I have some counter points in bold under your answers.
[details=Spoiler]Who was the old monk that left Ryu on Goukenās doorstep?
Who is the crazy old fisherman who gives Ken sh*t all the time?
The same person. Comic relief character that they created specifically for the series, Goma
Street Fighter Resurrection | World Warrior | Assassinās Fist Thread
**When he hands Ryu over he is far from comical and actually appears to have powers and a sense of destiny. He disappears in a mysterious way and speaks to Gouken somehow from distance without raising his voice. If itās the same character the crazy fisherman is an act to disguise a powerful mysterious character.
**Heās laugh gives it away that they are the same character. He may disappear all of a sudden, but I think thatās just the directing giving the illusion of him disappearing, making the scene more surreal than it physically is. Heās still walking away afterwards in the next shot, so itās very possible that he simply just walked by them. But you are right that in the flash-back he seems more omnipotent and less comedic, mostly because the nature of event and tone of the scene demanded it from him. This is where Ryu starts his journey after all, a rather important scene for one of the series main stay character, not to mention the face of the franchise. Just because we see a crazy Goma the majority of the time doesnāt mean he canāt have a serious side to him either. It could very well be a front for something greater but at the very least it seems like Goma is rather fond of Ryu.Was that Guile they bumped into when they entered the bar?
No Guile. Only Ono.
Iām talking about the American military dude who literally bumped into them and stared them down and Ken said āwhatās his problem?ā He didnāt have crazy hair but this was the pre Alpha time period⦠Otherwise what was the point of that scene?
I think you may be looking too much into a simple background character and random occurance. To me it was just something there to show how out of place the two kids were, more so Ryu than Ken. The whole thing maybe only took up about 2 or 3 seconds. Why was Danās name on the wall of Ansatsuken Masters? Isnāt he too young?
I think that wall was just the name of practitioners? Dan briefly trained under the tutelage of Gouken before getting kicked out. From this it mustāve been before the time of Ken/Ryu.
Really? I didnāt realise he trained with Gouken. I thought he trained with Go Hibikiā¦
Crotchpuncha answered this in earlier posts.

yeah no way that was guileā¦but guile could be in that group. they def implied some relationship by saying the military base is near by

Ok yea thatās true, heās just comically huge in SF4 and itās what has been at the forefront for the last few years kind of forgot.

Looks jacked to meā¦
Thatās SFII era artwork which is a while after the events of this show.
Fair point but my main argument is he looks too much like a noob kid he needs to more buff to sell the legendary world warriror image.
HES NOT LEGENDARY WARRIOR STATUS YET. JEEZUS. he is a noob kidā¦he looks exactly the part he is playing. these guys have just started their journeys as warriors. the fact you are so fixiated on how big their muscles are shows me you know basically shit about martial arts.
Year 1 martial arts students build muscle quickly you do realize?
There is reference material that doesnāt line up with your wishes you do realize? The point of this was to be really faithful to the IP. Ryu and Ken are not jacked muscle monsters at this point in their life.
Any chance we could use the cast for an all new digitized character fighting game adaptation (with SFA2 gameplay)?

Somebody read my theory and tell me if they think thereās any weight to it!
[details=Spoiler]Togo Igawa plays Goutetsu and Goma.
If Goma is both the fisherman and the mysterious monk that brought Ryu to Gouken then we already know that the ācomicalā aspect is an act. When he delivers Ryu he keeps his face hidden from Gouken and he disappears quickly. He appears to have powers and is very serious in nature. He also has a sense of Ryuās potential. He seems wise.
My theory is Goutetsu survived, used Ki to regenerate or was revived after the Raging Demon. He now lives off the land pretending to be a crazy old fool. Perhaps to avoid Akumaās attention.
If Goutetsu did survive / regenerate, or was brought back to life (by Gouken?) this means they (Capcom) will be able to say the same for Gouken since we have all been wondering why/how he is alive in SF4.
Iām guessing that they use the knowledge that is in the scroll that Goutetsu gives to Gouken. The knowledge is unknown to Akuma and probably explains how to bring people back to life (or use Ki to survive / regenerate).
Afterall, we saw Gouken bring Ken and Ryu back to life.
[/details][details=Spoiler]The old man was in a trendy bar with lots of young bitches, rocking with Ono of all people, it could be the fisherman/monk are the same character and is a ghost.
The monk walks past Gouken without him noticing and doesnt reveal his identity
The fisherman is out in the middle of nowhere and nobody ever sees him except Ryu/Ken

ā¦you realize youāre an idiot. i teach martial arts and have taken it longer than you have been alive. everyone is differentā¦everyones bodies do not develop they way you magically think they do. just cause someone works out hard it doesnt mean they will show signs depending how they are built. some people are decievingly strongā¦i have 12 year olds who could choke out a few grown men and they look skinny as hell. stop watching fantasy shows thinking thats how it really works.
That to, you really donāt need to be a towering monster of muscle to be intimidating. WWE is fake an shit you know.
Oh wow. 6th Sense style!
or Star Wars Style.
Heās a Hado ghost
On the muscle talk. Compare the Ken in the Legacy video vs Assassin Fist Ken.

