Well yeah if you jumpkick your way though the game it’s basically easy mode, but extremely boring. The best Jumpkick in the game goes to Ash though. Shiva, Max, SOR3 Blaze all have good ones too. If you’re going to Jump Kick your way though the game make sure you turn the timer off cause some sections will take forever.
Also what’s everyone’s thoughts on CPU teamates? I’ve played with everyone, and Rudra and Ash standout as the best two followed closely by Shiva (all balanced). Rudra because her series is lightning quick, and she always seems to use it at max range. Her only drawback is low damage, but since I basically use the CPU as a distraction while I do the heavy lifting this isn’t a big deal. She’s also got the use anywhere Ninja Magic.
Ash is great because of the Super Sexy Pelvic Dream Smash ™, and he does the most damage out of all the CPU characters because his series does SO much damage. It’s second only to Max when Max gets all the hits from his third attack. And since 80+% of the time that’s what the CPU is attacking with he does more damage than anyone.
Shiva is nice, but the lack of the Police makes him slightly less effective. He also doesn’t seem to like to use his range like he should be. I guess this is because the CPU has a set range in which it “notices” enemies. It kinda negates what he could be doing. The good thing is that he fights bosses better than anyone.
The only thing I don’t like about all the CPU characters is they suck with weapons. I do my best to pick up weapons and chuck them off the screen
What do you mean? The path farthest to the left is SoR1, and the path your cursor starts on is SoR2. The ones on the right contain SoR3’s levels, but they’re jumbled up, and the one on the far right isn’t even a full path (you play through one and a half levels and then get sent to the SoR2 path).
Bombergames’ site being down is hurting me, I need more discussion.
@Hotobu: tried it out for the first time today, its pretty cool and I think the a.i. is decent, though playing that with exploding enemies is a big no no
Been playing all day today, but haven’t been able to get to the SOR3 ending, keep getting the Terminator-X path :X
small comments:
coughthisshouldbeonggpoor2dfifpossiblecough
that trucker is absolutely hilarious
saw someone mention a secret treasure room to use for points? how to get there please? :o
^Terminator path is the SoR3 ending path to this game. You either:
SoR3 Endings

Fail to stop the bomb on time and blow up inside the building. But it still counts as a game completion.
Get the keycard and defeat Shiva without stopping the bomb. You escape, but you’ll see the collateral damage caused from failing to stop the bomb.
Stop the bomb and defeat Shiva, but the ending says Mr. X is still out there and to try another route.
…They all suck[/details]
-'Did another solo mania run w/ Blaze starting on the SoR2 path and ending on the SoR3 path. I think that’s the path with the most lives/cash along the way. Still couldn’t do it in one credit but I managed to beat the default top score this time.
After that I took Shiva for a spin on the latter half of the alternate SoR2 ending path (used level select):
path
Spoiler
the path where you go up on stage six and end up fighting Onihime and Yasha (Blaze twins). Then end up going through the secret cave, monster gallery and secret lab before ending up on the SoR2 elevator.
I think that is by far the hardest ending path on mania. Robots/seekers, ninjas, and kickboxers every… fucking… where.
Nah, I don’t overuse it, I just use it more than I used to. It’s more for crowd control (along with kikosho for Blaze) when things hectic than as a means to kill everybody. Once the numbers get cut down enough, I can use jumping down+B to get in on enemies and then play the ground game/combo game from there. The clock never ran out on me (which more than likely will happen if all you do is jumpkick, like you said).
Re: CPU helpers: I only tried it once and set it to aggressive with SoR1 Axel as the helper. He’s pretty good; he has decent attack speed and wouldn’t hesitate to use grand upper and his fwd + a special at the best times. I’m guessing his grand upper is invincible because he never got beat out of it.
The only real weakness I saw in the AI was on the windy construction stage. He kept getting bodied by falling barrels (wouldn’t avoid them) and falling in the pit. Then he got SCRAPED by the Donovan driving the bulldozer and picks Dr. Zan after losing his first continue. I’m like “Really? I didn’t ask you to pick him, motherfucker.”.
