SSF4 Tier List Thread REBOOT Super + AE (Updated: 02-01-09)

Probably because akuma doesn’t have viper’s ridiculous damage/stun output and because he doesn’t have like 10 ways to combo into his 500 damage ultra?

Akuma is just as strong, just less annoying to play against.

And btw, I like Viper as a character…As for fuerte, well he’s just dumb and really makes you feel like you got randomed out when you actually happen to lose.

I’m sorry, did I say that? I thought I said you just have to guess with more options. You probably panic like hell when you get knocked down which makes their okizeme harder to deal with. Akuma’s vortex is rape but, unless it’s Tokido level mixup, just blocking can save you.

Abel is different but what I like to do against characters like Abel is mixup his mixup. So I might jump the first time he step kicks me, then I’ll backdash, then I’ll just block, then I’ll reversal etc. That way HE has to guess what I’m going to do which makes the whole mixup easier to deal with.

Similar to not teching a throw, then backdashing the next time you think they’ll go for a throw, then throwing out a jab or short the following time, then blocking etc.

Sounds like a personal problem. Gettin’ mad after a wrong guess? Fuerte just makes it more obvious. Calm down.

lol

10 characters

Gief…possibly/probably Hawk…Maybe Cammy/Ken (even / in cammy/kens favor solely because of DP…and im feeling fairly certain cammy/ken can outpoke the twins)…possibly rufus (im thinking he can outpoke them as well with st.mp / st.mk …and his divekicks are just as scary to them as theirs are to him) … idk this is all just trying to take educated guesses on my part. I can see Chun as doing well against them if she can keep them out.

I always put mix ups in the player specific catagory, not character specific. All you have to do is work out whats going on, and how to counter it. That might take 2 or 3 games, for some it might take 2 or 3 rounds, others just won’t take the time to sit down and think and rub it off as “randomed out”. There’s a lot to be said for blocking and not pushing buttons.

Re- The Twins, Fei Longs CW beats out the palms plus he has U2, he might have an advantage.

i have a good feeling that sagat will beat the twins

I’m sorry but what?
Akuma’s ultra doesn’t need to ability to be combod into because it does retard damage.

And Akuma is HIGHLY annoying to fight against when you’re a character naturally disadvantaged to him. Try playing any half decent Akuma with Zangief and tell me how annoying the shit shit is.

Walk, block, walk, block, Oh fuck he air tatsu’d away, walk, block, lucky ass EX Hand OS, oh fuck he’s teleporting TIME OVER

“SHIN MOAUISDHAUSHDANSZUHRWESD HAJI TO SHEERAY”

“FUCK!”

he is boring to use…
she is boring to fight against…
he/she is annoying to fight against…

These reasons have no ground.

what might seem boring to some (chucking sonic booms xn) is fun to some and vice versa.

You could use that argument about literally everything ever.

“Oh he killed someone innocent. We think it’s wrong but he thinks it’s fun.”

My friend choked on his soda when he read that one exchange:

Mago: Hi I?m Mago. I mained Sagat in Vanilla, and now I?m using Fei Long.

KSK: Hm, why did you go with Fei? Is Sagat no good?

Mago: Sagat?s probably gotten a lot better in AE, but I think Fei is more?.

KSK: …Fun to use?

Mago: No, actually Sagat?s more fun <-- point at which he spat out his soda. Like that Japanese guy in the pic that showed the difference in Zangief’s LP SPD grab range.

lameing someone out doesn’t infringe on their rights

Comparing runaway Akuma to murder is pretty much taking character whining to a new level.

thread continues to spiral into the gutter

  1. Zangief is the ONLY matchup where akuma has to fight runaway. It is how it is, gief can kill me with 1 jab, 1 spd and 1 ultra, why the fuck should i stay close.

  2. Viper’s ultra damage is very close to akuma’s and it can be comboed basically off anything. Ok, it’s not easy unless it’s a corner setup, but it IS possible and a good player will be able to do it.

Haha, we’re talking about Street Fighter. What does it have to do with murder? The closest thing IRL is ragequitting or throwing sticks snickers, tongue-in-cheek

Annoying characters will always be annoying if you think they are. Deal with it or play something else, Capcom ain’t changing *** for you. From watching AE videos… I think Gief > twins, but characters who can keep him out with long range pokes can really lame it out without his old EX-GH. His SPD range seems GREAT but it really doesn’t get momentum going because he’s out of range to do anything scary after it anyway. EX-GH knockdowns really gave him a comeback factor outside of ultra. Now he’s just a second wall you try not to get trapped in the corner with, a la SF2. EX-GH is now used for pushback almost entirely. Jab SPD was improved because he needs to be able to grab pokes more easily… but he still has to predict when you’re going to do them else he gets punished with the combo of your choice - the buff isn’t massively able to grab you if you don’t stick anything out.

If you guys want to beat Viper just pick DeeJay. Upkicks>Burning Kicks.

No but seriously I would like for the discussion to get back on the topic of Tiers. Speaking of which where do you guys see DeeJay and Guy (my 2 mains) placing on the new tier list for AE. I think DeeJay will be mid-upper mid tier with his increased damage output, more combos, and faster AS recovery. His AA is still godlike. Only thing that really keeps him from being top tier IMO is that opponents can get an easy CH off of his AS now. Other than that he’s so much better. Hurts my heart to play SSF4 DeeJay now. lol As for Guy, with the much needed improvement to his TC he can get more consistent damage since it only whiffs when you have improper spacing in AE vs whiffing at random moments on Super. Also the 3f cr.Lk will be great for his pressure/block strings and his 3f close st.mk are definitely great. and if i’m not mistaken he can combo that into st. mp right? so that means he also has some new combos as well. I feel he’ll be low a solid mid tier now with his buffs.

i agree with this a lot. im sure fuerte players are having a blast getting KD after KD. i just hate fighting against it.

in any case, its all relative

Yeah, I like playing against fuerte. There is a guy on my scene who curses to high heavens every time he plays against a fuerte.

I don’t care about the tips. I just thought it was laughable that someone thinks that working okizeme is on par with playing a solid ground game, because it involves making reads. Or that somehow someone with less reward on getting a knockdown is just as threatening as ones with more. that’s simplifying it the rest of the game outside of bare concept of knockdown pressure to a great degree.

I completely disagree with the first statement. Dive kicks beats lariat if its high enough, once the dive kick hits its an easy combo.

I’ve come to understand that most Giefs aren’t accustomed to getting rushed down cause they think were scared of SPD or Lariat so they play a lot of footsies. Atleast that’s what I experienced.

I’m an Akuma/Gief player and I approve of this message.

I can probably count the number of AE cabs in America on both hands and we’re supposed to talk about AE’s tier list? Aside from listing every character’s change which has already been done ad nauseum, what exactly do you expect from most people here? Barely anyone’s even touched it :stuck_out_tongue:
