Super Skrull Question & Answer Thread

The Dashing ↓+H is the most ridiculous part

but don’t worry once you get used to it the ↓+H isn’t that difficult

Hey, so I’m really bad at marvel since I can’t figure out how to pressure properly. I can’t figure out a team I like with him though.in ultimate I want to use Nova but who else should I use and where is skrull at his best? On point or what? I was thinking sent and akuma for my team with him. Part of this belongs in the team building bread but the first part is legit.

I plan on using Nova with Skrull so I’ll see if they can work together.

Skrull can be on point or Anchor. Though it depends on what assists you have. Good assists = point. If your assists can’t provide coverage for skrull’s moves to make them safe then keep him anchor.

With a team like Sent and Akuma, what do you think?

Sentinel is a great character for Skrull. His drones help keep pressure and gives you options to go for the meteor smash cross-up with the assist or lockdown to command grab.

Akuma’s Tatsu assist can be for cross up shenanigans. Create a blockstring then call the assist then cross them up with a meteor smash.

Skrull can probably play on point with your team, but he can be anchor since he’s about as good as Akuma with XF lvl 3. Try using assist tactics to help skrull with his unsafe moves. Also try him as your anchor. He can punish assists easily with meteor smashes then x-factor cancel to inferno or re-launch. You can also cancel a blocked unsafe move with x-factor to keep you in the game.

Do u use often Skrull’s Rolling Hook? It doesn’t look very safe at the first glance but maybe there are possibilities to stop incoming action from the opponent, assists included??

I use it as part of my main offence. It is safe on block and it also is a great way to close the gap between you and your opponent. It can also be canceled to other special moves like a meteor smash.

It’s also a great punishing tool. You can punish a blocked Proton Cannon with the Rolling Hook and if you’re in X-Factor and you block a Mag Shockwave, you can punish him before he recovers.

Thanks a lot, Hi Im Nastyy, for your explanation. I didn’t know Rolling Hook was so good. Can you complement and strenghten this move by mixing it with Sentinel Drones at the same time?

Sentinel Drone combined with RH? Hmm, it has a few uses like in case you miss the RH, and the drones will cover you. If you hit someone with the Hook and the drones keep them juggled, you can probably sneak another RH for increased damage. The Hook causes hard knockdown so you can use it many times in one combo.

Note that this will either work in the corner or a well-timed drone assist midscreen because the Rolling Hook launches them far away.

Thank you!! I will try asap!! I liked when you finished your opponent with a Worm Squash in your latest video!! Inferno!!

I’d like to ask advices to experienced Skrull players:

-Is there a need to use Stone Smite or his charged down+H after a Air Magic series although his Meteor Smash does more damage?
-Is Rolling Hook is safe on block and good to sweep away an opponent and his assits if they’ve been called?
-What is his least worst assist? Can his Stone Smite be good to stop and stomp the ennemy?
-Could Wesker be a good friend for Skrull? Skrull seems to be a meter hog to show off his “inferno” power and I am thinking making a team with Wesker and Haggar to build a lot of meter.

Thx in advance!!

-If you haven’t used a ground bounce, you can air magic then instead of meteor smash immediately, you can stone smite > Jump S charged > Rolling Hook > Meteor Smash. That’s about an extra +300k of damage. Flame Sweep isn’t recommended unless you’re going to x-factor cancel.
-Rolling Hook is safe on block if used from a distance. It’s decent as an assist punisher, but meteor smash would be a better choice.
-Worst assist being stone smite due to it being really unsafe and long start-up.
-Wesker and Skrull work well together, and I know from personal experience. Wesker builds meter and doesn’t need to use it himself, Haggar is just a plain good battery, and they will all build lots of meter for skrull.

Thx Hi Im Nastyy! You said you’re a pad user and you dash after a Jump Down+H (especially after an Elastic Slam) by pressing forward twice. I was wondering if the use of a PS3 controller makes relaunch timing tighter than they are formerly??

No prob. Personally I don’t use the PS3 pad since I don’t like its D-Pad, so I have a special controller made by PDP for me to play on PS3.

But it shouldn’t be stricter unless you aren’t used to the pad. When I used the PS3 pad, I was barely able to get a meteor smash off, but the down H > dash > L,M, cr.M,S wasn’t too hard.

Thx again, Hi Im Nastyy!! Do u dash once or twice by pressing two attack buttons simultaneously in order to get close to your opponent and do more damaging Tenderizers? I am worried about how far Tenderizers down scale Skrull’s combos…

If you’re going to tenderize after a command grab, make sure to dash once to get full damage. It will scale dramatically once the final hit has connected, but if you’re going to use a level 3, it won’t scale it.

Try to avoid using tenderizers if you can. Some combos require it, but most of them don’t need it.

When i try to do combos like :l::m: cr :h::s: sj :m::m::h::s: d+:h: land :s: sj :m::m::h::s:, i can never get the last :s: in the combo to connect… my opponent always flips out. I assume this is a possible combo as i see it in the combo thread, how do i get the final ground knockdowns to work? is it because i started with a :l:? too much hit stun deterioration? i find myself just omitting the :s: and going into air inferno…

if someone could give me two just generally accepted assistless skrull combos (one for midscreen, one for corner) that end in inferno, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Hi Im Nastyy!!

-must be excecution on your part. I’m able to start with Jump :s: then :l:, :m:, cr. :m: :h:, :s:, air :m::m::h::s:, land, jump d+:h:, relaunch, air :m::m::h::s:, land, meteor smash to inferno.

For a corner combo try cr. :l::m::h::s:, air :m::m::h::s:, land, Stone smite, jump cancel to Charge :s:, Rolling Hook, Meteor Smash to Inferno. That’s one of the most damaging combos in the corner that I know with Skrull. If you need other ones or simpler ones, feel free to ask.

I used to have this problem sometimes. Usually what caused it was holding the :s: slightly or just not pressing it fast enough.
