Alright so Panny plasmas are going to be good for low lag since they bought Pioneer’s plasma business back in 08 or whatever. Not too interested in going that route since the sizes are typically too big for my gaming space.
I heard things about Toshiba actually releasing LCD panels in Japan that circumvent the post-processing and those getting used at Capcom events about a year ago. What came of that?
Panasonic did purchase Pioneer Kuro tech but they haven’t actually implemented it into the build of their current TV line. They still don’t use the Kuro’s “crystal emissive layer” because it’s prohibitively expensive, which is why the quality of current Panasonics haven’t matched what Pioneer did years ago.
Looked at the PS 3D monitor, using unconventional methods I found lag to be ~22ms (HDMI&component).
I’m looking for feedback on my testing method, which I believe avoids a lot of the normal pitfalls involved in testing. Link at the top. I had tried LED testing, but got frustrated at half lit LEDs, never knowing whether to include the frame when it was half lit or fully on/off as the first, and the same with capture from TV where the command history image was fading into view.
It seems that the maker of the list is using PRAD’s measurement (9.3ms), which uses both the input delay (which if I understand the PRAD terminology, was found to be 1.1ms) and the “frame change time” to find a total delay amount.
That’s a pretty valid question and I’m wondering the same thing myself. There was a thread here, where I think Cicada posted that the Alienware AW2210 has less lag than the Asus VH236 monitor, if you hook it up using dvi to hdmi cables, but for some reason the thread was removed. I would like to see some concrete results on the aw2210 over hdmi, since that is the most commonplace setup.
Hello all, I am very new to the world of posting on forums, however, much more experienced in the world of C.O.D. I am not a SF gamer but I have been playing COD since WAW, and have some experience when it comes to input lag. I originally gamed on a Panasonic 50" plasma for the longest time thinking it was best because it was the biggest. FAIL. One of my buddies who does play SF came over to play and noticed the extreme input lag. I did some research and purchased the ASUS vh236h a month later. My eyes were opened!! Well, I have some expendable income and in reading this forum among many others I have stumbled upon the Dell U2312HM. 0.6 INPUT LAG!? I just purchased it today and really excited to compare it to my trusty ASUS. Oh, by the way, if this Dell rocks my socks, my ASUS will be for sale. Originally bought in December of 2010, still runs like a champ. Hoping to get $100 out of it.
I think the 0.6 ms input lag is a mistake dude, nothing is that low. The evo monitor that you had was definitely fine for input lag for even the most dedicated gamers, id stick with that
When I first saw the 0.6 on this forums list, that was my initial reaction. But after reading this review, http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2312hm.htm, I believed that there may be some merit to it. Worst case scenario… its not true, I go back to my EVO for gaming and have a new desk top monitor, which may not be a terrible thing since isp monitors are supposed to be better for your eyes. VERY interested to see how it compares to my ASUS! Will let you guys know for sure
I just recieved the U2312HM yesterday and had the chance to play a couple games last night. Now, I don’t have a CRT monitor and a high speed camera to really compare it side by side, my review will be based off “feel”. This monitor FEELS smoother than my Evo, and absolutely no problems with blurring or ghosting. I was kinda worried about the advertised 8 ms response time, not input lag, but response time. I wouldn’t say it blows the EVO out of the water but I think i can tell a difference for the better. Oh, and the biggest improvement is the detail you can see in the darker parts of the maps with this Dell! I’m guessing you can chalk that up to the IPS panel. If you’re on a tight budget, I wouldn’t make the splurge but if you can afford it I definately think it is an upgrade. Oh and by the way, it’s on sale from Dell only through March 1st. I will post again after I put a couple more days on it.
