SSF4 Tier List Thread REBOOT Super + AE (Updated: 02-01-09)

Blanka doesn’t bother me that much. I don’t like playing Fuerte because he basically throws out footsies and zoning. I mean, I’m sure there is some crude form of footsies with Fuerte, but it doesn’t feel like I’m really playing footsies or zoning at all, I’m just sitting back trying to keep Fuerte from starting his ridiculous wake up rock, paper, scissors while trying not to be predictable. Sure, whatever, learn the matchup and it’s all the same. Basically what it comes down to is that it doesn’t feel fun playing Fuerte, it’s subjective.

Honestly 3f v 4f… ehh. When you need a very specific setup and a very character dependent method to safe jump said character, its still a shitty situation given the toolset yun was given. I know based on landing frames what’s possible but may not be exactly practical. Yun is always on the move so unless your getting UKD’s on him, i cant see safe jumping his DP outside the lab a major weapon in a match vs him. Baiting it is another story.

Depends on the character, a lot of safejump setups are completely braindead even off of techable knockdowns. Not to mention characters like ryu who can easily combo into sweep and just hold uf.

No, Seth looks buffed because of the numerous…buffs that he received. He’s been buffed alot, the problem that alot of players have is that his buffs are really only buffs if you play a rushdown Seth. If you used Seth as a zoning character, you’re fucked in AE.

IMO, cr.MP is fine as it is. Works great as a divekick counter. I think the ultimate purpose of QBomb was to counter jumpaways. The hitbox for that attack covers at least the chest and above. I’m still baffled behind the Guac trade, but putting some damage on the clutch for Guac would be ok. A good number of your suggestions I agree with, but some I feel unnecessary.

I think you and I have different outlooks on playing Fuerte effectively. Since I’m “that guy that runs a lot”, my style is about running, baiting with specials, spacing with slides, and delivering luck like a casino from hell. You’re more of a defensive Fuerte. I’m not saying your way of thinking is wrong, but our ideas evolve into different concepts for the character.

psuedo-Zone, turtle, shenanigans, and bait. That’s what I prefer to do. Wake up games ain’t worth it.

I think Q-bomb might be slightly more effective in AE as an anti air. But that might have to wait till DLC to really be sure.

You’ll forgive me Chucky, but I’ve had countless issues with crHP as opposed to several other anti airs. I’m not feeling crHP. Just my opinion on that one.

honda nerfs are fuckin stupid. lets remove his jab headbutt so he can get raped by all he rushdown characters. you might as well ignore that move, cuz its pretty ass in ssf4 ae.

and rose nerfs are equally as retarded, if not, worse than honda. take away her only good reversal so she can remain free against rushdown characters and nerf her c.mp and standing mk because obviously, shes too broken in ssf4 console. :lame:

SSF4 Community Tierlist - Results

Thanks to the input of the SRK community we have been able to create a **community-generated tier listing for SSF4**. The approach was to get every character board to vote on their characters match-ups, so that every character gets ranked by it’s own players. This creates the ‘characters view’ on the list. Since all other boards also have a say on your character in their respective match-up list, you also get the ‘opponents view’.
These two combined then create a pretty neat ‘averaged view’ where both character perspectives on the match-ups are accounted for.

To get valid votes I made sure that only people could vote in a character if they had the character password, which was given on the character forum. On top of that, also the extreme low and extreme high votes for each match-up are statistically removed. This avoids ‘bad votes’ (either on purpose or by accident) to skew the average.

Currently over 400+ people have voted, casting 13500+ votes on match-ups. Yielding some interesting results:

Remind me, what are Seth’s buffs?

50 more health, 150 more stun and apparently better hitboxes on some normals (better ground game).

He’s much harder to random out now, mostly because of the huge stun increase.

Fuck Rose. Fucking boring ass stale ass bullshit play-style character.

s.mk made a decent poke, faster teleport, better sonic boom recovery, increased legs and ultra 1 damage, 50 hp and stun (might be more stun…not sure).

Recent high level Seth players like onlinetony also think he is buffed after playing ae some more. The main things they mentioned as really positive points is:

  • that the removal of j.hp is actually a blessing in disquise. Because it traded a lot and some players relied too much on it, it isn’t that big a deal and Seth is more fun offensively anyway.
  • s.mk is actually a real good poke now.
  • The forward teleport is now as fast as it was in vanilla (or like it) meaning you can get 50/50 teleport mix-ups on your opponents wake-up by doing sonic boom>teleport after a knockdown or U1.
  • The damage increase on U1 and legs are very noticable.
  • Quite a bit more stun (not sure of the exact number, check seth section). This means that he can be a little bit more aggressive and doesn’t get stunned in 1/2 combos which would normally lead to more damage causing Seth to lose 2/3 of his life total. Ofcourse the 50 hp more health helps too.
  • Divekick is now wickedly fast. It was thought to be a nerf but it actually turns out to be beneficial to Seth after more playtesting/playing.

The biggest negative is obviously the headstomps nerf, which was imo totally unwarranted and makes it really hard to do srk fadc riverdance and in some cases almost impossible.

Never seen that response to character hate before. Yeah, of course a character can’t possibly be boring to fight.

Have to option select that ridiculous backdash all the fucking time. HAVE to stop pressuring her when she reaches half health which means you can never stun her. Slide is safe + preposterous throw range + walk and dash speed combination means constantly having to watch for throws.

Boring. Just completely boring.

So having to constantly think while playing a match is boring?The only think annoying about rose was how U2 stopped all momentum.

Fixed Guile and Dan for ya

Against Rose with U2 I always just safejump her then block the orbs and then she doesn’t have meter anymore. Never quite understood what the big issue was. If she random activates I try to get some space, and if she rushes in too quickly I knock her out of it. Yeah it sucks your offensive momentum is thrown off a bit if she random activates, but a lot of get off me moves are like that.

OSing the backdash is hitting one more button. OS against her backdash is great because of how bad the invincibility of ex spiral is because you’ll hit her out of that too.

Vs slide you have to know what the spacing is. Generally just backdash if you know the spacing is safe, and you’re good to go. You can also hit buttons that beat her slide in that range.

“I don’t like fighting this character” isn’t really a valid reason to justify them getting nerfed, especially when they aren’t overpowered.
