STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3 SUCKS, no dash, no roll, wtf!

For whoever is interested… here are a few plus and minus (imo) about SFA2 and SFA3:

SF Alpha 2 plus:
1- Most super levels are STRONG (thats the way it should be because its a SUPER move)
2- Classic SF trow (just push front or back with KP/HP/MK/MH)
3- Both costum combos and super moves are available for all characters
4- costum combos are stronger (better range) and easyer to use for every single character
5- all the moves can be connect like on old school (example: you can connect with Ken c.HK with qcf+P)
6- Alpha counters are really good in this game (usefull for most characters with good damage)

SF Alpha 2 minus:
1- Small number of characters to select (18)
2- In order to make supers of level 2 and 3 players need to press 2 buttons at the same time or 3 buttons for each level (3K/3P for console system)

SF Alpha 3 plus:
1- Bigger number of characters
2- Super moves level can be selected by each button lk/lp mk/mp hk/hp

SF Alpha 3 minus:
1- Most level 1 super moves are way weaker than the Alpha 2 versions (less priority)
2- Introduction to the GAYYY grab (2 buttons needed fopr the regular trow)
3- C.HK into qcf+P doesnt connet anymore (WTFpcom was thinking??)
4- Alpha counters are a waste of super bar (less damage than Alpha 2 system)

Theres more… so whoever want to add more + or - about each version then go for it.

Alpha 2 --> :tup:

I hate to break it to you, but aside from a few minor cases (Ryu and Rose are the only ones that come to mind) A2 and A3 use the same voice actors…

EDIT: Not implying I’m a better anything.

Let me help you out then, Arturo.

There’s a reason I don’t talk about, care about, or generally play A3 (barring the fact I can only play #R according to “some people” ). There’s actually two.

  1. No comp for it when it was released here, this is a city built on XSF and Tekken 3. Everyone who played capcom came in later or didn’t meet each other until later. Irrelevant.

  2. Move properties and priorities seem to be completey random at times. I remember there was a thread about this once, but even when I did play A3 for a bit, move properties were very inonsistant. I do remember that SRK’s were unchallengable, but that’s about the only thing I remember in terms of consistancy. It wasn’t about V-ism, it wasn’t about early X-ism hearsay, it was just that I would like a truly set-in-stone poke. Moves that would sometimes get beaten and sometmies wouldn’t, and in the exact same situation was pretty bullshit to me, but at least that’s how I remember it.

However, I invite someone to further explain this or just let the thread die, I’m not claiming to be constructive.

Some are the same yes, but voices like Ken, Rose, Ryu, Chun Li and Sakura are completly different.

wow this place is becoming overun by gamefaqs homos…

As much as the problem is people who don’t know how to pla A3 dissing it, the problem is also people who don’t really know anything about A2 praising it.

I don’t think 75% of the people who say they like A2 better know the things that are wrong with the game, or why there should be an A2 invitational where the only players invited are Choi and Valle, since they make the game look much more fun than it actually is.

A3 priority is not random.

I gave up on FGD (just bored today) cause it depresses me. There’s no pleasing anyone anymore. Game X sucks because of the broken shit. But then Game Y sucks because there isn’t enough broken shit. People complain when Capcom changes things, and then they complain when things aren’t changed. Whatever.

MA: I’m not going into detail against your whole A2 campaign, but I just wanna say this. AC’s were dumb in A2. They were a little too good - just sit back and wait to block something so you could AC it. Ken had stupid range with his, you couldn’t even fireball him without risk of getting AC’ed.

In A3 yes AC’s were nerfed, but that put them about where they should be - an escape should you have no other options. It didn’t do much damage, and took away from your guard meter, so it was a last resort kind of thing. Useless? Absolutely not. You haven’t played against a whole lot of V-Akuma’s have you?

Depends on the strength. you can be swept out of jab srk’s

A bit off topic, but to the dude who says that there is no button bashing in Virtua Fighter 4 Evo, is wrong.
In the first half of quest mode i was able to easily beat the CPU by just doing Tripple Punch Crecent/sweep with Lau, or even better doing “Downknife Sweep kick”, would always fool the CPU.
The moves i mentioned above are easy for a noob to perform eg smashing the punch buttons and pressing kick.
Another example is Lei Fei, he kills the CPU easily by either doing the same patern or even button bashing.

Pai can also be rather difficult to fight with a noob controlling her.

In real life, a button bashing noob would most probably be easily beaten, but they would still cause some head aches and perfrom moves and combos easily by button bashing.

I have alot of respect for Virtua Fighter 4 Evo, i rate it as the best 3d fighting game (for now), but i dont like it how VF fanboys say that there is no form of button bashing in the game.

Hi, I’m some random scrub…

And I would like to say a game rules when I know nothing about it, and say that whatever game I’m not good at or don’t like is a button masher, because, well, I am an idiot, and of course, a scrub.

= 95% of people that posted here. It’s like SRK has become some sort of sick joke.

There are no “button masher” fighters, and it’s becoming one of the lamest insults, and really overused by you scrubs.

I hate to sound like an old-ass here. But you guys need to grow up before you post here.

Or at least play fighting games.

