If I am reading this correctly it has average 5.1ms and a max of 6ms for input lag. Seems pretty good for a 27 inch monitor no? Anyone know if this is a good fg monitor or did I just waste 230$? If it is good, it seems like a pretty good deal. If it sucks, I’ll just use it as an external monitor for my laptop since I already have the evo monitor for SF.
I’m also interested in these, or really any Korean 27" 1440p IPS monitors. I plan to play a lot of PC-based music games on my new desktop setup and it’s really hard to “play through the lag” for them since your score depends on timing it within a frame or two of being perfect, for every button press.
The st series is risky this point until it is remedied by panasonic. The vt series however is a serious contender for gaming with its quad core processor speeding its internal apps, scaler, etc.
The VT is dual core. I’m considering it even if I had to take out a loan, it would last about 7 years for me and at least be decent with the lag. I’m hoping Panny uploads their software soon, it’s open source so if we have to we could always gather a group of people to modify it towards gamer’s needs.
Yes the Vt is dual core, my mistake XD. Open source ftw. I’d seriously recommend the S60 though. My monitor is a Benq GW2750 with a very low 6ms input lag. The S60 is a different beast. It is phenomenal that the lag feels non-existent. I ran blurays, fighting games, PC gaming via hdmi and optcal audio, it is a grade A+ display.
Moreover, my nephew Adam is a top 3rd strike player and he was impressed by the performance on this display. I declare this hdtv a winner folks at a greater value than competing lcds in the market.
If I am reading this correct, this would qualify as a ‘sub 1 frame’ monitor right?
"the mean total latency with 11.6 milliseconds absolutely suitable for gaming."
Unless that is a different monitor…review model doesn’t have the P. I can’t find any other info on the thing.
Most of the time a letter after the model number is designated for regional models or club vs retail models. For example, the Euro version of the Panasonic GT60 is followed by a B. The USA version (if there was one, but there isn’t) wouldn’t have the letter. That’s all it really is. Regional models will have different firmwares to account for different broadcast types.
99% of the time the panel is the same. Connectors might be different, but the important bits are identical.
Cost prohibitive I’ll *maybe *give you *if *you’re referring to tournaments or something. Then again, if you’re not using projectors for the main crowd display, “ur do’n itt rong”. However, $2800 isn’t that crazy for a high-end home big screen set.
I’m not sure how you got the bit about shitty picture going by that review though, unless you’re referring to the viewing angle?
Oh for some reason I thought that was the 4K display, which is really expensive for an already obsolete TV, since the 4k capabilities of it won’t support the 4k spec when 4k is finally out. It’s not yet finalized.
Either way, non of the LCD models look very good, especially in motion. Impulse mode is probably the best mode to use but I still think it won’t look that great. But hey, low input lag finally in a large “high end” display. If only the plasmas were getting that right.
I’m trying to find a way to test my HDTV but the SMTT download won’t work for me because I don’t have a license key.
Do I need this particular program or is there another timer that would work just as well as the SMTT?
Do you have any updates on the TV? How are you feeling with it? It’s been tested at 34ms over HDMI (not sure if it’s any quicker over component?). I know I probably couldn’t play certain games like I’m used to (say, super precise games on the Virtual Console), but it sounds like it should be better than the TV I have now - a 26" Insignia LCD from 2009 (no game mode…and a rough “test” shows that it’s one or two frames behind even the Wii U Gamepad).
