One of the top ranking Yuns in Japan right now, Kazunoko, is using the character because of Daigo.
lmao
Great, now I can’t stop listening to that Daigo song. And I’d put “sung” in quotes. Anyway, apparently it goes to the tune of the Can’t beat Airman song.
The second song link is dead.
Where’s the play button on the upper link? I want to hear hayao sing but can’t read japanese signs…
google nico redirector. copy paste the url from the first vid
This made me laugh.
very much agreed with the whole post though.
Can someone upload “Daigo Ga Taosenai” onto Youtube?
And how many times has Kumiyoku Nico Nico Douga been redone? I’ve lost count?
And why am I using gratuitous Japanese when I don’t speak it?
Dictator’s high placement on the BP rankings is a little misleading. There is only one Dictator in the top 20 BP currently, and there has never been more than 1 since AE came out (referencing baba’s list).
While it seems like there are a good number of above average Dictator players, the lack of truly dominant Dictator players suggests that the number 2 ranking may be misleading (I acknowledge that it’s not meant to be a tier list, but just thought I’d point that out).

my prefered daigo song.
Popipo vegetable juice stocks just rose tenfold.
What’s everyones opinion on Sakura’s tier placement & Bison’s wakeup options? Also, are Akuma’s vortex options high risk/high reward and if so, what matchups stand out as even.
inb4 sakura sucks post followed by obligatory sakura is good post. niether post containing matchup info
Akuma’s vortex is low risk/high reward on most characters. He can OS to punish backdashes and some escape options, if you block correctly, he gets a block string. If it hits, you’re knockdown again.
there are really no low risk option when basically everything but df palm can make you eat a random ultra for 60%+ of your stamina. Obviously you have to be smart and akuma has loads of options, that’s why he’s top tier anyways. But calling it low risk would be pushing it.
In vanilla it was high risk/very high reward, since akuma could basically stun everyone with 2 right guesses. Now akuma’s stun output is so low it’s not even funny. The positive thing is that other characters mostly also do less damage so his crappy health isn’t as much of an issue any more. I’d say that in SSF4 akuma is medium risk/medium reward, lol. Of course there are characters that can’t do shit about his vortex, but it’s only a minority of the cast. Most of them have good wake up options that can put fear in the akuma player.
I think that with the other characters getting nerfed in AE akuma will probably be top 5 or even top 3 again. In super he definitely isn’t top 5. by far.
Agreed. He’s low risk high reward. I mean, if Akuma gets hit, he eats a lot of damage, but considering he has like 6 different options, you have a 5/6 (83%) of not getting hit. Which is the “low risk.”
Bison’s wakeup options are… hit or miss. If you don’t know how to beat them, he will get away pretty much every single time. If you do? Then he gets raped for free. He has the advantage of having so many options (Ex-Devil’s Reverse and Ex-Psycho Crusher being the best reversals, followed by Teleport, Ex-Scissor Kick and Ex-Headstomp). Of course he can also just block and back dash. The problem is that his fastest reversal is ~12 frames or so (easy to safe jump) and half of his options are extremely unsafe (Ex-SK and Ex-HS). The other half (Ex-DR, Ex-PC, and TP) are relatively unsafe. That is, they’re usually safe, but many characters can ultra punish it, OS it, or take a step back and sweep it. The worst thing about Bison is his moves lack utility. For example, if you do Ryu safe jump OS dragon punch, you will flat out beat a vast majority of Bison’s options (Ex-PC, Ex-DR, Ex-HS, Backdash). Ex-SK either gets beat or whiffs through the DP. If you teleport backwards, you can get OS Tatsu’d, but even if you don’t, you can’t punish the Ryu OS. If you TP forwards, you have like a couple of frames to punish Ryu (I think he has like 6-7 frames of recovery after you account for the TP).
Akuma vortex is low risk/high reward, yeah lets pretend it isnt because people can wakeup ultra lol (and most wont work either). The only “risk” option could be df throw but it turns to be FREE damage for akuma since nobody with half a brain will backdash or jump in akuma vortex.
Most of the cast cannot do anything that doesnt favor akuma in risk/reward when they are knocked down. What are those wakeup options akuma has so much fear of?
sorry, but im not seeing akumas high risk on his vortex options either. sure he CAN be hit out of his options… but fat chance that happens much for any amount of damage that would be considered BIG damage (300+) imho calling akumas wakeup game high risk/low reward is like calling crouching jabs high risk low reward… sure they can be hit by ultras and reversals… but the vast majority of them just get blocked or wiff with no repercussion.

Hello to everyone, mi main character is akuma. Honestly I think akuma is the second or third best character in SSFIV (cammy is #1) in AE until we see what yun and yang can do he will be the strongest one tied with feilong. In SSFIV akuma only has 2 truly bad matchups (cammy and maybe ryu) the rest are all pretty doable.
akuma is top tier for various reasons:
-excelent mixups
-excelent zoning
-teleport
-Normals can be canceled into ultra
-Automatic footsies
-Best sweep in the game
-Best walkspeed
*His cons are:
-Low stamina and stun, thats all about it.
-You need plenty of time to get good with him
When i talk about automatic footsies its because a lot of time akuma players dont think when they are attacking, all his footsies are automatic. You will never learn footsies with akuma, if you are a new player getting into fighting games(It’s my case, SF IV is my first experience) mi advice is dont start with akuma because you will not improve this aspect of your game. All his normals are too good and pretty much safe on block.
that´s the reason why a lot of people have trouble with ryu and feilong matchups because those characters actually requiere you to think and play footsies, autopilot doesnt work.
Ryan Hart won me at the dreamhack finals because i was used to play autopilot and didnt work out, he forced me to play foosies and mine arent as good as him, so I lost.
I played ryu back in vanilla and i think if i didnt play him back then my akuma will be now much worse.
Superlolo, I used to think akuma wasnt top tier, you can read posts of me talking about it in the past. But now I not longer think that way. I played ryu, rufus, adon, balrog…And no other character gives me the security and options that akuma does, no one.
Vortex are too strong, the only option your rival has is to guess.
Mi advice for new SF players is that they shouldnt start with a character like akuma because you will never truly improve your footsies, if you want to get better at that, play ryu or some other character that really need to have good footsies to win with or just play another game that its not SFIV for a while.
Bye
I feel Sakura’s mid. She isn’t bad at all in AE. Good damage and stun combos. I think her main weakpoints are probably being zoned out by good characters in SSF4 and having less than average stamina against characters that can safely attack without being punished. Since heavy zoning is kind of nerfed, that improves her a bit and stamina is always there. When Sakura gets in, she gets in.
Bison’s wake up options aren’t that great, he needs meter to get away or block. When he’s in a match up and he doesn’t have that free offensive or defensive space to build meter you can limit him to blocking and then mixing him up.
I think akuma palm is plain bad game design. Vanilla akuma with some recovery on palm and throw would be a perfect character in super (with the nerfs to other tops), but then again these revisions contain a lot of goofy tweaks.
