SSF4 Gen Arcade Changes

I agree with Zerodemise. I like Gen’s new Crane jump as well. Being able to land j.HK x2 on standing opponents is great. If only he had his old Mantis jump.

I would like the devs to give Gen a faster roll…just like or almost like Vega’s roll. Ex-Oga must return, if Ryu can ex SRK through almost any move (ultras & supers included) then why can’t Gen have a escape move. His current jump is fine because it makes using crane j.Hk easy but if they were to somehow change it back then that’s fine too. give him back his old meter build…I don’t really care for U2 and I know they will not change the mantis U2 to the alpha one so why bother asking -_- lastly, if they could add a little more stun to his normals or buff them I would be content. The new target combos are a welcome add but they better not think their finish.

It should’ve been switched anyways. Crane should have a jump arc like it does now. And Mantis should be a low jump arc.

A command Jump would be an interesting Idea. We have command dashes and super jumps, kinda mix of both, where Gen jumps in crane from one edge to the other with normal jump properties. That would give him a great zone character.

actually that’s a pretty good idea…both styles should have their own jumps. It is annoying how Gen will completely miss a jump in while in mantis because of the jump arc

Gen should have the MOST options in the game… He is a MASTER assassin instead you make him look weak. He should have the MOST ultra setups should have ex oga… and gekiro should have the same hitbox for ALL versions… no whiffing on Gekiros that is rediculous… keep his damage low and allow the old super meter no gen fan will complain…

Has there been any additional info on the supposed HP->MK target combo? I was wondering if Gen could get the full 2 hits from HP before doing MK. I’m guessing that answer is no, though lol.

If its possibly to land the two hits into mk that might just help his meter gain a tiny bit. Let’s hope there will be more target combos to include HK and Cr.HP in future Builds of AE.

I’m currently assuming that Gen will never get a chain/cancel/link from a 200 stun normal, so I’ll guess no on that as well.

Does any1 have more precise information about Teiga speed? Like, is it his start-up that is faster, or is it his travelling speed… or both?

Apparently its clear that they want us to be sufficient at being defensive in crane from full screen/mid screen while punishing against projectiles/pokes at any point of the match,
while increasing our dmg/meter potential at close range in Mantis…The character is looking better and the nerfs across the board are making him appear like a stronger character…
still waiting on the final build to see what they give as something “New”. I expect a few hitbox changes in crane to be increased in range and frame advantage while Mantis gained more frame advantage for those “Easier combos” to continue the pressure.

sounds good to me mantis was his pressure style in alpha 3 while it seems crane was more about his pokes and his rolls to hurt the fireballs. although i barely have any game time in alpha so im not very knowledge about him.
i want him to fix it where he can punish someone fireball with his roll. damn thing is just too slow it seems.

Hmm sounds like you’ve got some experience playing the new AE build. Or is it some speculation on your part.

To be honest with you, I think Gen was made to be a frame-trap character for ssf4. His roll although slow, was part of one of his key frame traps. (crane) cr.lp xx mp/hp-roll.
I figured it out by accident, and when I started using it. It worked.

If they continue to make Gen in that sense, then you won’t see any rolls go under fb.

Good stuff from all people here - my knowledge of game mechanics is scrubby compared to a lot of SRK posters but there’s a lot of interesting suggestions. As has been said on here before, they really went to town with Gen in Super, changing almost everything about him in some way. Hopefully some changes will make more sense now. I agree with making him more allround and buffing other things while removing the mk hands loop, they just didn’t do enough. Just some slight buffs would help a lot.

In general i think they should avoid nerfs and just buff lower tier, but if they do take down Hondas damage a tad, I’d be sympathetic. I just laugh when I see my health bar after sumo dude’s obeasted me with a combo.

imo he needs MORE range on his kkk c.lk (and on his karathrow of course :P)

make U2 usefull on shotos as well…hell, make ppp U2 worth SOMETHING

I’m going to be pissed if they make all these changes for the Arcade version only and not make all these balance changes DLC. It’s not 100% if the Arcade Characters are even going to be in the game as DLC.

Will we see the new arcade characters as DLC on the consoles?

they better i mean it just changes, other then the new moves some characters get it should be easy to patch the changes. the only problem it could fuck up the trail mode, but they could find some kind of fix for that.

although i do want to try my hand at yang, since i do like playing him a little bit in 3rd strike.
