reminds me allot of heihachi from Tekken 4. anyways, im really inspired by all these sketches. i haven’t picked up a pencil to draw for the longest time due to school work. great work everyone.
I drew this picture about 3 years ago and i havent had a scanner since then…it sucks ill post some when i get a hold of a scanner and scan my stuff. Well when I scanned this it was for my friends failed attempt of a website cause he kinda gave up after a while.
Well the picture is Rhandi from Secret of Mana. I tried to elaborate some anatomy in my anime i guess i dont really remember where i was going with this picture. My newer stuff is a lot better…well you can tell me if i have improved or not when i scan some more pictures.
Attachments should be 100kb or under and your 10 over. Great sketches guys keep them coming.
Okay, it might be just me…but…when I put that in, it doesn’t find it, but it has been doing that lately with most sites unless I put www in front of it. Does it happen to anyone else? And does anyone know how to fix my issue? XD
And thank you very much SFMC. It’s now attached. Just a quick sketch.
Okay, apparently I can’t edit and post an attachment…well here it is. Ignore his underproportioned legs. I know about those.
the sketch is decent. just remember that you should make stokes soft and then when you are finishing the sketch, make your lines darker while erasing all the stray marks. this is very important because it will give your images a clean look.
i would also change the face. i know ryu has a baby face in the alpha series but i think this dude looks more like a lady (no, i dont listen to aerosmith).
as far as anatomy goes, ryu’s arms are too long. his right hand is done nicely though. his right eye longer and bigger than his left. and most of his toes (especially on the left foot) look too similar in size and shape. try and make the foot triangular. dont be afraid to add details to the body like ankles, veins, nostrils, etc.
overall, not a bad pic. i know this is only a sketch, but as a rule, always try to make your character look as life-like as possible.
hope that helps.

I just saw this sketch, ZenMaster… Your style’s pretty awesome!.. Very gothic/RPG-ish in style…

Should I make a new thread?..

Not much with the shading department when I draw since I usually want to color it… But don’t end up being colored due to lack of proper coloring software…
there’s nothing really wrong with that Guy pic… why don’t you like it?
here’s an old pic:
Yeah Zen & Seba-boi I really like both your styles I’ve been drawing alot lately I need to get a scanner or something so I can post the pics I drew. Zen I really have to give it to you because you really got your human body skills down I really that bottom right pose in the P.O.P. is the coolest looking one. Try drawing off that one. I got to get some of my artwork up here so maybe you guys can tell me what I’m missing in my artwork. Like Seba I don’t have proper paint programs to do so, so my art work isn’t shaded either. Keep up the good work.
It doesn’t neccessarily mean you listen to Aero Smith ZMasterZen. “Mrs. Doubtfire” was a great movie. I own two copies. XD Thanks for those tips…and question. I just wanna know. What do you think of not using the framework at the begining? That’s what I usually do. Would using it help more in getting the pose and pov right?
well to tell the truth, there really isnt one simple way to getting the right pose. using a framework would definitely help. i have read some art books which say that you should start with a cubic construction of the image and then slowly “humanize” it. while making lots of cubes and other shapes to represent the human body help get to an accurate pose, i am unsure how practical that process really is when you draw from natural life.
i rarely use this technique to tell you the truth (probably because it involves a lot of erasing and redrawing-and i simply dont have the patience for it). and when i do use it, i do it on another page–as a sort of a “rough draft”.
i recommend that you continue to do what you feel comfortable with. dont change your entire sketching process just because someone else says their’s is better. only use the cubic drawings when you need to get a pose just right. tell me what if you have any problems.
p.s. i will post some of those sketches that use the cubic technique to show you what i mean on sfmc’s tips thread.
50: thanks, man. i think i will definitely go with that pose.
rook: wow, i mean that is just amazin work. you got the mood and everything just right. i love the fingers dude. great stuff.
seba: dude, that second pic kicks ass. you did a nice job on perspective and everything. i understand if you dont wanna do shading. that is the same mentality i had when i started sketching. but you know what? it will help you to understand how light works and everything.
i can tell from your pics that you are an anime fan. most good anime artists use shading to make a contrast between light and darkness. i know you are really good at making pictures without shading, but dont settle for just flat pics. adding a little bit of shadows here and there will make your pic stand out.
I have one that I colored using PaintShop Pro… It’s not the best but I think it has eye candy…

I am going to add a little bit of painting in the mix
For about 6 months I have been painting desings on clothing, sports accesories in paticular for money
MY boy wanted me to paint a couple of logos on his converses so I practiced before I fucked it up. I liked how I did on the mavericks logo for a first try.
If only I can load my sketches on my computer, I’d show you all my awesome sketches. They look so cool!
Here is cody from final fight
wow nice pics of guy rook and zen, u two have two different styles, and i love them both
zen has that more realistic soft feel, and rook has the more hard, rough edge feel to it
i need to take a crack as guy, i doubt i’ll make it as great though
