Streets of Rage 4 Announced!

I’ve changed my mind, the most annoying enemy has to be the cop with the taser, he can dash really quick and grab you. I think my landlord heard me scream when I finally beat the Sky train level on hard with slow ass Floyd.

I enjoyed fighting the police commissioner for some reason, liked his design too des how simple it was

Which ones? The yellow ones you just let attack first. Once they do their flying kick combo you can get em. For the rest just jab them.

You just have to treat it like older beatemups and dodge by not being there. A lot of strong enemies you can beat by letting them attack and avoiding it, then hitting them after. For Diva for example, in the neutral just wait for her to start her snake grab thing and walk up or down to avoid it then punish after

Axel’s defensive measure and best way to gain space is jumping, that’s not counting the jump from vaulting over a an enemy from grab state. I avoided not-Freddy Mercury’s strings with it, and it left him open for more hits. I’m not getting the complaints people have with him.

Hitting a mook with a charge attack to send them into a group of other mooks for the chonky goodness will never get old.

I’m in Chinatown and I’ll probably never beat it. Once the music kicks in

I’ve just unlocked all the characters, it took me less time than expected. Zan and Max suck. SOR2 Skate might just be the best character

Just beat Chinatown. Boss fight was nice! The next stage (Stage 7) the boss fight is something alright, haha! I’m almost there with beating it.

I’m starting on Normal for my first playthrough and it’s been challenging but ‘fair’. The complaints I’m seeing with Axel I can’t really get behind because, he really does have the tools to deal with everything, without the need for extra mobility.

Maybe I’ll be singing a different tune on higher difficulties? P* games, Bloodborne and the Yakuza series and spin-offs etc. have trained me better for this? Don’t know, but nothing so far (up to Stage 7) has given me “WTF…” moments like the aforementioned games and developers.

Wow I feel the opposite. Max seems really good and skate seems really bad lol

Stage 7 Complete

Summary

Being able to throw Estel’s grenades back at her really help. Don’t know why I didn’t try that earlier, lol. I did notice on that if a grab her and do your grab combo she drops a grenade that you can pick up at your leisure.

Obviously the sooner the better, but it’s better than freaking out about a grenade flashing red.

Also I beat her down while the Commish still had plenty of health and the fight ended regardless.

Beat the game with my brother in a single session. We kind of went in blind because really after the reveal trailer we haven’t looked at any updates. So everything was a nice surprise. I had fun. Really the only time we struggled was with the Commissioner, but after we looked at the controls and saw the different moves that could be done. It was smooth sailing from there. Me and my brother play SoR1 pretty often so lack of defensive options is pretty normal to us. My bread and butter with Axel was timely jabs then use → -> jab, that work well for a lot of the enemies and bosses. You can probably put some special moves in there too.

Summary

Our least favorite level was on top of the train with having to jump to avoid getting hurt. At least it was short and had a fun boss fight with Estel and Commissioner.

I might be in the minority, but Estel :ok_hand: :ok_hand: :ok_hand:

Had fun, would play again.

Underwhelmed with the music so far, that’s the one thing I expected to blow me away. But I’m only at that dock area so far, maybe my opinion will change

Stage 8

This level is fucking GORGEOUS! The paintings on the wall, the ‘Love’ exhibit with just the right amount of red and pink. The face that reminded me of Egg of the King. Kool-Aid man Ohhh YEEAH

About to start Stage 10. I should finish this by tonight knocks on wood

Summary

I hope Estel is playable. SOR1 is the only one I liked before this and everything about her, just like SOR1, goes HARD.

I’ve only started using the Blitz Attack with Axel around Stage 7, but I’m liking the charge hit after the third and fourth hits. I should incoporate the Blitz Attack more, but I like what I have now. Especially timing the i-frames on vaults, throw and slams, to use i-frames. Timing jumps is a blast too.

I was sad to find out that Shiva is still incapable of picking up weapons.

Best tracks are after that point IMO. Chinatown especially. Also the Art Gallery

I too hope she’ll be playable. She would have a fun move set.

He’s fucking broken, he doesn’t need weapons.

Weirdest multiplayer game I got into was with some dude playing the Commissioner. On stage 2. Got really confusing during the boss fight since it’s frickin’ hard to track who’s who.

Does shiva had his Z button infinite from SOR3

First playthrough down. Loved it! I’ll start using Axel’s blitz attack from now on, lol. I used it most in the last boss fight especially when I got it down to the last quarter of life. Probably gonna use Blaze for the next character.

Gonna finish FotN before returning to this, but yeah. Don’t regret going digital on this. This is going to be on heavy rotation.

After this and he Dragon’s Trap remaster, I hope Sega commissions a Shinobi game.
