SSF4 Tier List Thread REBOOT Super + AE (Updated: 02-01-09)

You keep saying you’re gonna be gone, but you keep coming back ranting like an idiot.

What the fuck do you want?

Abel got more hittable frames at the end of his roll, reduced damage on tornado throw, reduced damage on both ultras, Breathless lost armour except when holding/charging the move (i.e. no armour during the dash) and cr.FP made a little worse for anti-air. Or so I hear.

The only change here that I already know I like is the reduced damage on Tornado Throw. It was kind of bullshit that Abel could do Zangief damage with his throws whilst having pretty much none of the problems his Russian counterpart had in terms of getting close enough to use them.

your sisters ass

Trust me pal, no you do not.

What a wonderful topic.

Pics, I’ll make up my own mind.

mistake

from what I hear the TT damage reduction was small… really small. nobody has even noticed a big enough difference to guess how much they reduced it yet… could have only been 5 or 10 damage.

lol wat the fuck
that’s not my tier list, that’s Natty’s. and it isn’t for AE… its for super.
when I asked you what was wrong with you, that was a serious question

Wow…all this arguing is pointless. Clearly no one is hearing what the other person has to say and isn’t trying to. So can we please just move on and bring some civility back to this thread. I really enjoy reading peoples’ thoughts on the tier placements of characters and why they are placed there. I learn so much from this forum and really enlightens me to some things about the game. SSF4 was my 1st fighting game I ever got serious about. I’m really trying to get good enough to play at a high level. I’m pretty sad that I missed out on so much over the years and am just now trying to get into the fighting game scene. But I love it. But I also can’t stand to see the division in what is the greatest genre ever. We are all fighting gamers guys. So instead of bashing one another over what appears to be opinions with a minor amount of fact, how about we agree to disagree on whatever we don’t see eye to eye on and move on?

oh right i copied it from the abel forums and he had saikedos list at the top written on it ?! and anyway its not even a bad list i was posting it here for reference
edit re checked it and yeah its indeed nattys version but i think only thing he changed was zangief match up , my bad.

been a long day…

what the fuck is happening to this thread.

I’ve never claimed to be a good Hakan player, I’ve actually always said that I suck with him. Some of the people I play with have built me up, but… I still think they’re wrong, heh. That said, I do think that people who say Hakan is bad in AE are totally wrong. Unfortunately my finger control has gone downhill too much for the very complex execution good Hakan play requires, so I’ve given up playing him. I’d love to be the guy who shows everyone that Hakan is good, but… I can’t. I hope someone with better execution comes along and does it instead.

I have to say the last few pages of reading have been entertaining.

It’s really funny because you guys are arguing whether or not Sagat is overpowered and you have yet to establish an objective definition of the word. So basically nothing, and I mean abso-fucking-lutely NOTHING was acheived here. No one won the argument, nor does it even matter whether or not Sagat was overpowered or not. But please continue, I’ll go grab the popcorn.

Your hakan was good man! did that amazing hakan on ssf4 who beat daigo transfer well to AE? i havetn checked if hese in the rankings and iv forgotten his name…

Would you consider him low mid tier?

…obligatory post where I ask you to stop derailing the gawd damn thread.

There was supposed to be a comma in between

Ultra David … , and the best

making to independent phrases. My bad.

Dude it’s so hard to know so early in the game, especially in a game that seems so well balanced. But I think he has a lot of potential, a really high ceiling, and a lot of changes that addressed almost all of his needs. Like Pedoviejo pointed out, it seems totally possible to me that he might end up being the best pure grappler, better than both Zangief and Hawk. That is, if anyone is willing to spend the time to make him work.

well just maybe you shouldnt dismiss everyone elses opinions if you are equally unknown.

try putting up some facts quotes or numbers. those go over much better than the method youve been using

with hakan being such a quirky character, the chances are pretty slim. its like we all want capcom to make unique characters, but then they do it, and no one plays them. ie, gen, hakan.

most well established players want something simple yet effective. if they do pick up the quirky ones, then it already needs to be well established that all the hard work will pay off into something good

so, more shotos it is then. all we can do is hope that the charcter specialists out there develop into really good players

Hakan was given loads of useful tools. Here in AZ there was a player who landed his new BnB consistently; every hit turned into slide + oil or slide > pound > safe jump HK. This is a meterless combo and setup, by the way.

I definitely think Hakan is much more competitive now than he was in SSF4 (Are we calling it Chocolate now?). He’ll still have an uphill battle as far as footsies are concerned though, so I think he’ll remain low tier in the end. Remember that doesn’t mean HE SUCKS it means he’s relatively less effective than other characters.

anyhow…I’d like to say I personally think Vega(Claw) is really underrated - I don’t think he’s top 3, top 5, or even top 10 but he’s got a lot of goofy tricks and really great damage/normals despite having no real reversals and a horrible time dealing with pressure.

the previous-iteration’s mid-tier is always something we need to keep an eye on - and I think characters like Ken, Vega, Dhalsim who were once considered not-so-good have been slowly creeping up the tier list