Thatās same actor playing Ken in both of them, Christian Howard. I think the actors did a pretty good job of bulking up for the film given the size of the project. Some people are just asking for the moon with these things, when theyāve already been given the fucken world, something about 3x larger.
@SenninSRKā everytime you postā¦you just remind me why i got your ass on block. your whole complaint is about them being super fucking jacked bigā¦when everyone has pointed out, this is just the beginning of the journey. now you wanna put logic into thisā¦fine we can do thatā¦men do not stop growing til their 20s. they have the potential to big alot bigger, but they are still children. they havent stopped developing yetā¦they are just 17/18 in this series. with time and training they can/will become alot biggerā¦but for w/e reason you think they are supposed to be legendary huge. this is even before alphaā¦before any sf tournament. everything you say is wrong.
@SenninSRKā everything you say is wrong.

What kind of physical training did you have to do for your role of Gouken, was it challenging?Preparing for SFAF, I would train two days on/one day off sometimes even training twice a day as director Joey instructed me. I did some upper body, core, and lower body training in the form of kicks and running, I also had to take these protein shakes, and I can tell you, itās not easy to put on muscle! My genetics tend toward a lean frame, so in comparison to myself, Chris, Mike and Joey are monsters! Actually everything was a challenge, but because we loved and enjoyed making the film so much, we were able to help each other and surmounted all of those obstacles.

What kind of physical preparation was involved to pack on the extra muscle for the role of Ryu?Basically, I would be in the gym 6 days a week keeping my workouts to an hour each. If you try to do too much, there is the risk of overtraining to the point where muscles donāt grow. I had to be really disciplined. I would do the minimum needed to get my joints warmed up to avoid injury. It was lots of high weight and low rep training, with little rest in between sets. The aim was to widen my frame and to shock my body into growth by lifting heavy weight from the ground, so Iād do powerlifting exercises like deadlifts, squats and shoulder presses which I never did before. Those are the exercises that put the most stress on your body.
In between the workouts I would eat as many meals as possible taking in at least 3,000-4,000 calories per day. For a few months, Iād wake up in the middle of the night, to drink down some of those gross mass-gainer shakes. I couldnāt afford to go a full eight hour sleep without taking in calories; I must have gone through seven to eight of those huge containers! So, the eating part, for a body type like mine was pretty hard for me!
http://kungfukingdom.com/interview-with-christian-howard/
What kind of training was involved in preparing for it?Well, Iām quite a contrast to how I was in āWarrioressā -a young boy and skinny as a rake! When we knew āSF Legacyā was going to happen I tried to put on some size and not disappoint people and make it look like cosplay. My brother was very much into weight training when we were younger so I was always asking his advice. For me it was about eating more than Iād ever eaten before so I put on as much size as I could for āLegacyā āI was a lot stronger but jumping etc was harder.
Since then, Joey and I basically kept up the training over the years while working on other projects to get to the level we needed to reach. It was harder for some of the other guys like Mike Moh, he put on a lot of muscle in the short time frame he was given, he did really well to match me. So basically, I was weight training and doing gymnastics several times a week so that I could be in my best condition ever.

What did you have to learn or train specifically for the series?I had to really learn how to kick and Mike Moh (who plays Ryu) actually helped a great deal in teaching me. Iām not flexible at all, so you donāt see me doing high kicks, but Iād do regular daily stretching. I also had to learn the Ansatsuken kata, so I did that thoroughly as well as training kicks and punches on the heavy bag. The early 20ās Goki that I portray in SFAF is more about power, so youāll definitely see the punches. Iām getting into kickboxing these days, Iād like to take more lessons, though I might not reach the level of Mike, Chris and Joey, as theyāve been trained from very young.
By the way, I must mention that I got a real boost from Togo Igawa, he guided and mentored me giving a lot of advice along the way. He helped to get the most out of my acting resulting in an improved performance. I respect and admire him; heās amazing and one of the most successful Japanese actors around. Iād like to follow in his footsteps.
These dudes couldāve easily just phoned it in, did jack all and called it a day. But the fact that they actually went through the effort of trying to bulk up (even if they couldnāt meet whatever ridiculous standards some of the fandom has placed on them) and making it as legit as they possibly could, is something that needs more appreciation. Hell this Ryu did crazy shit like Tatsumaki kicks and Iād value that shit anyday over some muscle-head that wouldnāt have been able to fight choreograph for shit.

also i respect them for not roiding out like some hollywood people do. it shows true potential evolution of the characters physically and mentally in the future. n
Man so much saltā¦
Look all Iām saying is that ryu and ken are not your average everyday dudes. These guys are "the"street fighters so naturally you want then to look the part. When you look at ryu in SF2 your like"damn this guy could punch out a semi"so when you have them portrayed as weak looking it diminishes their profile.
Imagine batman being built like Seth rogan for exampleā¦itās important for ryu and ken to be ripped as hell because it sells their strength and power.
Youāre comparing highly exaggerated fictional artwork with real life people. Thereās a reason why things in fiction are able to stylized so well and canāt be recreated in real life.
Taking E.Honda for example, would you expect a real life Sumo Wrestler to ripped as fuck like E.Honda is in the games?
More sprites here: http://streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/E._Honda
There are limits in real life that arenāt there in fiction.
Just give up dude. Using the stylized art reasoning hes just gonna say thatās why it should be animated and then the Vortex starts. He wants em ripped. Heās been shown plenty of times that they shouldnāt be for multiple reasons. Heās stupid. Moving on.
I have a better idea. He can go jacked up and take over as Ryu himself. Shit I mean you if you want something done, best to do it yourself right? I mean thatās what Joey did with Akuma.
I would say in one ear and out the other. .butā¦Im typing this. so reading comprehension is seriously lacking.
its like he thinks sf2 is the only thing that ever happened in the sf world.
