It’s interesting to hear the twins specifically getting hate. I would think you would hear some things about Fei Long in addition to those guys.
The twins are nearly autopilot. Fei Long doesn’t have brainless divekicks options. Playing Fei Long involves good footsies and reactions.
Again just watch japanese tourneys, guys.
Successful Feis are scarce compared to Yun and they are mostly strong and well-known players. With Yun, you see completely random guys destroy players like Amiyu, Cantona etc
I just hate it when people make general statements without links, that’s all. If he had posted that link earlier I’d be a lot less annoyed.
And I can see why the JP players don’t like Yun. EX Lunge is the most DERP special I have ever seen in SSF4.
Blaming a single special move sounds like an easy scapegoat.
Can someone with a lot of experience with AE(arturo?) tell me why yun is so intolerable?
So wait, EX lunge can’t be beat out with like jabs and whatnot?
Relative ease to use, high damage/stun output, safe specials that combo into Ultra, command grabs, divekicks, dragon punch, arguably the best super in the game, incredible meter-building, the power to nullify fireballs with his palms, and two useful Ultras isn’t enough?
You can use almost all of this to describe Yang as well. A barebones feature list doesn’t tell me anything.
Well that’s as good as you’re gonna get. You obviously can’t play the game, and for some reason you refuse to watch videos of him, so now you’re just have to go off personal impressions(which, like it or not, boils down to what the character can do).
So it looks like we’re gonna get another rebalance for console DLC then? It would make sense for Capcom to take player feedback now and balance it for console. It’s funny that they’re basically using AE as a beta test.
Matchup experience?
Yun’s combos generally do more damage, and unlike rekkas ending in dragon kicks positions you for a post knockdown mixup. Dragon kick is a more reliable reversal than yang’s dp, which whiffs against crouching normals. His divekick is faster and has better angles, making it harder to anti air. That, combined with max range lunges and ex lunges makes it much easier for yun to get in, while yang has to rely on more of a patient footsie game. Finally, genei jin is more useful mid screen than seiei enbu, which you really don’t get the full benefit of unless you’re near a corner.
Yun’s lunge punch is safe on block. Meaning he can directly go into normals after and you can’t do anything to punish. Now only a few characters have safe on block specials (Bison’s scissor kick, Rose’s Soul Spiral and Honda’s headbutt for example). Then you got his annoying / ambiguous dive kick pressure. But unlike Rufus, Yun actually has good speed and frame traps. And so his walk speed and fast jabs/shorts allow for very dangerous throw mix ups. On top of that he got a command grab that can lead into devastating combos.
But that’s not all. Thing is you can’t really zone against Yun. Not only does he have the power to nullify projectiles, he actually has a special move with projectile invincibility that travels full screen distance and that can lead into super or ultra. You also can’t play keep away vs Yun because he can close distance in a mili second and get you cornered. And he’ll just build meter anyway if you stay far.
Seriously, the only bad thing about the twins are their wake up options. Their dragon kick/punch reversal is a joke imo. But then again good players don’t rely on smashing reversals on wake up do they.
From my brief experience playing Yun, I think his lunge punch shouldn’t break armour.Either that or make it unsafe on block no matter where its spaced.
you know its one thing to watch a video, and a person tell you exactly why shit runs like that. You can only get so much out of a video.
I think people just don’t like the dive kick goodness from the Twins.
This isn’t Vanilla Sagat broke, this is just annoyance IMO.
Can’t wait until NYC gets back some semblance of arcades. Got my new SSF4AE mook, going to hit up the expensive lab.
We’re going to have to get some serious lab time with the new characters before we can start declaring anything “broken”, however I will say that the twins look MAD GOOD at the moment. Who knows though, Sentinel looked MAD BROKEN in MvC3 when it first dropped but now he isn’t the doomsday death sentence he was right after launch. Point being, we’ll get a lot more solid data once these guys inevitably find their way onto consoles.
The top tier character who’s more mix-up oriented gets more complaints than the one based off spacing and footsies. Matches the tag for this thread.
It wouldn’t surprised me if Yun turns out to be stronger than Vanilla Sagat.
Yun is similar to sagat in that he shits all over everyone except 2 or 3 characters, as far as I can tell his only bad matchup right now is gief.
also its good to see that a lot of the Vanilla Gmasters players all play either Yun, Yang or Fei Long, good shit japan
top 5 is probably Yun/Yang/Fei Long/Ken/Sagat or Makoto RIP charge characters, hello command grabs!
