Sub 1 frame HDTV/Monitor Input Lag Database

Looking for a panel with a better image and color then the VH236 (I own 2 already). With that said I am looking to try a IPS panel and specifically The Dell S2740L (TFT review). It has 3.2ms of input lag and seems to pretty decent all around. Can anyone Give me any pro’s or con’s to a IPS panel for FG’s as its new tech for me.

Also if anyone else can recommend a non TN panel 24-27 inch for around $350 please let me know I would like to order soonish and thanks again.

Sorry, I’m in kind of a rush to purchase a TV today, and only got to see the initial page from 2010. Can someone please let me know what good HDTVs are available with subframe input lag? I’m looking for something thats 50-60", good quality. Price is no object.

Thank you!

I play a lot of SNES / Retro games too, and would be very nice to be able to do so on a flat HDTV. I also play Halo / COD

There’s a thread in tech talk that focuses on exactly what you’re talking about. I can’t remember the title, only that the original poster has a yoshi avatar.

Panasonic plasma ST series are good. Right around 16 ms from what I read.

Ok so I’m having an issue about which one to get (No money is not the issue). Should I get this monitor, http://shop.benq.us/ProductDetail.aspx?id=386 , or the notorious one most people use which is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236059 ? I want something that looks sharp & has as little lag & I’m going with one or the other. I figure to ask on here because I’m sure most of you have already tried both already & I’ve only played on the ASUS one but I hear that the BenQ one has better response time, and yes I read the OP but I’d like to hear something more recent.

If you find my post a while back, I mentioned disabling post processing on my Sony HD CRT.

Like I mentioned, this only works for 1080i. Seeing as how most PS3 games don’t do 1080i, I’m stuck playing games on 720p.
I’ve been reading up on upscalers, and I just want to make sure I got this right.

The one I’m looking at is the DVDO Edge Green.
It should be able to upscale 720p to 1080i.

From what I read, when gamer mode is turned on, it lags 6ms.
Theoretically, I could use the DVDO Edge to upscale my PS3 games from 720p to 1080i, which should result in only 6ms of lag(from the upscaling).
Would that really work or am I missing something?

I’ve heard deinterlacing can cause lots of lag, but I haven’t really heard about the opposite.
There’s a lot of info to read, so my bad if I missed something.

Deals on the Dell S2330MX and S2230MX

An article from LevelUpYourGame says, “…My first real hdtv monitor was the Asus VH236H.” "This monitor [Dell S2330MX] truly feels awesome and probably the least laggy monitor I’ve ever played on – once calibrated properly."

I wish the Dell monitors had speakers :frowning:

Just buy external speakers, they’re cheap and usually better than monitor speakers anyway.

I agree with this. Monitor speakers are terrible.

What’s the lowest input lag 24" 1080p LED monitor?

Asus VH238H is the same as the Evo monitor except LED backlit. 23.6" I think though.

Man I really want to grab that Dell Monitor but I really, really shouldn’t spend the money. Right now I’ve been grabbing one of my desktop monitors and talking it with me for gaming purposes. Dang it.

I just switched from a VH238 to the S2740L; no regrets at all. Much better colors, less input lag, no space wasted on cheap built-in speakers. The only risk with that monitor is that the front is all glass, so it reflects everything. Personally, it has not been an issue, but depending on the lighting in the room, I could see it being a nuisance for some setups.

The Prad.de review rates the input lag a little higher at 6.1ms, but that’s still great for an IPS panel. Historically, the main benefit to IPS was better picture/color quality and viewing angle, but at the expense of worse input lag and response times. A good majority of the IPS monitors out there still fit this, but the S2740L does not.

I’m going to test my HDTV vs my CRT. What cables do I need exactly? Do I need a graphics card, or will my i5-2500k Sandy Bridge’s onboard be ok?

on the Dell S2740L, is the glass screen glare worse than old CRT’s , or the same?

The prad review rates it higher at 6.1ms (than what?)

When it’s off, it can be a dark mirror. When it’s on, it’s not so bad (At least, for my setup).

The TFT Central review rates it at 3.2ms average with a max of 4ms.

I need a new 32 inch.

My LG 32ld350 is busted and I know that model is out of date by like a year and a half. What is the current bet 32 inch for low input lag?
