both mantis MK are special cancelable? they already are
cMP is now special cancelable? it already is
airborne after backdash invicibility? same
There is no hittable box from his ankle with sHK? take a look at gen’s hitbox data… sHK does not have this problem at all (no hittable box exceeding the red hitbox range at all), the only mantis normal with this “priority” weakness is sMK…
So as expected most of the blog was on his new TCs and some improvements on his mantis normals. If AE gets imported down here and I find nothing new in his crane normals then Seth will forever be a stone cold liar. I’m pleased they at least put away the nerf stick…but overall I was hoping at least LK geiko would get improved to beat out any wake-up jabbing but I guess not didn’t get the chance to read the rest of blog…wonder what Makoto got
Update: wow Makoto gets more stamina but Gen can’t even get at least 950 -_- smh
Exactly what I was thinking. But I guess they mean that both mk’s are special cancelable when chained into? But then what are they talking about with c.mp? Or are these changes from a previous build that we don’t know about?
I wish they’d drop their habit of trolling and teasing for Gen when the player base is already pissed off and wants some transparency from the company. And it wouldn’t hurt for the dev blog to actually sound like they knew what they were talking about, at least when it comes to rebuilding trust with the Gen community.
Still, his damage output, meter building, and pressure look like they’ll get a bit better.
How so? everyone who main Gen had hopes for Capcom to get things straight with him. However, I don’t blame anyone who find these changes pointless…it’s very frustrating. I see good things with his TC’s but I think it’s not fair he couldn’t get a slight stamina buff like Makoto but whatever…it is what it is (shrugs)
Don’t mind people saying we’re negative. Most of them have no clue on Gens actual situation. Like in the main AE thread everyone is saying Gen got buffed nicely, but they don’t really understand that none of the actual issues have been adressed.
Sure Tc’s are nice and all, but most gen players don’t need this easy combo shit as theyve been practising mk hands and other crazyness since the release of vanilla/super. The only hope might be that those Tc might open somewhat new combos that do some more damage than his current bnb’s
Very dissapointed nothing is mentioned about crane changes that Seth said would be there, and no word on meter gain, ex oga, gekiro changes etc.
When I heard TC’s from seth during the interview, I had been hoping they were for Crane, not mantis. I was hoping we’d get more special-canceling moves from crane, or at least a TC into c.lk or high-low game.
Although not having serious issues like Gekiro nonsense and Oga invincibility addressed, I guess I can say taht I am just happy he is getting better at all as opposed to worse. Seth DID mention that there are changes that will be discovered by us and I hope that means all the stuff he mentioned about Crane style being improved. Perhaps the wake-up option for Gen in AE will be an improved Oga, which might help a bit.
I just need to see some better meter building and more reasons to be be in crane other than cycling through BS Genanigans. I think I am just tired of winning matches on silly set-ups/opponents lack of knowledge of Gen’s abilities, rather than hard counters to player mistakes/match-ups. It completely feels like I am just zoning till some one messes up, then I punish and whine about how much work is needed to get the piss-poor damage Gen deals.
I guess that as a character, Gen is super-duper unrewarding as he is right now, and this doesn’t seem to look like it will get better based on the recent changes.
I think that it is best for us as a community to be positive though, as we really never know till we get our hands on it and have some serious lab time with the new changes/matchups.
I would like Gen to be a freaking poking monster. You should be afraid to get into a medium range battle with Gen. I would really like it if he could actually have dominance in that middle-close range. As it is, there is no range or situation in which the opponent actually fears Gen’s options and that is BS.
I would like it if super/rolls was able to go through fireballs easier. Gen needs viable options that make him dangerous, not just options for the sake of having shit to do. It is true what the members of the community are saying, what the hell use are the TC’s if the entire Gen community are, for the most part, advanced when it comes to execution? Useful changes are what we need.
New shit is nice i suppose, makin a hard character noob friendly doesnt fix his fuckin problems at all, Just makes it easier for the scrubs in this thread that i have never seen in a gen forum till today, to pick up the character without understanding his engine FUCK THIS GAME!
Tell me that gens damage has been raised
And his meter Building has gotten better
seems that sometimes hands area better option for wake up than gekiro, not to mention that ex hands are fast as hell and push you out pretty far on block and break armor…I wonder if that is supposed to be the wake we use in general… In my experience it beats stuff more often. not to mention it loses to BS like crouching jab on wake-up less. You can also fadc out of it/super out of it and all that sillyness. What are the drawbacks to hands on wake-up vs gekiro/oga on wake-up? at this point it seems like a more viable option.
Someone already asked about “Is gekiro improved? Does he have any viable reversal GTFO or escape move?” an hour after dev blog came out
It has 0 invincibility and loses to meaties 100% of the time. Basically you have to hope the opponent either: isn’t going to attack you right when you wake up, or mistimes his meaty if he decides to do so. It also loses to neutral jumps 90% of the time on wake up.
But you already said it loses to crouching jab, so I’ll assume you know that.
Great idea, except it doesn’t work against ambiguous jumps/cross-ups. It would also have to depend on how far the opponent already is with his jump in, otherwise he wont be knocked back at all. I’d say hands are more of an mash oppertunity for certain blocked moves such as bisons scissor kick (I punish with hp hands).
If they decide to answer THAT question, then yes, it’ll be up next week. If they decide to answer some BS posts like “He got buffed! I’m looking forward to using him!”, then I think I’m going to keep playing AC Brotherhood from now on.
I’m guessing they will not, in that case. I can already see the stupid Japanese politeness coming into play with bullshit like ‘Gen-sensei SUGOI!!! <(O.O)>’
Impressive changes. I’m so glad they’re making 3 moves cancellable that were already cancellable. Clearly they don’t have people working with the character that know what they’re doing when I see shit like that. I guess s.hp > s.mk is good for crouchers? Whatever, I’ll just main Yang… this is stupid.
