Well that was B5 and the game was different back then. The only people who’ve continued to play the game consistently are the japanese. We definitely are not on thier level in A3, with the exception of a very very small percentage of players. I think if we had a tourney here in the US featuring A3 in the near future, an ism other than V would place very high. That’s mostly becuase many new players will pick up the game and not know the ins and outs very well. Give those same players about 7 more months of practice or a year, then you’ll probably see Vism dominating the game here in the US. But personally i still think anything is possible. Hell i think cvs, 3s, and mvc2 are all good games even though they are broken as fuck.
And Chaosnightwolf you told me the same thing on kaillera about A3 being random. It’s not that it’s random, it’s that you don’t understand the properties of the game. When i would AA you with jabs you told me that it’s random, but the thing is that the move
properties in the game are just different from anything else that you’ve played. I don’t think you should call something random just becuase you don’t understand it.
I’m surprised nobody mentioned the hit detectoin in A3…I figure if you’re going to knock the game you’d atleast mention some problems with that. Of course…SvC came along and showed us that A3’s HD really wasn’t that bad afterall…
SRK has been about GD for a few years now. There are only a few people that actually know fighting games and post about it on this site, Buktooth and kcjx are two guys that post good info but haven’t been mentioned in this thread. There are only a couple of others that know what they’re talking about in most threads. The A3 thread is really good, pretty much everyone there knows what they’re talking about.
A2 really isn’t that bad of a game. People like to overhype the ACs and CCs a bit. I prefer A3 myself, but A2 is certainly playable and can be a lot of fun.
And Art, Airthrow does kind of bring up a point. I thought you hated SRK and posting, but I’ve seen a lot of posts from you lately. You’ve got to have thicker skin than that, and you can’t really take anything anyone says seriously on this site.

I honesty quit posting most of my info awhile ago, ill answer an occasional question about Joe or Athena but thats about it. I used to post info about CvS2 all the time, I didnt really post outside Strats for almost the first year on srk.

Have you played arcade mode on the highest difficulty in Vf4? What I meant is you cant get very far doing it.If you do lei fei punch combo it will go into boktai stance leaving him open to punishment if all hits are blocked or the last punch is evaded.
Ryu is voiced by the same actor as in A1, Toshiyuki Morikawa. He took a hiatus from Ryu in A2 for some reason. He also does Nash/Charlie in all three. As for the other characters you mentioned, Ken is still Tetsuya Iwanaga, Chun Li is still Yuko Miyamura (Sohryu Asuka Langley!!) and Sakura is still Yuko Sasamoto, the same actors who voiced them in the previous games.

Dial-a-combos and somewhat simple infinites don’t make for the world’s most challenging competitive game. People call MvC2 a button masher FOR THOSE REASONS. On the reverse of the coin I am not the world’s biggest VF4 fan either because of the COMPLEXITIES involved in that game (I’m sorry for being condescending, but it seems ro be the general tone of this thread). Characters like Shun would take half my lifetime to learn with my learning curve (aha! I admit I cannot play a game!). People have reasons other than they get their asses handed to them all the time.

Alpha 3 has no dash, roll, super jumping, air combos, delayed hyper cancel, team supers,etc., so it sucks: Charlie HAS a dash, EVERYONE has a safe fall roll. THIS IS NOT MARVEL OR CVS2. Just get used to it, or better yet DON’T PLAY IT! Out of all “new school” 2d fighters, A3 is most like old school SF. Do you want to hate on Super Turbo or Hyper SF2? without those games there wouldn’t be a MvC2 or a CvS2 (well, Hyper is really a collection of games that pioneered 2d fighters).
I really am sorry if any of my remarks seem harsh or you feel the need to bestow upon me the title of “Scrub” (God that word is more misused than that budget surplus we used to have), but this is what I believe to be true and the truth hurts.

I don’t understand why one would say A3 sucks because it has no Rolls, Dashes, etc. That’s like saying you don’t like western movies because they have no spaceship battles in them.
If you want spaceship battles, watch a Sci-Fi movie, not a western. As such, if you want a game with rolls, dashes and the like play an SNK game, CvS2, or a VS game. Don’t hate on a game because it’s play style is different. As stated, A3 plays more like an older SF game, and that is why I personally enjoy it. I don’t prefer games with dashes, rolls, and screen-filling supers, so I don’t really play them. Does that make sense?
Also the same ppl that complain about pressing 2 buttons to throw in A3 aren’t whining about having to do the same in CFJ or 3S.

You prefer A2 over A3, that’s great, but no one on the face of the earth seems to be able to distinguish that disliking something, and something being a poor product are actually 2 different principles. For example; I hate realistic sports games. Does that mean I think all realistic sports games suck? NO.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 is consider one of PSMs favorite top 10 games of all time for the PS1. remember that PSM writers dont take fighting games seriously and for them to consider is better than Tekken 3 on the PS1, that says something alright. most people who bash on SFA3 probably never battle against anybody really good in their area. the more you play Alpha 3, the more you recognize that its actually a good game even though Sakura and Akuma are top tier. so what, i seen Gen, Rose, Rolent, Ryu, Ken, zangeif, Cammy, guy, sodom, and Dan being play too. Every fighting cannot always have dash and roll in their gameplay for crying out loud.
other thing i dont get about Chunlis voice is that Chunli is a chinese woman. so how come her voice is being done by a japanese girl actor?? only one reason, capcom lazy bastard cant afford a chinese actor. its like when did chunli ever learn japanese and not understand chinese langauge at all? i can understand Ryu considering ken knows english when they met each other. chunli is suppose to speak in chinese language, but for some reason, she doesnt know how to speak chinese at all.
