hit detection alone is enough to make 3s>2i.
3s hit detection > every other fighting game hit detection, while I always found 2i (and NG) hit detection quite dull.
They just switched focus more on gameplay in 3s, though I admit 2i and NG have a better presentation overall. First time I saw a NG machine my jaws dropped after elena’s bg, just pure 2d bliss. I guess late Capcom just can’t have the best presentation and the best gameplay in the same episode (see CvS1 beautiful bgs -> cvs2 for another reference :P)
Exactly. It’s a masterpiece and shows what can be done when they really want to set out and fine tune a game. I prefer the presentation and some of the backgrounds in NG and 2I as well. I wish Capcom would have included all of the stages from those versions onto 3S, but alas we can’t have it all. D:

fishjie really couldn’t have put it in any more friendly a manner though, and i’m surprised at how the everyone’s held back since i was expecting a very much harsher response. a year isn’t much at all… and i can’t put it much more tactfully than that. also, you mentioned you’ve played 3S for a year; can you confidently say you’ve played 2I long enough to say you prefer it over 3S? besides the eye-candy and Akuma and Sean’s non-suckage and the obvious tidbits that’ve been given away in 2I’s favor, what makes 2I superior to 3S?
and i’m thinking the reason people haven’t gone into detail is because most find the “3S >>>> 2I” case self-evident. it’s not like HF vs ST, or even A2 vs A3. more like SSF2 vs ST, A1 vs A2, CvS vs CvS2, or XvSF vs MvC2.
all 3S has to do in my eyes is make Sean not suck completely, and maybe give Hugo some invincibility frames
I mean, come on. He has the only AA super in the game that gets beat by almost 75% of all jumping attacks if they decide to stick out something like, just before, or in a lot of cases, JUST AFTER(WTF) the super flash. In the end, Gigas is still better, but damn, make him at least a little scarier to just randomly jump on.

In all due honesty, I didn’t really get to play 2I too much, so everything that I’m hearings sounds rather new. When 3SNG came out, I didn’t play too much, because the damn arcade machine where I lived it was up, then it went down for repairs, then up again, and repeat for like…years and the manager was like, fuck this, and changed it for something else…:sad: . Anyways, I never got to play 2I, until my buddy bought it, but even then, I played it for like 15mins only, because the DC controller sucks an elephants nipples for fighting games and he had no arcade stick for the DC so yeah, only when 3S came out, did I start to play it heavily, so all in all, since it was the last installment, I said F.U. to 2I and NG and played 3S instead.
However, reading all the things that everyone’s been posting, I’ve seem to like some of the things that sound great in 2I, “presentation” “2stockDenjinHadouken”. That alone makes me want to play 2I, but seeing as though 2I is considered more unbalanced, I’d rather have something closer to balance, then being further from it…reasons why 3S>2I.
Oh yeah…few noob questions about 2I since I didn’t play it worth shit, I heard that you couldn’t red parry in there, and anyone got vids of high lvl of play in this, I’ve gotta see some 2stockdenjin in action(that shit would’ve rocked if it would’ve went into 3s), and maybe some Ibuki/Akuma rape, peace out:tup:
Yeah, in 2i they had the system where you can hold guard during a combo and then release the stick back to neutral and still be in guard. This prevented parrying second hits on block and red parrying. it did mean you could buffer a super out of block stun recovery easy as pie.
