SSF4 Gen Arcade Changes

Of course they will bring it as DLC, the software wont only go into a damn arcade machine.

I’ve yet to see anything saying any Arcade changes are going to be DLC for sure. I doubt they won’t but… there is a but. Since it’s not 100% confirmed just talked about very losely that’s why I said it would piss me off. Ono even stated that Yun and Yang aren’t 100% confirmed DLC.

I got this feeling that we won’t see the arcade changes hit console until mid-spring or early summer…just like Super. And it would make sense if Capcom does this because they very much want to earn a lot from the arcade release. If they release these changes to consoles early then it could hurt them, so for now we will have to wait it out.

from a company point of view april relase would be the most logically, not only to give the aracde some exclusive time to boost seeling, but also because march is the end of the current bank year, hence releasing in april will increase the prognosis of capcom’s net gain for the next year.

Just take A2 Gen. Tweak some hitboxes. Beast mode.

man this thread is TL:DR everything, but it feels like the same old gen wishlist stuff that his forums are filled with. Cool that ppl interested and hopeful for gen after all he went through however.

My lazy thought right now is if capcom doesnt want to think or test much balancing for gen, just revert him to vanilla SF4…how unfair could that POSSIBLY be?

Sorry, I know this is a bit off-topic but is there a reason people differentiate the Ultras based on Crane/Mantis? Last I checked Gen can do either regardless of which stance he is in.

Actually, no. But you can abuse the input leniency to switch to the correct stance and press PPP / KKK again. So if you want to make sure you do an Ultra, always press PPP / KKK twice.

It doesn’t matter if he could do it regardless what stance he was in. why would someone just say “Ultra” Without being specific… both are used for different scenarios as well, one can be combo’d in where another might not be able to combo. If someone with a floaty jump can be grabbed by Gen’s Crane Ultra 1, if we just said “use ultra 1” how the hell are we going to know which ultra they are talking about. Mantis Ultra 1 might not even work, as where Crane Ultra 1 would… So you see, saying Mantis or Cranes makes all the difference in the world. All characters have 3 punches and 3 kicks, you don’t see people saying use, punch, punch, kick, kick, punch, super… how would they know what punch or kick to use?

I checked, you’re both wrong. Went into training mode, did Mantis Ultra immediately followed by Crane ultra. Recorded inputs, nothing in-between the two except for the ultras. Doesn’t matter what stance you are in, although it looks like he switches post-Ultra to whatever stance the Ultra belonged to.

^then you negative edge the input. you’ve to press twice, which you do by coincident aswell.

Funny fact if you are playing in a pad (or a stick) with 3P/3K buttons:
First, do crane c.LK, then buffer your Ultra input so that it would come out as soon as recovery ends. You press 3P button once, and Mantis Ultra will come out.
Second, do crane c.LK, do the same thing. You press all 3 punch buttons instead of 3P button this time, and Mantis Super will come out as long as you have full meter. You can check your input and make sure you press all three at exactly the same time.
Third, do crane c.LK, do the same thing. You press any 3P buttons a bit later, and you end up switching stance to mantis.

You can be in Mantis and do Crane ultra by using QCFx2 KKK there is input latency. But he also asked a question why we differentiate the Ultras based on stance. My current post still stands. Just saying Ultra doesn’t help much when you are trying to explain what you are doing. Plus there are a few instances where either ultra could be used. Like after Mantis Super.

Updates hae been flip/flop lately. Ono says one thing that the VPs didn’t approve his request to bring AE characters to console as DLC then says they might. It’s just a head game right no IMHO. I try not to read any of Ono’s tweets and interviews as they are so damn iffy and can be really annoying.

I’ll keep lurking the Japanese BBS whenever possible, and I can guarantee you I’ll translate Gen’s dev blog as soon as possible, when it comes out.

As you can see from Ken’s LP SRK change:

His LP SRK is likely to revert back into vanilla. Maybe we can expect something of Gen’s to be reverted back.
