SSF4 Lessons with Justin Wong, Mike Ross, Marn and Gootecks

can’t knock their hustle. if people are willing to pay them then they’d be dumb not to take that money. they aint running no charity and it’s not like if they don’t ever play at arcades. remember if you want free advice/casuals most top players are accessible via local events but we’re talking about online training here so I can’t hate on anybody that wants money in order to play online cause that shit is trash.

that being said, I wonder if gootecks offers atleast a partial refund if you manage to throw him 3 times in a row

street fighter players are poor. I was surprised how many people at Evo thought a $20 MM was a big deal

The title of this thread should be: “Who has a job and who doesn’t?”

lol thats hilarious.

50 bucks is change. thats not a “omg im so rich” comment its just truth. when people can drop 150+ on a TE stick or buy a PS3 for just one game, saying 50 bucks is expensive is a joke and hypocritical.

something is worth whatever people are willing to pay for it. if people are going to pay these players to teach them for an hour, so fuggin be it. props to them for being at a level where they can get that money. most of the people complaining wouldn’t hesitate to charge people if the situation was reversed and they had the skills and people were willing to do it. i know i would.

How would them manipulating your fingers help you? I can 100% guarantee you these lessons have absolutely NOTHING to do with combos outside of maybe them saying “ok, this is the combo, link this chain that, practice after the lesson.”.

The lessons are meant so that the pros can observe your game and tell you where you’re making mistakes. No fucking shit they won’t be teaching you combos, combos are a very miniscule part of SF. Where they can help you is fundamentals, what normals beat what, best pokes, best AAs, etc., and as I said already, point out what mistakes you’re making so you can practice them. Basically, they’ll be helping you with what is by far the most important part of your game (fundamentals).

Sure, they can’t magically make you into a better player, but they can tell you EXACTLY what you have to do to become a better player. That’s all the lessons are meant to do. Think about it, in an hour they can make a list of every single thing you need to work on and how you need to work on it to improve, or you can spend months on end learning those things for yourself and still possibly get them wrong.

The fact that some people think it’d be anything other than this is amazing to me.

this is 2010. not like they got a secret book of SF shit. anything they could tell you, you could find out for yourself with the proper research, practice, etc.

with that in mind, i doubt they are doing this for any halfway decent players. you know where you stand if you would pay for this

id pay to pick daigo’s brain tho. he thinks on a different level and it would be very interesting to get his approach to playing

requoted for emphasis.

When Jwong was offering this yesterday on his twitter, one of the things he was offering was teaching people BnB combos.

Read the post above yours. It’s about them telling you what your mistakes are and what you need to work on, not necessarily teaching you shit you didn’t know before. Also I suspect there’d be matchup specific help involved if requested.

AHAHAHAHAHHAHA me? Pay Jwong $50 for a hour lesson? O plz… Thats the amount of money i get every month (im only 16 ppl) And you think i would do that when i can go to WNF and better with good ppl myself? Sorry not happening.

im sure if you go to tourneys nd talk to people or have any friends who play, they can tell you what your weak points are free of charge.

mopst people just let their egos get in the way, and never accept any criticism from people they see as peers

if you are going to pay money for it, and are half decent already, you are probrablly a nut hugger

**
or who wants to get Jobbed and who doesnt**

this is retarded. does Mike Ross even know how to use any other character besides Honda? plus when was the last time you heard Gootecks winning or even named in big tournaments?

Gootecks is just trying to raise the funds to replace the stick he broke.

Yes, I know about the stream monsters.

this is a joke. Why don’t these people get a day job or something, seriously. They obviously not making enough money from gaming, if they have to charge fans 50$ an hour - to hear their stupid voice on twitter giving out some pointers in a video game.

This kind of scam reminds me of those adverts you see of millionaire entrepreneurs who are offering lessons out for cash on how to make people millionaires themselves. It’s all a load of shit.

I’m going to hit up Gootecks. I could use some work on my throws.

That shit is soooo good

/thread

I can see people wanting to play top players to level up their game, but this is a tad ridiculous

No it shouldn’t! We’re discussing Jwong/Gootecks/Marn’s training sessions. Wtf does that have to do with jobs? ur dumb

If tokido or sako were doing this, I’d probably pay…

well, maybe not…

Sektr, its obvious you don’t even read any details before you reply to anything. That is shown by the number of responses you make that really don’t make any sense. You should probably try reading a detail or two before you **think ** you know what the fuck you’re talking about.

Oh, and yeah, it was mentioned already up above.
