Sub 1 frame HDTV/Monitor Input Lag Database

Apparently prad.de has a much better way of testing input latency now, using oscilliscopes.

Also, this is supposedly a much more accurate test when doing the current methods of testing

hello, about this hdtv Sony 32W400 - 8.6ms input lag 32" 1080p are you sure about the name? i can find just 3W4000

I got a LG 50PZ550 plasma and it has a noticable bit of input lag. I notice on the list on the op that the only LG has a rather large input lag, would that be the same across all or most of their models?

Not necessarily. On of their lcds was sought after back when I was looking for a gaming TV.

I see. Is there a sight that lists these for american models as well?

Bump, Another vote for sticky

Does anyone have any info on the ASUS VH238H? It’s only $10 more than the VH236H.

IT seems the LED backlight is the only diffrence. There are some unsubstantiated claims that the LED one has more input lag. The majority of what I’ve seen, though, indicates that they are the same aside from the light. Google “ASUS VH238H input lag” to find the various discussions out there, for it.

Sony has annonced 3D tv special for Ps3. I just hope they put some efforts and make it also lagfree…

Since you are on topic about the vh236h monitors. Do you know if the video mode makes any difference in terms of input lag? (game, scenery, theater etc. etc)

Various posts says it doesn’t not while other says there’s a difference.

I have no idea, unfortunately.

Did anyone catch which NEC monitors were used at the Dromstruction tournament? The commentators on Finest KO mentioned that they were using them.

I’m not really sure how to find out the model of monitor. Hopefully one the the tourney organizers take note of it. In any case if they are comercial monitor for use in hospitals, I’d imagine that they are probably pretty expensive.

I asked in the Dromstruction thread according to jinxmitchell the monitors used were the NEC V421-2.

Thanx for the suggestion I appreciate this, but regarding 2 & 3 couldn’t you instead record with a camcorder or any recording device upload on youtube so the user can hit the pause button to see the time difference?

Well even if you had a good camcorder that could record at 60FPS that still restricts you to only 16ms of accuracy, and for testing input lag you obviously need more than that (i.e. cameras with really short shutter times). Also do they even have 60FPS vids on youtube yet? I assume they would re-encode it to 30fps anyways.

In my tests with a VH246H I saw no difference.

Youtube used to “support” it. You could bypass it by uploading a 60 FPS FLV but it’s not an accepted file type anymore.

If you watch this in 240p you can see it’s 60 FPS.

Thanks for the reply pzlate

I’ve been using a 40" tv as my PC monitor for the last couple of years. It’s been starting to go a little crazy recently. I’m considering replacing it with 2-3 EVO monitors. You know this totally sucks though I paid way to much for that thing for it to be acting up now. CRTs will last for well over a decade but are LCDs supposed to crap out in a few years?

As old as it makes me sound, they don’t make anything like they used to.

I just found this chart in a new Anandtech review so here’s a few monitors to add to the list
