SSF4 Lessons with Justin Wong, Mike Ross, Marn and Gootecks

I’d compare it to getting a lesson from a golf pro. He can break down your swing and tell you what to practice at the range. You’re most likely not going to see results your next round, but by the end of the season you could be ten strokes lower.

MIKE ROSS can pick Dhalsim and still land a HUNDERED HAND SLAP on you!!! (go figure that one out?!?!?! lolol)

It’s possible I would pay Gootecks for some pitching lessons. Rumor has it he can throw well.

Lol at paying a lot of money for Boxer lessons.
(Spoiler: Try to footsie your way in. Apply safe pressure while fishing for c.jab, link c.short, cancel into headbutt, juggle ultra, then jump in constantly with your jumping roundhouse and mix up your powerful jab block strings with tick throws and overheads.)

I hope Gootecks doesn’t sue me for giving away the above ‘trade secrets’.

I might pay Jwong like $5 an hour for some footsie lessons. That’s about it. He is VERY good at that. Search for the youtube video of him beating a Gief in Vanilla with Fei Long. That was impressive.

What could they teach you online in one hour that you couldn’t gain by reading Guides here on SRK and watching stream Archives on youtube? All the info is readily available to you, it’s just a matter of taking the time to look it all up. Not to mention things that just can’t be taught like reaction and adaptation. Two of the most important aspects of being high level in any fighter.

No, 35-50$ is not a lot of money by itself, but its a lot of money to pay for something that you could get for free with a bit of work. And it’s not like you’re gonna get a lot out of just an hour of play no matter who it’s with.

if i was as good as them i’d be doing the same shit. cant be mad at them

I can do all of Chun Li’s bread and butter combos. I am still a terrible Chun Li player.

See the point?

he said for instance, so you’re the one with arguments flying over your head.

the point is that the lessons will help you some but it won’t transform your level of play to something completely different. You may apply a couple of normals better/anti-air more consistently, but an hour with these guys doesn’t replace actual practice and experience.

When I first heard about the idea, it seemed interesting.

I’d never go for it, tho. Not at all. I pride myself on getting good in my own way–which is through completing trials, and fighting the CPU on Very Hard. Ryu’s AI is on-par with Daigo.

I wonder if Wong would give lessons on the side about hairstyling.

Combos are much more significant than most people will give them credit for. A player with perfect execution but mediocre character knowledge will do far better than a player with perfect matchup knowledge and weak execution.

The sign of a good troll is that you’re not sure if they’re trolling or just really stupid.

^I was only kiddin, skipper. Fall-back a lil bit.

I’d rather have Flash Metroid teach me Viper.

nice one

it was ridiculous 10 years ago, when you could pay swedish fps pro’s, and its still ridiculous today

pay for information you can easily get by asking people on SRK for free

There’s no reason why you should be paying…even i got good after training for hundred of hours and playing with my characters. you can? access the information you need to get better for free on forums and by watching tournament level play…getting better it’s a slow process, there’s a limit on what you can learn in 1 hour…and it’s not much. probably nothing.

hah exactly. This is actually more comman (and more expensive) in the FPS scene. If they are actually doing it then i take it as a sign that Fighting games are getting more popular, so thats good.

But ya its not worth it. lol Even if they were the best teachers in the world, im not the best learner. At least i cant learn much in 1 hour. Just put in the hours playing ppl better then you

It is worth it if you ask the right questions.

Oh damn. I did not know this. 50 dollars hell no. Go to tournaments and make friends, then put them on your friend’s list.
