Naw I think he was talking about using your Ki to create a sort of defense layer or something to that effect to absorb the brunt of the damage. Just a way to not get knocked the fuck out when hit with a Hadou projectile. That was how I took it anyway.
The only other issue I have is that ken and ryu need to be a lot more buff.
The guys basically look like body builders but in this series they are way to thin. If these guys are the pinnacle of human potential they need to get those gains.
ugh. why am i responding to this…they arent the pinnacle. they are just beginners…they are still 18 at this point in the series. they havent even fought in sf1 yet. They are babies …they arent spamming techniques yet. you are bitching about fighters who in the grand scheme just turned into teens.
Somebody read my theory and tell me if they think there’s any weight to it!
[details=Spoiler]Togo Igawa plays Goutetsu and Goma.
If Goma is both the fisherman and the mysterious monk that brought Ryu to Gouken then we already know that the “comical” aspect is an act. When he delivers Ryu he keeps his face hidden from Gouken and he disappears quickly. He appears to have powers and is very serious in nature. He also has a sense of Ryu’s potential. He seems wise.
My theory is Goutetsu survived, used Ki to regenerate or was revived after the Raging Demon. He now lives off the land pretending to be a crazy old fool. Perhaps to avoid Akuma’s attention.
If Goutetsu did survive / regenerate, or was brought back to life (by Gouken?) this means they (Capcom) will be able to say the same for Gouken since we have all been wondering why/how he is alive in SF4.
I’m guessing that they use the knowledge that is in the scroll that Goutetsu gives to Gouken. The knowledge is unknown to Akuma and probably explains how to bring people back to life (or use Ki to survive / regenerate).
Afterall, we saw Gouken bring Ken and Ryu back to life.

[details=Spoiler]The old man was in a trendy bar with lots of young bitches, rocking with Ono of all people, it could be the fisherman/monk are the same character and is a ghost.
The monk walks past Gouken without him noticing and doesnt reveal his identity
The fisherman is out in the middle of nowhere and nobody ever sees him except Ryu/Ken
HES NOT LEGENDARY WARRIOR STATUS YET. JEEZUS. he is a noob kid…he looks exactly the part he is playing. these guys have just started their journeys as warriors. the fact you are so fixiated on how big their muscles are shows me you know basically shit about martial arts.
Your point holds no merit because he’s not a legend yet. He JUST finished training, he hasn’t made a name for himself. You’re wanting him to be SFII Ryu right out the gate when there’s all the Alpha Era shit to get through where he looked like this
[details=Spoiler]Who was the old monk that left Ryu on Gouken’s doorstep? Who is the crazy old fisherman who gives Ken sh*t all the time?
The same person. Comic relief character that they created specifically for the series, Goma Street Fighter Resurrection | World Warrior | Assassin’s Fist Thread
**When he hands Ryu over he is far from comical and actually appears to have powers and a sense of destiny. He disappears in a mysterious way and speaks to Gouken somehow from distance without raising his voice. If it’s the same character the crazy fisherman is an act to disguise a powerful mysterious character.
**He’s laugh gives it away that they are the same character. He may disappear all of a sudden, but I think that’s just the directing giving the illusion of him disappearing, making the scene more surreal than it physically is. He’s still walking away afterwards in the next shot, so it’s very possible that he simply just walked by them. But you are right that in the flash-back he seems more omnipotent and less comedic, mostly because the nature of event and tone of the scene demanded it from him. This is where Ryu starts his journey after all, a rather important scene for one of the series main stay character, not to mention the face of the franchise. Just because we see a crazy Goma the majority of the time doesn’t mean he can’t have a serious side to him either. It could very well be a front for something greater but at the very least it seems like Goma is rather fond of Ryu.
Was that Guile they bumped into when they entered the bar?
No Guile. Only Ono. I’m talking about the American military dude who literally bumped into them and stared them down and Ken said “what’s his problem?” He didn’t have crazy hair but this was the pre Alpha time period… Otherwise what was the point of that scene?
I think you may be looking too much into a simple background character and random occurance. To me it was just something there to show how out of place the two kids were, more so Ryu than Ken. The whole thing maybe only took up about 2 or 3 seconds.
Why was Dan’s name on the wall of Ansatsuken Masters? Isn’t he too young?
I think that wall was just the name of practitioners? Dan briefly trained under the tutelage of Gouken before getting kicked out. From this it must’ve been before the time of Ken/Ryu. Really? I didn’t realise he trained with Gouken. I thought he trained with Go Hibiki…
Crotchpuncha answered this in earlier posts.
