I wish I could get that dell in a bigger size. I have a 27" Samsung monitor that’s advertised as 5ms grey to grey and its great for fighters. 23" is just too small especially when you wanna play other games on it.
Is the Panasonic S60 really the only option with plasmas lately as far as input lag goes? It’s been measured at 34ms, and I don’t know if that’s something I can deal with or not. I played on a 2012 Samsung that felt really responsive, and I believe that was measured at 22ms, but the motion blur drove me up the wall. The only other option I’m seeing for plasma is the Panasonic S30 from a couple years ago, and even that could only hit 16ms via component. I was really settling on getting the S60 when I move out, but I’m getting jittery about it. Can anyone chime in on it? After factoring in a wireless controller, aren’t I looking at about 4 frames of lag? That sounds pretty significant.
is the UA32EH5000 any good for gaming in general and mostly for fighters?
do you another 32" cheap TVs ? I rather not buying a Smart TV, I’ll hook up the TV to the computer
Ok I found two input lag test sites! check these out! One for the UK and one for the US. There the only ones out right now but it becoming a big deal with articles and press finally talking about it. You have to be under 20ms if you want to KNOW you have 0 lag.
I’m diffidently going to use the link through “DisplayLag.com” so he gets a little money from amazon for doing all the tests for us. He emailed me back and said that would really help him and the site so he can do more tests! Hope this helps guys!
@Banglev, I have the Samsung 32" UN32EH4003 and it’s reported to have 19ms of input lag on displaylag.com which is the lowest I’ve seen on current 32" HDTVs. I don’t feel any input lag and everything looks great! Can’t beat it for the price either… I believe it’s $258 w/ free shipping on amazon.com
Three months of ownership, it is absolutely the best hdtv for gaming, bluray movies for under a $1000.
I turned off all the post processing effects and it performs like a Crt. I haven’t run tests, but I know a responsive display when I use one and I also have a Crt especially with games like SSF2T and 3s.
It CANNOT be a 34ms input lag measurement. All the image enhancers turned off. It feels around the same or slightly better than my Benq monitor measured at 6ms input lag. No slouch in fighting gaming.
I ran PC games on my S60 Plasma like Dishonored and Mirror’s edge via Steam on my HTPC, to sum up my conclusion in one word… Magnificent.
Bluray: Samsara and DK Rises are eye candy demonstrations.
Sounds awesome. That 6ms on your BenQ, that’s the input lag, or its response time? It’s hard to believe after tests that have been performed on the S60 (either with the Leo Bodnar test or a rough Rock Band 2 calibration), but it sounds promising. I’m looking to get a 50" S64 when I move out. If it’s too large, I might go down to a 42" S60 if I can still get one at Sears.
That’s input lag on the Benq. Further research says an individual can’t tell the difference between 1 frame to 2 frames. measured
The panasonic does have higher than 1 frame of input lag unfortunately, however when I have my nephew play 3rd strike, he does not detect any inconsistencies. Kinda weird. but this plasma is awesome for everything I run through at it and use it as a HTPC monitor.
Yeah it’s been measured at 34.1ms, which is the best that a 2013 plasma can do. My only other option would be to go to something like the U50…but the S60 seems to have way better controls for color and things like that. And it’s just as fast as my current monitor, so it looks like a good compromise between input lag and PQ. Thanks!
Sorry for the double post, but someone had asked me to ask about any issues with issue retention. How has it been on your set?
I’m very excited for the S64…though my only hesitations are possible buzzing/popping issues, and I wish I had a better idea as to how the ABL (auto brightness limiter) affects real world gaming/viewing. And line bleed. I’ve never owned a plasma myself (just watched my parents’), but plasma issues seem much easier to deal with than my LCD issues (motion blur, clouding, crappy local dimming, etc).
Anyone with any experience with the ASUS MX279H? It’s good darn fine numbers on Displaylag.com, but A) I don’t know how reliable they are yet and B) The very first review of the thing on Amazon indicates that the input lag is in the 18-20MS range, and if I’m going to shell out for a monitor for these games, I’m bloody well getting a GOOD one, not just a pretty good one.
for the LG Flatron W2363D its says 3ms, so I assume its worth buying. I;ve heard that anything below 2ms isnt worth getting if you want to be a pro fps player, is this true?
Line bleed can be annoying, you would mostly notice it if using as a HTPC monitor. Lifebars and such might be noticeable too. Plasma doesn’t have motion blur like LCD but the Panasonics I looked at had phosphor lag, which blurs the image as it moves just as much IMO and if you’re coming from CRT then it’s noticeable a good bit. Plasma will buzz, all of them do. I’m not sure about popping but I have read that the S60/S64 will pop compared to other plasma.
ABL however, wasn’t bad. If you turn off any power saving features and room ambient dimming, then the picture will be good for regular content and not really noticeable.
IR will always be a thing. Temporary IR and longer term IR will always be there. Something that will never change for plasma. But for regular viewing content like games you most likely won’t notice it.
Is there an updated list somewhere? I need to find a TV within the $600 range that’s a good TV for gaming. I know there are a lot of variables but i need some help
in case anyone cares. went to best buy. got an asus vs228hp 21 inch, and hooked it up to my xbox 360 via hdmi and it works great. only tested with kof 13 (ex kyo) in game mode, but felt fine and no different then when i played on my crt. all my links and hd combos came out fine like i havent been off the sticks for almost 2 months. will test it on umvc3, mvc2 and maybe some guilty later, but all is good and it was only 139.99
