Nobody on that group was really casual, it was just the mentality of it. I don’t get why, for a game like 3s that has a limited player base at best outside of Japan, you’d cop a hipster attitude like, “Wtf are you using back+MK for when it doesn’t work offline, even though you’re playing online” and basically act like people aren’t really playing the game unless they’re playing offline and in Japan. The advice he gave was good, it was just wrapped in a bunch of elitism.

As an MvC2 player, you of all people should know that getting people to play an older game, it’s a lot easier to catch flies with honey than vinegar. You never know who the next Wong or Daigo will be.

basically, joining a forum for a game where serious players post shows, wether you mean it or not, a desire to AT LEAST learn more about the game and get better. stuff like the back+mk example, while wrapped in douchery, is at its core advice to help you level up your game. dont just get mad about it, learn how to find the good message inside. itll do you wonders in the groups like that. Im an admin of the MvC2 group and its so fucking hard to figure out who genuinely wants to learn the game and who just wants to be a coolfunnyguy and post “how do i win with dan/hayato/akuma”

My whole thing was, don’t complain about shit that WORKS online when you’re PLAYING ONLINE. It was basically a laundry list of stuff he lost to that according to him wouldn’t work offline. Maybe so, but you’re not playing offline, so man up and learn to deal. If anything, keep that shit to yourself so when you money-match those people who don’t know that stuff doesn’t work offline, you’ll be able to line your pockets. :lol:

Yeah, just hit up a supermod. That supermod will of course check in with the mod who banned you to determine what went on, but there’s an avenue for this. Bear in mind that if you’re on an alternate account after being banned, that’s grounds to be rebanned. Sort out the ban first.

I have been perma-banned, as in “Expires: Never,” from the official WoW forums no less than three times. The first was when I said, in the OT forum, that Evangelion was garbage. The second was when the ban vanished out of nowhere for some reason and I called a Green poster (not Blue, Green; the tryhard “MVPs” who think they work for Blizz) a fucking buffoon. The third was when my Battle.Net got banned because I fell on hard times and sold my gold for money.

In all cases, my bans disappeared either on their own or after I lied (“my account got hacked I swear” lol) or sent them pictures I drew in MS Paint as incentive to un-ban me. I’m currently able to post, but I don’t, because if there’s a dumber forum than SRK GD, it’s the official WoW forum.

About ten years ago I was banned by an admin that got it into his head that I was dating a 13 year old mod on the site.

When I was 10 years old, I got banned from an AOL gaming forum for asking what tossing salad was. The thread was talking about it and just asked.

Why in the bloddy hell di they have a 13 year old as a mod?

It was a forum related to newgrounds, the average age for the site was probably 16.

Also she was actually a pretty smart little shit, tended to shut down trouble better than mods on most sites, when she wasn’t causing it.

FF Alpha forums in 1999 or 2000. Favoritism between a couple moderators and a small group of pricks allowed them to go around bashing other members for their entertainment. I didn’t put up with it, so I called them all out, got like two posts in from defending myself before I got flamed by the group and then banned by one of the mods.

I asked about it when I could log on again, a mod hadnt banned me, and I didnt have enough infraction points for an auto ban. Shit just happened and nobody knew why.
