SSF4 Gen Combo Thread

Ok so I’m getting sick of Shotos mashing out SRK’s in the middle of my combos so I stopped trying anything except "TCS into hands on block or Gkiro on hit if I can catch it in time. But after watching so many people get away with c.lk c.lp TC2 etc I want to get back into it again. Problem is every time I do I get SRK’d or SP’d right out of it and I end up punching something IRL >\

I have to Say SF4 is very frustrating coming from a SF2 back ground. Things that should be easy (standard link combos) are hard, things that should be hard (SRK) are way too easy. I even find myself mashing out Gekiro’s and feel stupid every time I do because it used to be something I had to time perfectly with the correct motion. Now I just mash hoping it will come out if my opponent misses a link.

Oh and does Gen have a crouch Tech in AE because I get thrown so much in this game, it even seems before I even get up sometimes I’m thrown. I’ve never been one to complain about throws in SF but in SF4 it feels so cheep to be thrown before I’m even on my feet again, I guess I’m used to people fearing to get too close to a downed opponent, but here they just walk right up and in your face like it’s MVC and I feel so helpless. It’s a really strange feeling because in SF2 if they get too close when your down you can punish them with a wake up throw or at the very least block a meaty attack. Sorry I’m venting here I just hate to lose to seemingly simple things.

Any advice in teching throws on wake up or other wake up options would be awesome!

If you are doing MK try to do it as meaty as possible and press PPP as soon as it hits. If you are doing a Fierce or Round House just pause a second, you have quite a few frames of advantage before you need to do your next input.

i find it if u crane j.mk just watch the animation just b4 it hit change to mantis tap hpmkhand or geiko easy to do

any tip to land st or cr-lp-lp to hp consistency?

Why are you doing c.Jab, c.Jab? You get 10 more damage with c.Short, and it starts off low. If your opponent isn’t blocking low and you always start your combo with c.Jab, you’ll miss out on combos.

i do mix it up with cr.mp i so used to throwing after jab ssf4ae

if you start with c.jab, I’d get out of that habit really quick. You’d be missing out on starting more combos.

K no use in yelling, I just thought you were playing people who knew how to play this game.

You do realize that c.Jab hits HIGH and LOW. You aren’t starting anything unless they aren’t blocking. Stop starting your combos with c.Jab.

I never combo with cJab, did I say that? I use c.Short. it hits low and looks cool. I mean I hit alot of combo with c.Short because my opponent forget to block low, especially after an empty cross up. sorry for the wrong impression

i must say fadc combo are awersome to do and make me feel great all i wanna do now is get 3 bar and quater of 4 th bar and facd x2 combo in an match for fun

hi exhand - mantis u2 doesnt work on every1 right? like i been testing it out work fine with all the charge char but doesnt work on ryu ken ithink bc i alway seem iim out of range to land it

Character specific right now. But might work on every character in AE 2012 due to start up buff.

His wake up or vs other characters wake up?

It WILL work on every character, counting both of a simple U2 or a kara U2. I’m pretty much sure.
