Sub 1 frame HDTV/Monitor Input Lag Database

Forgive the bump but, Will this actually work to reduce any lag coming from my TV or what?

From what I gather (and I’m no expert) what this will do is eliminate post-processing on your TV. It doesn’t actually “accelerate” the signal per-say, but it removes the ability for the TV to do all that wonderful post-processing that causes extra lag on the TV itself. On some TV’s this can be turned off on HDMI inputs, but on others, the only way to eliminate post-processing is via a VGA cable.

PS3 and Wii VGA cables are very finicky because it totally depends on the monitor/TV you use. If your display supports SYNCH ON GREEN then it should work fine, but if it doesn’t this cable might not work for you. I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think they use an integrated circuit on these cables.

When I have time I’m going to make my own PS2 VGA cables using this as a referrence:

What about a HDMI to DVI converter? i.e. just a standard changer, no box.

HDMI and (single) DVI transmit the exact same video signal.

Is there a particular reason you don’t do the normal reply with quotes option? I totally missed that you responded to me since it never showed up in my alerts.

Edit: Thanks for the information and the link though.

So on a standard TN monitor with only DVI or VGA as an option, is there any advantage to either?

well, VGA could give you an advantage lag-wise. but this is far from sure because using VGA does not necessarily mean that there won’t be any processing. afaik, you can’t circumvent scalers by using VGA, for example.

Hey guys,

Does anyone have any idea about the input lag for these monitors:

ASUS VS228H 21.5" TFT http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VS228H-P-21-5-Inch-Full-Monitor/dp/B005BZNDOO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1334120361&sr=1-1

ASUS VS247H-P 23.6" TFT http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VS247H-P-23-6-Inch-Full-Monitor/dp/B005BZNDS0/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I just sold my old monitor and I want to get a new one mainly for SF, so it must have good input lag and I just can’t go by assumptions. I couldn’t find the EVO ASUS VH236H monitor locally, only way I can order it is online and it’ll be more expensive than both of the models I mentioned

I’m mostly interested in the VS247H-P since it’s larger, most user reviews mentioned that they didn’t feel any noticeable lag with the monitor at all, but I was looking for some more solid info if possible (i.e some millisecond numbers from input lag tests) to be 100% sure, because 4 of my friends will probably get the same monitor too.

Also, can someone please list the models of common monitors that are used in SF4 major tournaments? Whether in the USA, Japan or anywhere else. The first page has a good amount of info about low input lag monitors, but a lot of those numbers are supposedly calculated by an inaccurate testing method (i.e tft central started using the accurate input lag testing method only at the end of last year), that’s why it would help me a lot to know which monitors have been proven to work well with SF4 even in tournament situations.

Just moved from the U2312HM to the U2212HM for free. Input lag and response time seems the same, but the contrast and backlighting are WAY better. Also the smaller size helps a lot to hide the IPS glow. This panel feels like higher quality overall.

HI guys i have a samsung P2370HD and a PS3 and i was wondering what cable is better to reduce input lag, Component Cable or HDMI Cable? I really don’t care about graphics i just want less input lag in fighting games.

It depends on what kind of post-processing the monitor does on different inputs. If none, then there theoretically shouldn’t be any difference. Don’t quote me on that though.

Stupid question but how do you test a monitor or TV that you dont own?

you actually can only test monitors and TVs properly if you own either an oscilloscope or a CRT monitor and smtt 2.0.

Does anyone know if using vga on an Asus VE228H will cut down on lag or can I just use hdmi?

I haven’t noticed anyone mentioning LED sets yet, so I guess I’ll ask. How are they in terms of input lag? I’m in the market for a new TV and saw the Viewsonic VT4210LED retailing for about $599. It seems like Viewsonic has a good reputation for having lag free HDTVs. Is this in line with those? Are all Viewsonics typically good with input lag?

Any word on the new MLG 2012 BenQ GL2450HM regarding lag?

what’s the US model number on that Toshiba set?

Hi all. Has anyone ever seen a sub-1-frame monitor smaller than 19"?

You say near zero,so asus vs248h is the monitor with the lowest input lag? Do you have a number in ms? Is it lower than Dell S2330MX which has 3.8ms?
