orayin, cool stuff, i like ur style of drawing, but ur characters are sometimes a little off proportion, like the head on that ninja guy is pretty big, i like the samurai one
Oi vega-x, you say to work on your pic on a higher resolution right? So let’s say after I zoom in and done some little details on the small areas, so do I zoom out to 50% or 100% to see the whole pic?
Uh, do you get what I mean…
Oh and nice lens flare tutorials btw…
orayin, your last picture really depends heavily on a good sense of perspective. the two characters in the back dont look as though they are further away. to create that sense of depth, try to bring more focus to the samurai in the center. you can achieve this by darkening the bordering lines on the middle character to make him or her (i cant tell) stand out. also, if you decide to add shading or color to this pic, make the middle character have heavier shading or color than the other two guys.
and twelve, i think what vega means is that you should work on a higher magnification from the start (200% +). this will ascertain a smoother look when you bring it to normal resolution. also, you may decide to color a larger picture then shrink it to a smaller size using another program (i use the program that came with my scanner). either way, it will get the job done.
My Akuma, Poison & Hugo sketches
Hi. I’m new here.
Here are some of my SF sketches.
not bad dude. you are pretty good at doing the faces. you are also pretty ambitious when it comes to poses–some of them are very creative. overall, good job, work a little more on fluidity.
Nice akuma there jason

& click on the artwork link. You’ll find that Dudley picture there. I bumped into this website when I was looking for Final Fight artwork.
nice site, jason. are all the sf3 pics official? sum uv em look pretty nasty.
there any good gallery sites that have sf ex pics? particularly from part 2?
I believe they are official, ZenMaster. The SF3 artwork had always been kinda sketchy-looking. Some of them are just sketches.
I hadn’t come across any SF EX(the 3D game) yet. I wasn’t even aware there was a part 2. The only thing I’ve got is a wallpaper somebody made with the various 2D head shots of the characters in SF EX.
Added a Chun Li sketch to my gallery
Added another sketch at my gallery
good shit jason. very nice pose, nice propertion, overall, great pic. may i ask where you learned to develop that style? my style–whenever i make sf characters usually resemble a mix between the alpha series (3) to some of the stuff from third strike.
yes, i kinda figured most of the sketchy images were official but the shitty necro pic (the last one) threw me off a bit.
um, if you havent checked, sf ex 2 has some really cool pix. it has that cartoony alpha look to it but retains that serious tone from the 3 series. i will try to link you gallery in the future if i can find it again.
I used to idolize the works of Jim Lee and I still do. In the beginning I just tried to draw in what I would call ‘American comics’ style…later, I came across Hui King Sum from Hong Kong who did the Chinese Street Fighter comics and I tried to draw like him…I didn’t and also couldn’t stick to one way of drawing…my early drawings weren’t very consistent. But, thankfully, I now feel that I have attained some consistency in my drawings and my own style is starting to ‘come out’ in a sense. I think drawing alot in my spare time helped in developing this style, and observing how people look like; their poses, the proportions etc. through magazines and real life.
I wasn’t talking about zooming at all, just about the resolution the picture is in. Of course, the higher the resolution, the more you have to zoom out to see the whole picture.
I was referring to filter use in this case, because filters change each pixel based on its neighbors in a 1-10 pixel radius. In high resolution, each pixel is more like its neighbor, so using filters doesn’t create a drastic, garish effect. But with any Photoshop work, it’s usually better to be hi-res. When you zoom in on a lo-res picture for detail work, it becomes blocky and pixelated. Hi-res doesn’t have this problem.

On an unrelated note, here’s a really evil Tam-Tam from Samurai Showdown:
