Street Fighter III Double Impact or Third Strike?

2i is indeed good… i guess it’s just the lack of people playin it… plus… the speed feels somewhat too fast… and dudley has that cheap overhead flyin screw shit… anyways its up to the person to decide… it would be nice to see 2i and let people play both @ tourneys… you never know…

Maybe it’s just me but I thought 2i was too slow.

I’m a n00b and need to STFU

Some people like the “feel” of 2nd Impact better. But overall it is pretty jacked up. The biggest difference is Akuma. He is really diesel in that game. Even Sean is higher-tier. His Hk (which is his close HK in 3rd Strike) has great prioty. But at high level play, (atleast back then) it was pretty lame.

I don’t know the most agreed on tier list. But I think it was Ibuki and Shotos, minus Ken. I’m not for sure though. But overall, 3rd Strike is the better choice. But 2I is fun. But it shows that Capcom is awful when it comes to updating games. They make lazy decisions to fix things which drastically changes the characters and the game. I.E. 3rd Strike. Ken and Sean.

You do that.

And fishjie, enough of that shit.

Get this thread back on track.

I only got to experiment with 2I for a short time, but some observatons:

Yes, 2I did have better backgrounds and win/lose animations.

But I feel like the gameplay has been changed for the better. An example being Dudley’s “toss and rose then divebomb your face” broken-ness.

However, the largest fault seems to be Sean’s nerfing. Honestly, what were they thinking? They took that second hit out of his anti-air, they made his SA I take only one parry to stop?! It just boggles my mind. They just don’t want him to succeed I guess.

But I really haven’t been playing 3s long enough to know it intricately. So these are just glaring flaws that I notice.

Okay I’m sorry to get off track but, I love you saotome!

but seriously 2I has some cool things and sean is alot of fun to play with all his crazy links into super but, 3s is more solid, sure a couple of characters may not be as good but overall everythings and improvement in my opinion.

The backrounds in Second Impact are not better or worse than those in 3rd Strike, they are just aestetically different.

There is just a big artistic difference between the two games. You can’t really say it is better or worse.

The backrounds are more static in 3rd. Personally, I prefer the ambient, quiet backrounds of 3rd Strike. Ryu’s, Makoto’s, Necro’s (with snow) and Ibuki’s are my persoal favorites. 2nd Impacts are a little cartoony but it fits the rest of the game’s style very well.

As for gameplay differences, 3rd Strike just feels wayy tighter IMO. I could care less about the tier differences, but Makoto, Q, Twelve, and Remy are sorely missed.

ANYWAY…aside from the stupidity that has slightly derailed this nice little thread.

I played 2I at CF one day and after playing 3S a little too much it really feels different. I was using Dudley and for some reason the controls just felt too loose. In a sense the game did feel a little to cartoony with this creepy kind of flow. Whereas 3S the controllers are tight and where you can almost feel that your hits are gonna connect due to that nice hit detection that was greatly improved with 3S. It still seemed like a fine game but it just doesn’t come close to 3S.

The background were definitely a little too noisy for my tastes. I’m more used to the quiet backgrounds of most fighters. Also, Akuma did own that game for free with the other shotos minus Ken(who later went on to become king shoto in 3S). As fo music, never really got to hear it because it was very loud at CF with them DDR machines and all.

And I still don’t get the gripe with the tiers of 3S. Of course you know they’re there, but seriously, Ken/Chun/Yun can be beaten. You just have to work a little hard for that win.

Also, to say that 3S is a downgraded version of 2I is pretty lame. I find it to be a greatly vast improvement over 2I’s gay fest. Also, parrying is so much better in 3S especially with the addition of the red parry. And having to press two buttons for throwing? Even better.

I think like most people I picked this up a while ago once I realised that there wasn’t going to be a fresh SF for a long, long time so a new game similar to 3S seemed really appealing. This is the only reason people seem to like it, it’s different yet familiar and seems to sit neatly between Alpha and 3S’s visual style.

My friend and I played this over 3S for about 2 weeks but then you just slowly start to miss Q, Makoto etc and you realise that despite the great music (Ryu and Ken’s stages in particular) the backgrounds are slightly too busy for their own good, are poorly animated and tend to draw attention away from the wonderful character sprites too much. Also since you know deep down the game is broken as fuck and that it all feels unsatisfying to play you realise that there’s no point learning it. Suddenly you find that you haven’t touched it for a year and somehow 3S is back being played every day

It’s actually quite simple.

2i has greater style (for those who prefer the comic book feel), 3s has better gameplay. End of debate.

I’m still waiting for some peeps to post up vids of people doing some high lvl of plays in 2I, I wanna some Ibuki/Akuma rapage, the “un-nerfed” Sean, and 2stock Denjin Ryu, anyone who can do that for me, I would greatly appreciate it:tup:

If you’re such a good guy, you’d shut the fuck up and stop trying to derail the thread. Either you contribute and no one fucks with you, or you don’t and your posts disappear. Kinda simple.

Edit: And I don’t wanna hear shit about biased modding, all of the shitty posts are gone now. Once again I refer you all to the Angry Mod Thread, no one’s posts are safe if you want to be a jackass.

Love the AV.

Actually, now that we’re bringing this up, what does make Ken so much better in 3s than in 2i?

His shit isn’t damage scaled to hell anymore(SA3 combos mainly). Amongst other things.

He gets his original throws and and a useless kick move addition.

I still would prefer SI over TS because TS doesn’t seem to have the original and great quality Capcom puts behind every package before their lazy period. SI was a great remix and could possibly be one of Capcom’s best pieces of work. The Parrys are not as bad as NG and the score was great. The animation also looked great.

You can adjust the speed in the OPTIONS, huh? Good luck on that, though :badboy:

Yeah, the Screw was messy.

When me and my buddy played both games today, I took down and noticed things about each game that was good and bad. Ive come to the conclusion that each game is better in different ways. In 2I, Sean, 2stock Denjins, Backrounds, Shin Akuma(haha), Presentation, Tight Artwork. In 3s, Balance, Better parrying system, Competitiveness, Better hit judgement, Urien(he seems to have a more precise aegis reflector in 3s), More characters(if they are to your liking). So in that case, I want to reverse what I said before how “3s is a downgraded version of 21”. And I also have a n00b question. Is the device that allows you to use a dreamcast controller on an Xbox called a Magicbox? Im not to sure.

Wait, you mean Dudley’s screw attack was actually good in SI??

I used to just laugh when people did it cause it looks so goddamn ridiculous.

I never played SI at a high level so I wouldn’t know.

Why on earth would you want to do that? Dreamcast controllers are hands down, one of the worst controllers ever. ESPECIALLY FOR FIGHTERS. EVEN MORE SO FOR CAPCOM FIGHTERS And I love the DC. I also play my fighters on DC. And I can’t stand it, I’d gladly take a genesis controller over it any day. but yeah, check lik-sang. http://www.lik-sang.com/
