There’s a list on the front page of this very thread. That’s what the thread was created for in the first place… The “Evo” monitor (VH236H) is still widely regarded as the safest monitor to purchase, and readily available.
I read on AVForums that its got the least amount of lag of the new 2012 Plasma range. 0 frames.
LOL, that’s not even possible dude. 16 ms (1 frame) is the least amount of lag you will find in HDTVs, period. And even that is hard to find (it’s basically what every serious gamer is struggling to find).
Here’s the thing about 2012 panasonic plasmas: the initial reviews of the lower end models (UT50 and ST50) measured input lag to be about 16 ms, which is fantastic. HOWEVER…a new input lag test method that is supposedly more accurate, adopted by the folks at the AVS forums, measured input lag in these models to be about 45 ms.
These conflicting results created a lot of confusion and most people are still insecure about the Pana 2012 lineup. Some owners say they are great TVs for gaming with minimum lag, while others returned their TVs in disapointment. The situation is a real mess right now.
I am dying to get a plasma set because I can’t stand motion blur anymore, LCD technology is garbage to me. But I’ll wait for the dust to settle before investing a lot of money on a new TV that may or may not be good for gaming.
Here’s a video of a guy demonstrating the input lag of the UT50, and he seems pretty satisfied with the TV (read the description).
I know when i turn on the motion smoother on my GT30, it goes from lagless to a huge amount of input lag. I’m guessing around 2-3 frames, unplayable for me on fighting games.
Your right however they changed their review… last time I looked they had it around 14ms which is around 0 frames. I thought they used their new testing method
on the ST50 range but obviously not. Using their new method however it puts it squarely in the average gaming TV bracket.

I’ve been looking at this monitor and in regards to input lag this is all I have found…
“One thing that is different here however, when comparing the Asus monitor to the Acer is the level of input lag I was able to measure. One thing that I’ve noticed immediately after getting the Asus VG278H monitor for testing is the good responsiveness I’ve got from it, although I’m not overly sensitive to input lag. After measuring it I can confirm that the Asus is better than the Acer in that aspect, although the VG278H is not totally lag free, the input lag at the default factory settings is very low… something very close to 0 milliseconds and less than 5 ms for sure.”
It seems too good to be true…anyone have more info on this monitor regarding input lag?
The S2330MX has no HDMI port. Will you get any input lag from using the DVI-HDMI dongle?
Looks like you can add the Asus VG278H to the sub 1 frame delay list…
Here’s a suggestion:
Perhaps the first post of this thread could have links beside (or combined into) each of the TVs linking to the review(s) where the input lag is mentioned? And there could also be TVs listed with user reviews like my own above (but flagged with User Review or something)
A little something along the lines of this:
Samsung UE32D5000 - 16ms input lag 32" 1080p (U.S model UA32D5000) hdtvtest.co.uk Review
…
Samsung UE32EH5000 - low input lag 32" 1080p User Review
Kudos to SaveFighting for starting this thread by the way!
I know it was mentioned on this page, but I have a question about the VH238H. Have there really been no actual tests done on this thing and everyone just assumes it’s the same as the VH236H? Everything I’ve seen is anecdotal so far. I’ve been Googling and haven’t turned up anything yet.
EDIT:
According to this video, the input lag on both is pretty much exactly the same. That enough proof to put it in the sub-1 frame category?
This is probably a silly question, but how do I buy any of these TVs exactly? It seems like most of these are European models and I can’t find the US equivalents anywhere. The Samsung UA32D5000 seems to be the most recent addition here, but I can’t find it in any reputable shops, and I don’t know if the models that replaced it are any good either. How are other people using the information provided here to get their TVs? Or is there something I’m missing?
Anybody have the Samsung PN51E550 series or larger tv? I’m trying to decide between that and the ST50. I know the ST50 has a better picture but the Samsung seems to have better 3d. My whole excuse for getting rid of my old set was to get a 3d tv so that’s more important to me. I checked out the AVS forum but most the people there seemed to hate Samsung. Just curious if anybody has this tv and is happy with their purchase.
I have the PN51D550, which I’m guessing is just the older model. I love mine (I have it on a rotating stand, for shmups), and if they didn’t make it worse somehow in the newer model, I’d recommend it. 3D is fine, and I don’t notice any appreciable lag.
Added two new entries:
Panasonic TX-P50ST50B - 16ms input lag 50" Plasma 1080p (U.S model TC-P50ST50)
Asus VG278H - 7.9ms input lag (at 60Hz) TN Film 27" 1920x1080
Please let me know if I missed anything.
Hi, Smoke. The video says it’s set to private. I take it the video showed it had the same input lag as the previous model? If so I’ll add it to the list.
Weird. I think it’s in the other HDTV lag thread on here. Anyway, it showed the exact same results when put up against the VH236H.
Hey guys, this thread rocks!
I’m hoping some of you guys can help me out here… I noticed the ASUS VE247H isn’t on the list? We’re thinking of using it for the next Canada Cup, so I did some testing against the VH236H EVO monitor.
Inputlag Stopwatch
PC output to single VGA on ATI HD 4700
VGA splitter is powered Monoprice VAS-814PF
Monitors are VE247H (left) and VH236H EVO monitor (right)
Both monitors set to game mode
Camera is Canon SD1000 set to 1600 ISO (set to take 10 shots by itself)

Do you think it’s safe to say that these monitors are similar? They appear to be virtually identical, but I’m hoping I can get some community feedback on this to help me out in case I missed anything?
The picture, moreso the colours at least so far, on the VE247H appear to be much nicer than the EVO monitor too.
Will try HDMI tomorrow. I’m also looking to add some results for a particular LG model that we’ve been using as well… should be up sometime tomorrow!
Pretty sure that’s the 2011 model. I’ll have to do some looking to see what the difference (if there really is any) is between the two models. I’m am curious about a couple of things. The E550 has a very shiny screen does the D550? If so is it distracting? Also, have you noticed any “buzzing” from the set if you are more then 2 feet away from it?
Has anyone ever tried this monitor? http://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VT2755LED-27-Inch-Professional-Functionality/dp/B007BPQWDG
I have to get a monitor that takes y,pb,pr component cables cus I have a very old 360 that has still not got rrod. it doesnt have hdmi, so i ws wondering if that one lags if anyones tried it or not, if not, anyone know any monitors you know that aren’t too bad with input lag that take hd component cables?
Nos99, seems to be the case I’ll add it to the list.
Smoke, sounds good man…I’ll also add it to the list.
BrawlPro, even if you have an old X360 you can also buy the VGA cable to hook it up to monitors that way. So, you don’t end up with one that lags over component due to signal processing.
