Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Wii are very amused

I would say that,it could possibly be the Mute City of Brawl.

getting owned by shy guys= win

Are you kidding? It’s an instant-kill, and all you have to do is practice it for a few weeks and you can do it perfectly every time. It STOPS your character from moving…

Infinites should never be legal especially especially if only one character has them and the rest don’t. Chain grabbing is a different matter because it’s technically not an infinite and you can DI to make it harder for the opponent. But a grab infinite? What is the victim supposed to do? There’s nothing they CAN do.

IGN List - Heh, Ivy lol! I’ve always liked Taki better myself but Ivy’s very easy on the eyes.

Good update today with the new stage.

Anyone else think about this? That new Lylat stage definitely looks “one-way.” Rainbow Road, for example, went in a loop. That way you could have infinite timed stages and such. But if the Lylat stage goes into the earth, does that mean later on it… rockets back out? Into the same space battle over and over again? I’m curious…

Also, let’s keep the Ice Climber infinite discussion to a minimum here, guys. We’ve already have, like, 2 threads debating on that issue. Both sides feel very strongly about it, and if you feel the need to discuss it again, we can start yet another thread. But we should try to keep discussions on Brawl here. Feel free to talk about the infinite, but let’s not let this thread derail into just another debate about that.

Cmon, JC. We could make an entire forum debating the 80 jillion glitches/bugs/oversights in SSBM!

There isn’t a debate, when your character is completely disabled permanently and your opponent isn’t, something is horribly fucking wrong. I don’t even see how someone could justify that fucked up glitch…

I wouldn’t mind if after awhile the ship just landed and the level became stationary from there on out.

I wonder if they’ll implement changes in gravity on that stage as it transitions from outer space to the planet (and probably vice versa). I’d imagine in space the characters would be more “floaty” like Melee’s Battlefield stage when fighting the wire frames in Adventure mode.

I hadn’t even thought about that but that would definitely be cool as shit.

Wow that is a very good idea, it would certainly make for some fun casual matches.

Can’t wait to play on Lylat Cruise. That stage looks sick.

I have been practicing it for 3 months and still I only get it 1/3 of the time. And have you ever tried to grab a person when you are playing as the Ice Climbers when they know how to avoid it? Do you know how much harder it is to grab them when Nana is in range? Its damn-freaking hard I tell you what. There has been no proof this tactic is broken and therefore should not be banned in tournament play. You would be lucky to get it in once every 2 set. However I do hope they get rid of it in Brawl and then buff up the Ice Climbers in other ways.

I sure hope that the stages are less gimmicky in this game. Or if they put the gimmicky stages in some sort of category so it makes it easier to ban them.

Lylat Cruise visuals look freaking awesome. I wonder if there will be lazers that might hit the stage and possibly players like in Corneria on Melee.

Fuck competitve smash play. I just want to mess around with custom options from the comfort of my own home while listening to wu-tang and eating nachos.

This game can have all the “gimmicky” stages it wants. I don’t find smash fun unless playes casually anyway.

I can’t remember the last time I put items on in a smash match…

The debate ends here. The definition of a broken tactic is a tactic that breaks the game. That glitch stops my character from moving. That is a broken tactic, by the very fucking definition of broken.

Wavedash into it, or do it after a dodge. When I found out about it I practiced for a week and a half and I managed to pull it off 6 times in 4 5-stock matches. It. Breaks. The. Game. It. Is. Broken.

There. Is. No. Discussion. To. Be. Had.

Eh, I could see your point if we had Ice Climbers ruling all the tournies and everyone was just annoyed to death, but there are plenty of games with characters who have rather broken things that aren’t banned because it either doesn’t distance themselves from the rest of the cast enough, or no one cares.

I mean no one bans Iron Man for his infinite, because even with it, he’s not that high up there, same goes with Ice Climbers. They aren’t trash by any means, but you’d think if the move was so entirely broken that it should be banned it would help them to dominate more.

Though since there is no discussion to be had, I suppose we can move on.

I think I’ll try playing this both seriously and just for fun. I enjoy the game both ways, but have always found 4 man free for all to be the most fun. I dunno, the mayhem of it all is just plan fun.

They banned the glitch, of course it can’t be exploited to win tournaments…

It’s banned in ALL major tournaments.

An infinite in a game where everyone has infinites is a bit differant from an infinite in a game where no one has infinites.

And trust me, if Cable/Sentinel in MvC2 had something where they could completely freeze the opponents character, they would be banned, or at the very least that glitch would be banned. Gambit glitch is banned, these things get banned for a reason.

The way I see it, if it can be avoided (and it can be), it should be allowed. (oh, wait, there’s no discussion to be had.)

And I dunno, I love the chaotic random nature of smash. I also play on time.
