It looks like the rockband 2 test that I used. Or the same idea at least.
No, I don’t think it’s like the rockband 2 test at all.
Any good new sub 1-frame HDTV’s? Is the list on the first page of this thread, up to date?
You hold up a device up to the monitor/display while it flashes and it measures the input lag. The same is done with a Rockband 2 guitar. It might be more accurate, but the concept is the same.
rockband tests or similar do not accurately measure input lag, at all.
eizo offers a lag <1ms, plus a response time of around 8.5ms: http://www.prad.de/new/monitore/test/2011/test-eizo-fs2332-teil9.html#Latenzzeit
no info on the alienwares…
I cant believe it, it seems philips has released a 42 inch led tv that has zero! input lag.
In a review from a polish hdtv site an input lag test was repeated several times and it appeared that there was zero input lag when the kino (cinema) mode was chosen.
To make it even stranger, in game mode the input lag was 100ms, only in cinema mode it as 0 ms!
The review also concludes that the led tv has excellent black levels, shadow detail, panel uniformity and colors.
It is cheap too.
Can someone with a Philips 42PFL4007 please confirm that the input lag is 0 ms in cinema or movie mode?
This the link to the translated webpage:
My mistake if that’s how the rockband 2 test works. I thought it was similar to the guitar hero test.
No good news really. The list is up to date. Hopefully, we start seeing more low input lag HDTVs before the year is out.
ruudboek:
sadly, this is not true.
the test uses a laptop (!) and a flash-based software (!) to measure the input lag. that means that it has absolutely no accuracy whatsoever.
first, the laptop display already lags by itself. second, flash-based software gives you random input lag results that are not accurate at all.
the tv might have 20 ms of lag, or 60 ms…anyway, forget the test you linked.
everything but an oscilliscope or a crt+smtt 2.0 does not give you accurate lag measurements as of now.
I think everyone ought to be emailing this guy to let him know we would love this.
I’m sorry i didn’t inform you correctly, the test on the Philips 42PFL4007 was apparently not performed with a laptop, but with a proper CRT monitor.
Here is a picture of the CRT monitor involved (its on the left side):
Also, even if the flash software would give random input lag results, this reviewer repeated it several times and the input lag was always the same, 0 ms. There is no variation in 0 ms, so you can’t go wrong with that a.f.a.i.k.
ruudboek:
again, CRT doesn’t matter in this case, because the software used (flash-based tool) gives out RANDOM measurements that are NOT accurate. the tv could have 15 or 65 ms lag.
see http://www.prad.de/en/monitore/specials/inputlag/inputlag.html for an explanation.
How is the Asus Vh236H when you feed it a 720 signal?
Hey guys looking into purchasing a Benq xl2420tx it is stated to have an input lag of 13-14ms now i know this is bordering on 1 frame of lag but still classified as sub 1 frame my query now is will it affect gameplay alot pertaining to fighting games such as sf4 and the like?
I tested mine over VGA when I got it and it had about half a frame of lag at 1080p and about 1 frame at 720p. I assume HDMI is comparable but you never know.
Ok, i have asked him to repeat the tests with SMTT 2.0. I am not sure if that is going to happen though, because i think he only had the tv for a short time.