Dr. Zan’s AI kept interrupting my combos and throwing enemies around (usually hitting me while I’m focused on the other half of the enemies). I forgot who it picked third but it ended up dying at stage 7.
I think I’ll try some more CPU helpers on different behavior settings before I decide how I ultimately feel about them (I only liked SoR1 Axel the time I tried it).
The “Secret” treasure room basically means going through the SOR3 route and to keep going back in the rooms over and over again for more cash.
SOR1 Axel’s Grand Upper isn’t invincible.
Zan is THE WORST FUCKING TEAMMATE EVER, and to make it worse the computer seems to love to pick it (must be a robot thing). He does pitiful damage, and his running offensive special explodes so he’s constantly hitting himself, and you, with it. Also note that picking an aggressive teammate is not recommended. They attack any and everything on the screen, and don’t respect your “personal space.” This means hitting enemies who you’ve got grabbed, and not trying to get on a different horizontal plane so they don’t hit you. Balanced is the way to go.
Finally the AI’s biggest weakness is that it barely recognizes any threat that isn’t a run-of-the-mill enemy. This includes obstacles of any kind and even enemies in vehicle stages. You’ve really got to baby sit them around hazards. They do make jumps just fine, but they don’t fight with any awareness of the pit. That includes not doing moves that make them jump back into the pit. i.e. Shiva’s slams, Blitz moves, and the last hit of Ash’s series attack.
Okay, how do you get the key card in the SOR3 Path? Because I’ve gone through that level so many times in level select and could never find it. I’ve found the computer that runs the count down and destroyed it, but could never find the key card.
Aggressive is ok for a partner if you turn off player-to-player dmg. Which the game doesn’t count as a cheat, and then therefore does not reduce your score/awards for. Although it is kind of a cheat.
Heh, i’ve had really similar behavior with the AI constantly repicking to Zan on continues. Feels like it’s 50% or more of the time. Thought i was just seeing a stats anomaly or something.
It’s in the room with a bunch of boxes and bonus items. It’s the green flat item. Once you get it you just go to the elevator and go down. The control panels explode once you reach the bottom floor.
I’ve done that, and Shiva say’s Mr. X isn’t here and I defeat him and get the bad ending. I really want that extra boss from SOR3 that’s the president’s imposter. I love that boss fight from SOR3.
So I did a run through with a CPU partner for the first time and wow the game is much easier that way. Deciding on who to unlock first or if I should unlock the SOR1/2 character option. Anyone have a good choice I should go with?
Pros
-Her standard attacks can hit multiple enemies, multiple times. Her whip can protect her from enemies behind her.
-Her special can be used anywhere
-Her standard knife attacks don’t use up weapon meter
-Jabs have long range (You can jab the wrestlers and not get hit by their combo breaker)
-Potentially infinite jabs (probably depends on pause delay)
Cons
-Because most of her attacks hit multiple times, each individual hit does low damage.
Wow this game is a lot easier with the CPU partner. The enemies seem to be slower too for some reason. I’m using SOR3 Max who seems pretty good. I think Axel might be bottom tier in this game since his damage is so much lower and he doesn’t have priority either.
I kept friendly fire on and put the CPU on Balanced. I’ll try them on Aggressive with FF off sometime.
It’s kinda sad how gimped Axel is. There’s pretty much no reason to use him now. In SOR3 he wasn’t that great but at least he was a nice mid-tier character. I always kinda figured Axel was the main character and I usually prefer the main characters not to be bottom tier in games. Oh well. Maybe I’ll discover some way to make him not suck, but I doubt it. I liked SOR2 Axel a bit better than Max because Axel had better matchups against bosses, but in this game he sucks against the bosses too.
Also i seem to be missing a few endings in my cut scene collection. Ive gone throgh the game a about 25 times LOL but still cant seem to get them. Any ideas? I only have 3,4,5,6 at the moment
