I say wait until release where Thor can be broken down before judging how useful the meter charging taunt really is.
They are fast but if cancellable and quick enough(pros will be) can cancel into rushdown stopper. Thinking it into Mighty Spark will be the best cancel, hopefully. But if not, if not. Theory fighting right now. Until people get the game and go to the lab with Thor and check this shit out, we don’t know.
I think the best things about the Asgard Speech are that #1 It forces people to do something and #2 It makes people forget about running away. I really like the thought of having Thor with Phoenix. With Thor’s damage dealing ability and high health combined with the Asgard Speech (which I PRAY is cancellable) he can build battery and stay out long enough to get that Level 5 to Jean or pass it off to her. Mighty Thornado to Phoenix Bird hyper looks to be pretty safe as well.
Just gotta find out what Jean’s assists are. Hopefully one of them is where she sets the bird in the air and then sends it out or the globe that tracks and explodes on contact.

Well sure. All this is theory craft, and it might prove to be absolutely useless. We’re just conjecturing over the latest bit of info for this character.
I’m pretty sure you can’t call assists during it. If you could, it would be a whole different ballgame.
Teleporters get handled with Thornado.
8 way dashers get asisted.
ground dashers get Mighty Struck.

Calling assists DURING the taunt would be awesome, and I hope someone will test it soon, but I don’t expect it. However, calling the right one first and then taunting, then being ready to cancel out of the taunt when necessary, could very easily get you up to the next level of meter at LEAST.
Errr you guys are getting ahead of yourselves with this IMHO. Thor is hardly much better off than Felicia when it comes to defending against rush down. I’d argue that Felicia is actually better because she has that special dash that apparently goes through everything (?).

It’s not his select taunt, it’s :d::d::snkc: , so the theory is you can’t call assists while it’s active.
Aegis or Dark hole (or Rocks or Cold Star) cover you for about enough time to get 1/3-1/2 of a bar at max… and they don’t cover you at all against some characters.
I mean I don’t wanna be down to hard on it, but this happens with like every new thing we find out about

It does, however, raise an interesting question, since if it can be canceled into specials and supers, it should be in a class of moves that you can call assists during. Still, I’m totally not expecting that to be the case.
that and coupled with assists coming out slow in this game means only Trish is viable.
Yeah, call an assist that has a little lag effect after the assist leaves and start taunt. Will allow for a little charge. But on another note, I soooo want that taunt as my text message ringtone.
Looks like killing a character should equal about one bar’s worth of charge time every time. That’s nice.
His command grab has more range and recovers very fast, his grab super has more range, and mighty strike can be launched out of and is safe. Those are real nice buffs! Also his normals have a ton of active frames, some of his normals are really good, and he hits really hard (Keits killed 90% of a character with lv3 xfactor Thor). Seems like a good character to me so far.
Couldn’t have said it better. Totally sums it up. Want to mess with your opponent’s flow? Call out Thor, wait for them to start retreating thanks to Thor’s huge damage potential, then, instead of giving chase, hit a good assist and let rip the taunt. Their brain will have to do a sudden gear reversal to process.
Can you explain this bit? What do you mean “lv3 xfactor”? As far as I know, Thor doesn’t have a L3 hyper, so I assume you mean L3 of X-Factor. If so, what did Keits do that killed the character? And do you remember who it was?
Means Thor was the last character and went x-Factor with him. Turning his uber normals even more uber.
