Sub 1 frame HDTV/Monitor Input Lag Database

Except that he did say he was bitching when the guy clearly wasn’t…so yeah, other than that accusation there wasn’t an accusation

But yes, he should be adding those he’s found to this list as it is community driven. It’s not the OP’s job to go and find every single worthwhile monitor that has been tested with an ideal equipment setup. He’s just monitoring this thread so if anybody finds something concrete it can be added to the list and if it’s not concrete we can at least discuss it (like how I brought up the Catleap’s a few pages ago).

I could’ve used “complained” instead and it would’ve been the same thing. But I guess this is the one thread in SRK that isn’t black since you take the verb “bitch” as offensive and you buy all your TVs.

So both BenQ GW2750HM and BenQ GW2450HM are ok, but what about the 21,5" one in the same series? The BenQ GW2250HM. Have anyone tested it yet?

I have the Panasonic in 50" size. It is certainly <1 frame lag but I would not recommend a plasma TV for fighting games. since the meters never move even on new more retention resistant plasmas you will eventually end up with burn in. Bought my TV, my bro used it for SF non-stop … way more than I should have let him. After maybe a month of use the life bars and ultra meter are permanently burnt in and will not go away even though brightness was only 50%. there are even ghostly outlines that roughly correspond with each row of blocks on the SF4 training stage.

plasma picture quality is incredible for movies and stuff, don’t ruin the TV by using it for FGs.

Cool thanks for the reply.

Lag wise would you say it’s fairly comparable to the ASUS Evo Monitor? That is pretty impressive if so.

As far as the burn-in goes, I know it can be a problem if you don’t take proper precautions. You said he played it way longer than he should have been allowed. I don’t game nearly as much as I used to so I am not too concerned.

Additionally, over on AVS I’ve read about how people run slides on these TVs for 100 hours before they start using them or gaming on them, which I will plan on doing. It’s supposed to help cut down on the IR as well as help “break in” the TV.

I will be watching a lot of TV and movies on there as well, so it’s not strictly for gaming.

And also, those of you who want an Evo Monitor, they are $135 shipped on newegg right now after coupon and rebate.

I actually hooked up my Asus Evo monitor to a splitter so now if I am going to play a long session I will turn off the TV and just play on the monitor. When you leave them both going there is no difference I can see … never took a camera to do an objective test but subjectively at least I will say there is no difference at all.

I have no idea how long exactly he played… he hardly worked and I was out at my job all day but I think he was doing 5+ hours a day for almost a month straight. So 5 hours a day/1 month = permanent burnin. I’m fucking choked about it since I hardly got to use the TV, now he moved out and I’m left with this sick TV that looks incredible until it shows an all light or all dark screen and I can see discoloration corresponding to the SF4 meters all over the screen. I just hope it breaks somehow so I can get it replaced under my IPR.

in my own experience since I never game for that long, even as little as 1.5 hours of a FG is enough to leave an image behind but those at least fade very quickly

Well yea man that sucks.

If I were you I would make a post in this thread here:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1397245/official-panasonic-st50-series-discussion-thread-no-street-price-talk

And just state the exact issue and see what people suggest.

Any 40" or larger tvs from 2012 make the list? All the tvs in the original post that size i can’t find in stock anywhere.

I just thought that I should post about my current setup. I am running a 22" Viewsonic monitor and it is virtually lagless in case anyone is interested in getting a monitor.

Here is the monitor itself on Amazon.co.uk: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001J2YYZ0/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

It seems like its been phased out or just not available anyway on Amazon. I did find 1 on eBay just now, selling for €100 so if anyone is interested in getting a 22" monitor, that is a very safe buy. I have played both X360 and PS3 versions of AE on it and there is no lag. Though I feel its important to mention, I don’t think there are any post-processing effects in place because I can see jagged edges in a lot of games, especially Forza on X360 but then again, that might be the nature of the game in HD mode. In terms of a gaming experience, its perfect (to me anyway). I have a high grade of sensitivity when it comes to playing any games (big combo dude in FGs so I do a lot of just frame links) so I haven’t found any issues getting my links down with this monitor.

Hey guys I’m about to buy the Evo monitor but it will be one half of 2 displays on my desktop. One is a Samsung 21" LED. I’d like to keep things consistent because this will be my primary work monitor as well as my gaming monitor for ssfivae/marvel. Looking on newegg I see this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236175 which looks as though it could be up to par with the evo monitor but I need an actual number before I feel confident buying this. I read the evo monitor is ASUS VH236H - 8.3ms input lag (game mode) TN Film 23" 1920x1080 (A.K.A EVO MONITOR) so whats the specs for ASUS VS Series VS238H-P Black 23" 2ms HDMI LED ? And would anyone recommend getting this one?

so i did more research and found out the vs238h-p is exactly the same as the vh236h only thing is it doesnt have built in speakers and the stand is not as sturdy. but the pro’s are the 50,000,000:1 contrast ratio and the fact it is led and not lcd so it saves energy and is easier on the eyes. heres a pic of 3 monitors (Dell U2711via Display porttAsus VH236H via DVI Asus VS238H-P via DVI) as you can see the evo monitor in the middle and the vs238h are identical. new evo monitor?

Your input is no doubt greatly appreciated. Do you mind sharing the source of the results you’ve found? That way they can be verified and linked in the OP for future use.

sure no problem. the image came from this thread http://forums.majorleaguegaming.com/topic/264436-mlg-monitor-question/
and theres a bit more talk about it on this threadhttp://forums.majorleaguegaming.com/topic/264866-new-monitor-question/
i just ordered the monitor today so i will be conducting my own personal tests against a crt and the evo monitor as soon as i can.

Adding in a user experience is great when you are reporting with actual hard data (like what you see on Prad). But it’s really hard for anybody to take you seriously when all you offer is your subjective experience. For all I know you could be the most “sensitive” person on the planet and literally be a human input lag meter or you could simply be a person who thinks they are and that monitor actually has 50ms of lag. I doubt it does but I think you see my point.

I just saw this review today. Basically, don’t buy this Dell 27" IPS if you want to play games on it. Apparently it has a full frame of lag.

I am extremely happy that Anandtech is doing input lag tests for their monitor reviews these days.

Anyone test the samsung e6500 plasma line? According to this youtube video it looks like it s beats the panasonic st50 in lag. And the st50 is on the OP’s list as having 16ms input lag.

Anyone have any SoCal connections for a Panasonic TC-P42ST30? Or at least a tip on how to get one of these? Seems to be unavailable everywhere.

I’ve decided that’s what I’m going to get. Thanks to everyone, especially OP, for putting life into this thread. Major contribution to the community.

That model has been discontinued since February of 2012. ST50 is the replacement. They made a run of 42s for it but you’ll have to order one online or go through Panasonic directly.

Thanks! So in your opinion, or anyone else’s, would the ST50 likely be less than 1 frame of lag as well? I might be able to test one of these, assuming they’re on display at Best Buy, as a relative is manager at one. Gotta look into what equipment I’ll need.
