could work out a bunch of different tricks for him. For example, the big-ass fireball rain he does when attacking from 2 panels away in FE6. Of course, the thing they’d probably never give him is the healing factor…he’d be too damn cheap.
