i’d switch honda and rufus around.
move rose higher, and drop bison, blanka, and deejay lower.

i agree with juri’s placement but she shouldn’t be higher than ken, adon, rose by any means. and she beats elf? lol ok.
Thanks for the heads up. Updating OP.
A)depends on who makes the tier list
B)in chess they tabulate tournament play data based off of players of different ranks to determine side advantage, which is way more accurate IMO than saying player A you play against player B 100 times and come up with a number(which I’m sure doesn’t happen anyways)
I think with SSFIV data people are scared to give out 7-3’s so you end up with characters having “hard” and “easy” 6-4 matchups where one match is closer to 5-5 and the other closer to 7-3.
Speaking directly from my character experience, putting Blanka vs Cammy/Boxer in the same realm of vs. Hakan does not have to do with empirical data. A competent Cammy/Boxer player will not lose to a Blanka that much if they know the matchup, and Blanka actually beats Hakan when he isn’t oiled, the problems only arise when you let him get oily and try to fight him when he is.
I want to know what changed in the last 5 months to make Akuma beat Blanka, and for Blanka’s matchup against Boxer to magically improve. Did someone run a set and those were the numbers or what?
Discuss the matchups, and don’t obsess over rankings. The whole bottom of B tier is separated by one point, but that’s like 8 ranking spots.
The changes for Bison from August to January:
Now 6-4 (from 5-5):
Akuma
Ryu
Gouken
Now 5-5 (from 6-4):
Cammy
Abel
Guy
I can’t really agree with the fact that Bison is listed as having the same advantage over Akuma/Ryu as Guile does over Bison (6-4 Guile). He can lame them both out pretty easily though, so I wouldn’t disagree with the advantage.
Abel I can see as being 5-5 since he destroys Bison once he gets in, and can ultra all of Bison’s escape options on reaction. It’s probably in Abel’s favor more than anything. I would think Cammy is pretty much the same, but I don’t know that matchup well enough.
Both Champ and Vance have a repository of fairly solid, IRL, players out here. I can’t think of a character that does not have at least one solid above average player dedicated to him/her for both of them to run matches against, let alone pull info from. It’s a pretty active community out here where a lot of people enjoy being “king of (fill in character name)” on top of being king of the hill.
Tier lists aren’t perfect, but I trust their overall input. If I have doubts, it isn’t because they lack solid play time against 95% of the cast.
i dont agree with all the top tier having the slew of 6-4’s against the bottom, but other than that, the list is pretty close
its almost like obligatory 6-4’s with top vs bottom. i dont believe that some of them dont at least draw even with some of the top. namely sakura’s matches. she has to have some evens in there
I respect Vance a lot, he is one of my favourite players out there but I just cant agree with zangief having the same matchup with juri than seth or chun (or even sagat). Hell, just look to his matches against ricky or haneyama vs zangitan, if that´s not a 7-3 in chuns favor then all his other matchups should be 5-5, and they are not.
Sakura matchups seem more guessing than actual knowledge of the character, makoto and few others too.
Problem with this is a character tier list becomes a borderline PLAYER tier list instead. I can only speak from the perspective of the characters I play but I know for a fact vance’s player abilities makes some redonkulous matchups better than they really are.
I’m in favor of GRADE tiers anyway as others have mentioned.

I think they got DeeJay’s rank right on the list. I don’t really agree with Viper MU being 6:4 in Viper’s favor. Her Burnkicks can easily be beaten by JKM’s, especially EX JKM’s. That and the combination with being able to Focus her BK’s and Seismos makes it worse. To me she doesn’t have anything really advantageous on DeeJay. That one I would say at worst a 5/5 leaning towards DeeJay and at best 6/4 DeeJay. I also think DJ vs Adon is 5/5 leaning towards Adon only because of his footsies. Other than that it’s pretty easy to stuff RJ’s and JT’s. JK’s can be stopped with AS’s and JKM’s depending on the range. Other than those everything else seems right.
juri matchups were done by juicebox most likely
I think f champ is off on a few of akumas matchups, overrating him a bit. Imo the ones he overrates for akuma are: cammy, boxer (boxers favour), rufus (rufus favour), dhalsim, blanka, adon, guy and maybe rose. 9 or 10 points too high.
press step kick
Fei long does not have 22 matches in his favour - fact. I’m done with these lists. There are not enough decent Fei long players out there to give up that data. Honestly that’s more than Akuma. Total bull.
Hmm…I think if you switch Ken to 5-5 and Dudley to 6-4, Fei’s alright.
Goes even with Dudley my ass…
Wild Hippo Addendum: Does anyone else think that the borderline retarded downplaying of a top tier character’s strengths that happen in certain forums is part of a deviously devious plot most foul to detract the oh-so-awful-and-enough-to-stop-playing-character bandwagoners? Crazier stuff has happened…
a lot of the 5-5s on that list seem like guess work
yeah so now akuma cammy is even and we even beat blanka lol…i can agree with the boxer matchup, but rufus and cammy do beat akuma and blanka is even, not in akuma’s favour.
Anyways, who the fuck is playing akuma when doing those IPW tier lists? Tokido? lol
Elaborate on why rufus beats akuma, im listening. 5-5 at best.
Dont go with the he kills me in 1 combo argument, please.
I agree cammy is 6-4 against akuma tho (no, its not 7-3 sorry akumas out there. skill > player aka allioune > eu)
Pretty much. Guile risks that entire match even just BLOCKING that move.
