I got banned from the 3rd Strike Facebook group last night for not going along with a top player circle jerk and one of the mods decided to be a crybaby about it because I disagreed with him.
Why is it so hard for people to remember that not everyone who plays a game is trying to be an Evo winner and that people doing what works for them even if you disagree is going to happen whether you like it or not?
Nobody on that group was really casual, it was just the mentality of it. I don’t get why, for a game like 3s that has a limited player base at best outside of Japan, you’d cop a hipster attitude like, “Wtf are you using back+MK for when it doesn’t work offline, even though you’re playing online” and basically act like people aren’t really playing the game unless they’re playing offline and in Japan. The advice he gave was good, it was just wrapped in a bunch of elitism.
As an MvC2 player, you of all people should know that getting people to play an older game, it’s a lot easier to catch flies with honey than vinegar. You never know who the next Wong or Daigo will be.
as for the rest, i can appreciate that. its like playing online magnetos that abuse the lag making it harder to roll so they keep doing the same goddamn cr hk sjc add hk otg shit mexican combo.
basically, joining a forum for a game where serious players post shows, wether you mean it or not, a desire to AT LEAST learn more about the game and get better. stuff like the back+mk example, while wrapped in douchery, is at its core advice to help you level up your game. dont just get mad about it, learn how to find the good message inside. itll do you wonders in the groups like that. Im an admin of the MvC2 group and its so fucking hard to figure out who genuinely wants to learn the game and who just wants to be a coolfunnyguy and post “how do i win with dan/hayato/akuma”
wait…where did losing to casual players come in? I must have missed that part
being casual doesnt=scrub, but being an asshole wont win you any favors
One admin threatened to ban me because a few other forum members and I took it upon ourselves to constantly satirize the fact that he believes in the idea that the Jews control everything.
Got an infraction on another forum by sharing that “Shaved a$$ hole” story I saw here years ago. They said that they found the term “chunks of a$$ nuggets caught between the a$$ hair” inappropriate and the thread got deleted.
Years ago, when the B series was ending and EVO was beginning, I was banned by Mr. Wizard for asking if he could give me a Truffle Shuffle in Las Vegas.
I didn’t ask on SRK, I asked in #capcom. This was in the days where the Cannons still ran the site so he couldn’t really abuse his power like he can now.
