We’re on what, the third version? SF2 has like seven (no lie) versions.
i think we will never really know if yun/yang are top. as long as guys like daigo play them, the top level tier aura will never be argued or questioned unless you see them get dropped as mains
I’m not saying Yun and Yang are whatever Tier but after just 3 or 4 hours with the fucking game, for the first time last night I can say this about them…
IMO that’s pretty fuckin’ scary… Welcome to Super Twin Fighter IV.
I don’t think Yang is that good in this game compared to Yun.
I personally think they are damned near even - just different styles.
Honestly I think that’s just the result of people being a bit lazy categorizing matchups in SF4. People called an advantage matchup a 6-4, and a strong advantage a 7-3… I think a lot of "6-4"s were worse than 6-4 under the literal definition of matchup rating (how many games would the character win with the players at equal levels.) For example, the most recent japanese matchup tier list says Cammy’s matchups against Rufus and Blanka are 6-4. I don’t think that Blanka would win 4 out of 10 games against Cammy in the first place, but suggesting that Rufus and Blanka are equally difficult against Cammy is ridiculous… Yet this was pretty common in SF4 and SSF4 to an extent even though the reverse was often true (6-4s being closer to even.)
So now something that seems more balanced than what people understand as a 6-4 matchup is described as a 5.5-4.5… I think that’s why you’re seeing that more often.
Yang and Yun are looking like 3s characters.
wait…
-I remember seeing complaints that the Twins somewhat lacked good AA normals, actually. Particularly Yun seems to be potentially weak to crossups due to the trajectory of his SRK, and no other invincible moves. Yang can EX dash out though.
-Yang’s ground game looks decent, but I haven’t seen any indication that Yun has good pokes. Seems like only f+HP which is equivalent to some characters’ stand fierce.
-The twins don’t have a super jump, so you won’t see normal->ultra outside of the s.MK launcher. But that’s fine for combo purposes anyway.
-I saw complaints that the twins’ dashes were not especially fast. They need to move around in the air more often than most characters.
-I haven’t seen confirmation of the unblockable from another source, but it takes ultra, full super meter, and enough advantage to do super->overhead. Pretty advantageous situation regardless, and surely avoidable by reversal/backdash.
-I think people will stop walking into palm. Kind of like Tanden Engine, dangerous to just throw it out there. You could compare it to a feintable version of that move that pushes away instead of pulling in, or a somewhat beefier Makoto s.MP with 4-5 times the startup.
-Yang’s teleport seems to function similar to Abel’s roll, you can be grabbed out of it. But only the EX version has startup invincibility.
-To add something you didn’t mention, they always had somewhat of a weakness to good air-to-air moves and that seems to have carried over to SSF4AE without parry backup (example, Makoto vs. Yun in one of the first two a-cho videos.)
Wrong on Yun and Cross Ups - His Standing Fierce is a Double Palm Strike in both directions… think Fei or Chun’s Jump Straight Roundhouses but grounded and it has mad priority - Every time I saw someone go for the cross up, all Yun needed was FP and he beat it out.
Also I should put a disclaimer on the list, I’m a Yang player - not Yun so I’m sure I could be wrong on Yun stuff, Hell I could also be missing stuff on Yun but I had it hands on last night and I’m going off of what I saw.
I coulda swore they had a Super Jump in AE
I have to disagree with 3 bars Sakura deals the most damage out of the whole cast. If it isn’t 3 bars than Cody wins. Try this sakura combo jump in up, standing fierce, cancel into ex dp, fadc on the 5th hit, standing mk, cancel into lt tatsu, standing feirce, cancel into lt tatsu, crouch feirce, cancel into heavy dp= 550 damage not sure if Cody can do that much
I hopped into training mode as I was making my statement and realised Sakura does spastically good damage, even without meter. I believe it’s Cody’s normals on their own plus how devastating they sound that made me think he did more damage. If we’re talking about Stun then Cody wins but damage no.
It’s all cleared, I’m sure Sakura IS one of the best damage dealers in the game as Skatan said, probably her and C.viper too.
My friend uses Cody and he kicks my ass when he is in but if I keep him out I win most of the time. Cody is really scary when he gets in. And his zonk knuckle doesn’t beat Sakura’s lt tatsu they both atually miss, but Sakura recovers in time to throw him
She actually gets a full combo on him afterwards, she can do this against several other characters on wakeup as well.
did anyone talk abotu the fact that fei’s low strong is like, as fast as a jab now? wasn’t that shit already crazy priority? i predict anyone who doesn’t have a good way to deal with that is going to lose to him at least 6-4.
always been a 4 frame normal. like since console vanilla
I never said Zonk beats LK Tatsu, I said that’s what Sakura has over Cody on wakeup. All option selects get beaten by reversal EX Criminal Upper. That’s not the best wakeup option but it prevents Sakura from pressuring you on wakeup, unless of course it gets baited.
Cody feels pretty much the same from what I experienced while playing AE. The crouching Lk is noticeable but I didn’t get to test the crack kick like I wanted to. EX Zonk doesn’t travel as far.
option select ex sho wins against everything he can do on wakeup.
Yang being able to combo ultra 1 from close mk anywhere in screen is just waay too good.
I dont think thats a big deal, he will probably need to be in your face to do it. Does the command grab scale the ultra damage?
