Focus won’t stop his Rekkas; he can still bulldog you with two and that’s somewhat difficult to catch. If Fei just sits there and waits for you to dash out, he can follow up with HP Rekkas while you recover from backdash or forward dash. If you Focus out of range, you’re taking a guess that can fuck you over.
Because all the recent majors were littered with charge characters who ran through brackets by turtling.
sure.
Yun seems retarded in this game. Can safely get in from across the screen with lunge punge (which can lead to ultra combo) since it seems to safe on block oh and it breaks armor. Once the Yun player does that randomly you get to guess dive kick, random dragon kick, command grab, or maybe even another safe armor breaking lunge punch in case you back dash.
I can’t believe capcom thought giving a character a command grab, dp, dive kick, and 100% safe full screen pressure special that leads into an ultra was a good idea.
I havent played but nearly every video I’ve seen of Yun is just Yun doing random shit and flying across the screen with lunge punch whenever he wants and beating other top players using other characters.
can yun be hit out of EX lunge? I haven’t done a whole lot of testing since AE is like 40 miles away from where I live but, I do know it’s atleast +1 or +2 on block, very annoying move.
I don’t think it’s super easy to react to ex-lunge, but I’m pretty sure I’ve accidentally stuffed it a few times.
So basically Yun is just a much much cooler buffed version of doofus, minus the command grab.
Rufus is relatively easy to zone out- or at least the Rufus player has to play smart enough to get around your zoning. Yun? Ex-lunge all day.
Also a command grab is no small deal and Rufus does not have a good reversal without ex.
Reposting from the Fei forum:
Yun’s EX lunge seems pretty dumb; it goes full screen, leads to combos if it hits, and if it’s blocked, as far as I can tell, he actually has the advantage. He can do low short/command throw mixups or whatever else. I guess this might depend on range, but anyway… he was beating my mashed throws with low short.
To get around this, when I was in the range where I was scared of random EX lunges, I started to mash standing jab. It seemed to trade every time with the EX lunge. The first hit of the lunge doesn’t do so much damage, so I guess he only comes out slightly ahead on this trade, while wasting an EX stock. It seemed worth it to me.
Presumably other characters can do this too? Mash jab to trade with EX lunge and make Yun just waste his meter.
ssf4 console >> ssf4 ae in terms of balance.
But AE is more fun than console. In the grand scheme of things, would the vast majority of players rather fight someone who’s rushing them down and leaving them open to counteracts or a turtling Honda/Guile? Probably about 90% would rather play against low health Yun/Yang.
Not really.
I second that. I also agree with your previous post replying the “zonning is free” dude. You saved me a lot of time today, Id spend a few minutes writing all that shit, and it wouldnt sound as good.
Yun and Yang do have all the tools, and it’s kind of disheartening, but they are also very low in stamina, so it’s kind of like the Akuma complex. HOWEVER, i’m pretty sure they build meter from just walking around the screen, that’s pretty fucked up. For having such a strong super, why the hell would they make them build meter SO fast. The palm meter building when you absorb a fireball is ridiculous, which is the same shit they nerfed on Rose in AE, why the hell would they give it to two characters who already have ALL the tools.
From my little bit of AE exposure
Yun has the bs safe lunge
Yang has safe rekkas
They both got amazing DPs (which are not at all akin to the rest of the 3S cast who need EX to have good dps, which doesnt make sense to me)
Command throws?!
The list goes on. They are strong. Not broken, but imo their meter build most definitely is.
I am probably in the minority. Nothing I hate more than a rushdown character who can almost rush you for free. That said, I’d rather deal with vanilla Sagat/Ryu/Akuma than any of those choices.
^ Cosigned.
The irony…
I guess that’s your opinion. Honestly I’m one of the lamest, turtley players in my state and even I hate fighting Honda or Guile just because it becomes a boring turtle fest. Honestly, I’ve played a ton of matches where at most only like 5-10% of a character’s health was gone in the first 90 seconds. Although it’s nice to get these wins occasionally, honestly I feel like I’m wasting my time playing like that.
Also, I don’t know if you’ve played in Japanese arcades but vanilla Sagat is some BS. Not unbeatable, but you can own him for an entire round and work on trying to zone him and bam! Karauppercut, fadc, f + RH, Ultra. At least with turtles, you earn your victory against them. At least with rushdown characters they give you many chances to tag/counter their rushdown. Vanilla Sagat doesn’t really care what you do since he has more health than you and he deals more damage than you. If he doesn’t, your name is Vanilla Zangief and you’re screwed anyway.
It is in Capcom’s best interest to make DLC characters top tier and easy mode.
An optional character requires some incentive for purchasing. There is no better incentive for this player base than top tier and easy mode.
ssf4 console has a good mix of offensive and defensive characters: when you have cammy, rufus and abel at the top fucking everyone up (who are pure rushdown characters btw) along with your solid defensive characters like guile and chun also fucking everyone up, i don’t see how ssf4 console is a defensive game. there was nothing turtle-ish about the wcw3 grand finals.
now look at the tier list in ssf4ae. all the top characters are offensive based and theres not even one single defensive based character cracking top 10.
guile gets rushed down like no other
