Yes because it demonstrated the gap in the linguistics of our time and theirs. He doesn’t know what dumbass means so he just doubled down on it.
Yeah…the f bombs made me wince a bit.
I think I liked it better when Stak Trek Characters actually knew about their History.
Because of TV broadcasting Standards you never heard Kirk or Picard curse on the shows.
The Voyage home was Roddenberry overthinking it.
Like Sisco was more aware of the world and language than Kirk was when Sisco went back in time.
Kirk gets “deer in the headlights” syndrome with every time travel adventure.
Of course language change and phases drop out of use as new ones come into place.
But If you want to be realistic, if Trek wanted to sound like 400 years passes by we the audience would not understand them despite the crew still speaking English.
I find it less jarring if they just said FUCK in the first place, their society would still have their swares, it just be delivered in a form that our year 2020 AD minds can comprehend.
I forgot where, but there a scene in one of the movies where Data called someone a Bitch, He also said “OH SHIT” in Generations when the Enterprise D Saucer made a crash landing.
I warned you guys well ahead of time this was gonna be a rated r star trek series.
I would not have it any other way. Fuck this PG “think of the children” bull shit.
No one said anything about thinking of the children you fucking drama queen. I just voiced my opinion, settle down.
I’m still allowed to criticize it.
Lol no one said you aren’t
You are dumb ass, its hyperbole
It’s you insinuating some shit no one said.
Insert jpeg of Kermit sipping some tea
or if you prefer
Insert Baby Yoda who ate Kermit, and now sipping Kermit’s Tea
Why are you reading so far into it? You are making a mountain out of a ant hill.
It was a jab at PG content not the whole overplayed Children thing.
Is it tea, Earl Grey, hot?
You know it
Like in Back to the Future III when Marty said “Hey lighten up jerk”
and the Tannen crew looked puzzled with Mad Dog replying “Mighty strong words runt”.
Last week was the first episode I actually enjoyed, hopefully it picks up from here.
Ep1 review
Ep2&3
I sometimes wonder if those guys like anything.
I think some people on YouTube get famous for shitting on things and continue to do so because its their brand.
I’m cool with valid criticism but complaining about every contrivance just gets tiring.
It’s funny when the complain about people who complain, their Parasite review for example
I think they’re enjoying Picard more than Discovery though, I don’t recall them saying a single good thing about Discovery.
I do find their reasoning why the og Star Trek shows were better written to be valid. Everything in this universe is a vision of a nightmarish future not the utopia we grew up adoring.
I think some.people.have become disconnected from the fact that everything in fiction is a contrivance.
But you know. . . . Plot holes
