AE 2012 is balanced with unblockables, there are a lot of viable characters. The game has unblockables and is balanced. 3S is unbalanced because they never patched it, and them not patching is another example of… them not patching it. If they never patched the game can’t be balanced.
It has 5 new characters, it couldn’t be simply a balance patch for 2nd Impact. And the new characters were the less balanced, Chun and Makoto are among the strongest in the game and Twelve and Remy are among the weakest. Those 5 characters never got balanced.
This is going to sound harsh, and I appologize to Ryu mains… but screw that guy. That dude has been holding this game back. He’s been holding every SF game back since 1997. It’s like pulling teeth to get people try new characters in these games because of Momma Ryu’s warm, comforting embrace. Try some new characters, FGC. When Darkstalkers comes out, what the hell are people going to do? Momma, Poppa, Guile, Blanka, M. Bison, Chun Li, and the rest of the old-as-hell SF2 cast won’t be there to make everything okay.
Might as well start now, getting people used to new characters.
And, it’s not as if the SF characters didn’t get buffs, too. Just like every other time Capcom revises a game: Focus on the nerfs. Ignore the buffs.
The end result will be people putting at least one Tekken character on their team…like you’re supposed to.
Again, gotta hold those hands and get people to play the game how it’s supposed to be played. Some of us figured it out ourselves: 1 SF character + 1 Tekken character = SFxT. They work well together. That’s intentional.
And, quite frankly, the Tekken characters are much more interesting than the 21 year old SF characters. The more we see of them, as far as I’m concerned, the better. Capcom knows this. Again, they aren’t stupid.
Since when? You’re not supposed to do anything, if someone wants to put two SF characters together they’re not playing the game wrong. And people are focusing on the nerfs because the nerfs out number the buffs by a large margin and even on characters that REALLY didn’t need nerfing like Hugo. A lot of the crying is pretty ridiculous but Capcom doesn’t have the greatest track record right now of balancing games, yeah SFIV gets more balanced each update but it also gets more boring and tame and this seems to be following that process.
I won’t accept an apology from someone who made such a biased statement right there. I play other fighting games. Yet Ryu remains one of my favorite characters ever. But haters wanting him to become mid tier at best just because “he is holding the game back” sounds like a scrub quote.
Also, anyone is entitled to play who they want. You really say it’s about having 1 SF and 1 TK character? lol. Come on, man! That’s just sounds dumb. Sorry.
I dont plan on playing Darkstalkers at all honestly. I personally think it’s a stupid investment by Capcom. If anything DS should just blend in with street fighter and add to the cast.
I personnaly think that Ryu should be mid tier at best. He should be solid in every ways, but not the best in any category. That character should be the one everyone try to understand the basics of a game, and when you understand the mechanics, your preference should go to another character, who’s acting like you prefer. Footsies, Rush, Mix up? It’s up to you, but Ryu shouldn’t be the ideal character for any tools.
