I don’t really like delta red… so I didn’t really appreciate this issue all that much. But the story was intersting.
Can’t wait to see more of the jap fightrs and all…
(i just dislike delta red a little)
1)yes what happened to guile after he ran into his ex wife
2)when do the street fighter three characters come in, its gonna be sick to see that dude with one arm fighting, along with makoto and sean
3)um thats it, hurry up and get to the third strike arc, screw this other stuff
No way, Udon should take their time as they have been lately with getting from the Alpha stage to the SF2 tournament stage and then should have a slow run-through SF2
The SF3 arc should be longer with all the character plots and everything but SF2 still needs some precious time to develop the arc nicely.
i just got this issue today …oryesterday
i saw the cammy clone
looks like cammy+two-face+WOLVERINE and a dash of vega and BAM!!
YOU GUT THE COOLEST CLONE NEXT TO CAMMY AND MEWTWO
ah to see chun-li and cammy fight TOGETHER…
WAS INTERRESTING
I like Delta Red. Ironic, since I don’t like Cammy much. If the story only focused on Cammy while she was in Delta Red and the other members never got a chance to do shit, that would be much worse than letting Lita sneak up on Blanka and bean him like a distracted animal.
As for the rest, nothing to say that hasn’t been said. So many dollies at this point, it’s hard to complain about any absence of backup characters. Of all the dolls, though… isn’t Juli a bit too much in the background? After all she does kind of have a special part in the story, at least according to Alpha 3 Upper.
And I have to give props to the backup story for showing better writing this month. Usually they’re just throwaway stories to showcase the guest artist of the month drawing a fight, but this one actually took an interesting idea and used it to explain Cammy forgetting everything but her physical skills. Plus the casual nature of the art and converstation made the whole thing seem more plausible than it could have been. For me it was by far the most interesting backup yet.
it was good to see some Blanka action, but I was a little sad to learn that Alvin is no long drawing for the SF comic anymore. I really love his art style. The camera angles and scenes, poses. It’s all so beautiful. Although I’m glad that Omar Dogan has kept the same style as Alvin, but i still miss the Alvin art T_T
Will Alvin ever be drawing for the SF comic again (refering to the interor and not just covers).
Not to take anything away from Alvin, but…
It was my understanding that Arnold did a majority of the page layouts. So he would actually be responsible for the poses, camera angles, scenes etc.
Where does it say that Alvin won’t be doing any more Street Fighter?
Actually, Alvin laid out his own pages, and Arnold laid out his own pages too. So props to both of them!
Alvin is now working on Darkstalkers. But don’t hold your breath. He will probably be doing some SF stuff sooner that you think!
Y2Dane: In the SF 12 previews thread.
Oops…that makes more sense…don’t mind me…it’s late…or early…
Why do you say that? Because DS sales aren’t that high?
Cool! Ryu, Ken, Guile, Sakura VS Vega and Balrog!
I wonder why is Guile in the fight?
I guess his wife must be in the wedding and they must be in speaking terms? Or maybe he tracks Shadoloo into the wedding? Or something?
About the Alvin issue, the first time i enjoyed his art in interiors was in Darkstalkers. The “darker” style looks great and seems to fit him better. I like Arnold a lot, so im happy hes the “main man” on SF. I dont like Omar at all, though.
Eliza is the sister of Julia, Guile’s wife. Guile was last seen in issue 7 at a table when Julia arrived. It was assumed he was there to make amends with her, which, with him being at the wedding, he obviously did.
Those are the same reasons I thought this back up was great. The art is excellent as well as it really captures the casualness of the situation.
I like both Arnold and Alvin’s art and I’m glad we’ll see both in the issues to come.
Oooh that makes me quite excited =]. Please keep up the great work, and especially keep up those excellent fight scenes, where they look so close to the game
I didn’t realise that Arnold was doing the main part of comic, and Omar was doing only the end part. I had it mixed up and the other way around in my head =p. Sorry ‘x’
I hope Chun Li makes more appearences in her Cheong Sam outfit. Perhaps in the tournament which is coming up? =p
No, u have it right. Omar did the majority of issue 12, and Arn did those last 2 pages. Then issue 13, it will be 95% Arn, with one Cammy Chun Li page by Omar.
I went back and took to admire the art in issue #12 again, and i really like the way Omar does the eyes of Cammy and Chun Li. He draws the faces quite nicely, and expressions are quite good too. =]
I’d would like to say Omar could improve on his fight scenes and get them to a Alvin’s style, but this is Omar’s style and it is good in it own right
I rather liked the issue. And frankly, I’ve become a big fan of Delta Red since Udon got ahold of them. Capcom ought to give them a game of some kind, sort of like MK Mythologies/Special Forces, except… you know. Good.
The fact that Delta Red has a pseudo-cameo of sorts in Mega Man Zero helps, too.
As for Lita knocking out Blanka, a detail that seems to be missing, if I remember the issue correctly, is that she used the blunt end of a metal-looking weapon to do it.
Frankly, my greatest concern is that it feels like they’re going through stories almost TOO fast. Bear in mind, once Street Fighter 3 Third Strike is completed… well, that’s when there comes a real crossroad, as they’ll have to decide where to go from there.
As it is, it feels like Alpha is sort of being meshed into SF2 to some extent(all the Doll stuff, but with Cammy being with Delta Red; Ken’s wedding, which came post-SF2 as I recall). Alpha could be a nice, long series all on its own, but for all intents and purposes, it sounds like it’s either nearly done with, or being meshed into SF2, which I feel might congest some things.
As far as SF3 characters? I don’t want to see a single one unless it’s as an early-introduction in their earlier years, in a non-major way. When SF3 time comes around, THEN let me see them.
Another detail I liked in this issue, btw, was the distinction between Dolls-- Noembelu was a nice touch, what with the feather and all.
Interesting that Decapre seems to have Vega’s claw-mask thing going on… which might make more sense had they gone with the story from the games where Vega seemed to be in love with her, and took her to Delta Red himself.
Something I hope they keep is Bison having to get a new body for SF2, though. The way things are going,… has he even taken Rose’s body yet? Can’t remember, but I’m thinking not…
Additionally, I get the feeling we might get a battle royal at some point with Cammy and Delta Red Vs. Bison’s Dolls.

Really? which Mega Man Zero Game? More details please.
EDIT: Are you talking about the soldiers wearing red berets?
EDIT #2: Just so you know, Udon didn’t create what the Dolls look like. That’s how they look in their official art. Noembulu even has a feather in Juni and Juli’s intro in SFZ 3.
Though, actually, theirs are turned another way, aren’t they?
Ah, k, I’d heard somewhere that they weren’t really given much distinction in the games… our copy of SFA3 was stolen, if I’m not mistaken, so I haven’t really been able to check.