EDIT: I won’t respond to “comebacks” to this post. This thread is full of scrubs, and anything I have to say to your “comebacks” will do no good, because the same thing that said “post your awesome views here! they are right! and you know it!” is the same thing that makes you hard headed, and unwilling to learn anything.

I’m more of a MvC2, CvS2, and SFIII:3rd Strike player. I did try out Alpha 3, I gotta say that it sucked. I don’t see really good players playing that from the arcades that I’m from.

A3 didn’t have scenes everywhere, it only had scenes in NYC, cali, tx, and random hotspots like vegas, and a few other places really. But, during the peak of it’s game it was really hot (like, 128 man tourneys @ ECC4 pre-srk, so the game was definetely hot at some point.)

a3 normals arent random, they’re really strange though. like shit doesn’t seem to work consistently first, especially at a mid-level, and thats when ppl quit. when you play the game more though you get to understand the properties of the game and you wont get seemingly randomed out as much. that’s true in every game, no? i barely see random shit happen in a3 matches now, that’s not to say it doesn’t happen though. a3 is a glitchy game no doubt and i’ve had some strange shit happen to me in gameplay, but it’s like one in a million times, thankfully not during a tourney match :stuck_out_tongue:

No problem if you don’t like A2, the game isnt for everyone. The properties are definetely different from normal sf and things don’t always seem to work like they should, especially if you dont understand like how the deep crossups, major counters and how to escape and exploit these tactics to the fullest. they work very differently from the other sf games. or crouch cancels, those are broken.

Everyone is a sheep and a hypocrite on srk these days, its mad sad bro. anyway, a3 alpha counters are great, i agree. much more balanced than a2’s, with some kind of risk for using it other than super. however some characters definetely have to integrate it into their game (sim, rog, few others) to be played effectively in certain situations. as you’ve seen firsthand at acho, that’s definetely the tip of the iceberg.

A3 is dumb now though. At the highest levels it turned into a crouch cancel and VC fest, however, the tradeoff to that is much more characters got play (even if they were in V.) mad midtier characters have cc infs or reps which give them vc bar back, or end up doing mad damage. in fact, sagat moved to near top because of it…but he’s a extreme example of a midtier character moving to top because of a glitch. I’ll explain more later.

Everyone is sheep but you?

I thought people grew out of that angst superiority shit after highschool.

The only thing I dont understand is this stigma surrounding A3 that you have to use CC’s to win. I used to believe this to then I watched Apoc beast with Rog of all people (who isnt that good in A3). Im thinking surely if he can do it other people can, they just need to apply themselves more. Although I suck at A3 admittedly, he showed me quite a few things about the game that really showed there was more to it then I originally thought.

Airthrow: What I think he is refering to and he will correct me if im wrong, people on srk now like or dislike a game for basically no reason and dont even bother to explain or know how to explain why. They just go X game sucks balls or random shit like that. Thats why I have that quote I do in my sig, it sums up alot of people these days.

Thanks a lot for the clarification, as I knew there would be some. In fact, if the scene were still going, I might have felt inclined to get one going here. Sadly, that boat seems to have sailed. Thanks for the input.

This thread should probably be closed now.

wait! ur saying ppl in STL still play this wonderful game?
where do they play at! :karate:
here i was thinking i was the only guy who played this in the whole state of MO!

Sabin makes a habit of coming on SRK sporadically to talk about how gay it is and everyone here sucks, blah. It is frustrating to read because it’s not like he’s Apoc who comes here and drops some knowlege, he just comes and talks shit about us and it’s quite gay…but since he’s a well known player no one says anything.

Like…whenever I see Sabin post on SRK, it’s always with these overtones of him being better than other people, and sometimes he explicitly calls people scrubs, and it’s like…it’s a game, you’re not better than everyone at life, STFU. :xeye:

so…because im saying what i think that makes me high and mighty. Sorry if you find me arrogant, but if you are so offended by what i’m saying, then feel free to put me on ignore or whatever.

and yes, srk sucks now because noone wants to talk about gameplay anymore. Most of the players who were actually good at the game(s) stopped posting. Look at the cvs2 forum for example, random flamewars start for no reason there. its silly. It seems like noone cares anymore.

you really sound like you have some agenda against me more than anything, i dont think ive ever talked to you on srk, ever. i haven’t talked to you in like what, 3 years now over icq? like i said, feel free to use the ignore button if youre so irked off by what i say, seriously. I know I’m not better than everyone at life, geez…stop trying to make me out like im on some kind of high horse or something. It’s not like I’m the only person that feels this way about srk and the way the damn scene is heading.

People flame me, just look at the NEC thread, geez…

Jeez, where have you been? That was like in the middle of 2003 everything went to shit. People just post vague strats and stuff nowadays, cause 70% of the posters on here just say how they are some big master of some character, post some crap that is no help whatsoever, and then post something like, “How do you learn how to parry?” Like you gotta sit under a waterfall naked with a Namco stick practicing or something.

I actually go back to google groups to have a look at alt.games.sf2 just because theres some half decent stuff there to read.

Apoc’s about the only one that gets off his ass to make an indepth post anymore.

Yeah, if you want to be a drama queen and call one post I’ve ever made about you an “Agenda”.

You put your two cents about SRK sucking, I put my two cents in about your posts sucking, let’s leave it at that.
