SSF4 Akuma thread

I like it how Akuma is now. They should, however, make it so that the demon flip kick is an overhead.

i think his jab also needs to be faster. why is ryus jab so fucking fast? akuma is a demon and according to the sf history he is the strongest character. nearly all the moves from ryu are better than akumas. akumas uppercut is realy strong but the range is very little. also i hate it to hit the other character only with one hit from fierce dragon punch and he won’t go down but i’m open to be punished. why should akuma be punished after hitting his main weapon? they could give his ex shoryu more range and remove the hitting “bug” that would be great.
a faster air tatsu would also be great. ryu also has the fast air tatsu.

a more damaging fireball would also be good but i think that he would be too strong then.

Em I agree that Akuma is fine the way that he is currently, but I don’t think it would be THAT Earth shattering to add 2-3 more frames of invincibility on start up towards his Ultra.

Honestly, keep in mind that a teleport can most of the time being beat by a common sweep.

I am in G1 and each time I activate teleport, i eat a sweep. So i’ve learned to use it more wisely than before.
Don’t need a nerf, or more recovery frame, when you main Akuma you know that you have to not spamming it.

I think akuma played at a High level is very good. He has good moves and projectiles. The only thing I would like to see is the fixing of his ultra. It’s so god awful to watch and see it miss or bounce off and even end up on theother side of bison to get owned lol!

Also is his demon flip gets an overhead so should cammys cannon strike :slight_smile:

then tell me what characters are stronger than him? ok there is ono but i wouldn’t count sf3 to the sf history because it plays after all the other sf. there is another character which akuma fought and fleed but that isn’t also a sf4 character.
ok you could say that in sf4 akuma has not his real power but then capcom should us give shin akuma.

You should probably stop worrying about the story.

It’s so convoluted and split between USA and Japan that really it’s pointless. It’s even more pointless to bring up story elements in a thread about balancing a character.

The gameplay is what comes first. The story is an afterthought.

ok you’re right but also in the gameplay ryu is superior to akuma. the tiers say 5-5 but i would say that it’s 6-4 for ryu for too normal player. i know that akuma can be very good but it’s a lot easier fighting with ryu than with akuma. and the game should not be for pro’s but for the normal players.
if capcom tweaks ryu then everything is ok but if not the should also buff akuma.

If I had to guess, his buff’s will be a bit more stun, POSSIBLY more health (though I doubt it), maybe more shenanigans with lk Tatsu (like he had in SFIII), an air ultra (hadoken more than likely), and they’ll fuck with his HK

WTF you cant ask them to buff Akuma so bad players that dont know their character can do well with him. Then the good, dedicated players are going to dominate with him.

I’ll be happy as long as they don’t nerf Akuma.

I would rather say that capcom has done WAY TO MUCH to help out the buttonmashers in this game, revenge/ultra, lenient inputs, special window duration,absolute guard, reversal window duration… probably preaching to the choir here :slight_smile:

Gouki usually is a character that looks like “the shit” for people not that involved in sf due to his arsenal.
But as they diog more in to it, they realize hes more dificult to play than they thought due his health/stun handicap, and that to keep his pressure game going you need both really good timing and a creative mind, otherwise you will be to predictable and eat dmg out your ears.

Ofc casual players should be considered when designing the game, but not at the cost of competetive gameplay.

i do however miss his tatsu and dive kick shenanigans from 3s.

no. there are certainly a few ways to make a character easier to play but only at low/mid level like the shortcuts or other things. that things don’t help the pros but the beginners.
if they make his pressure game too easy he would sure be op but they could make it a bit easier.
if you look at momochi’s newer vids he is loosing against daigo and he certainly is one of the best akuma players and can do everything what akuma is able to do.

How are you eating sweeps with a move with that much invincibility and that much distance?

Do you play nothing but Elf’s?

Could be baits. I play Bison, and when I fight G1 Akuma’s, I see a lot of them that just automatically teleport when they get knocked down. ESPECIALLY the moment they get into a corner…just a matter of being the right distance away, and waiting patiently.

Ok, but who else could be sweeping a Gouki if he is being pressured on wake-up or trying to get out of a pressure string.

I mean…that’s when Gouki should be teleporting. To get out of dangerous 50/50’s and frame traps. Not mindless spamming.

up untill G1 90% of the times you can spam tele without even worrying about retaliation, so i understand why alot of ppl find it OP.
Hell alot of the “semi high ranked” sagats and ryus try to do the same jumpin on wakeup every knockdown, not untill you teleport away for the 4th-5th time they realize that they have to adapt.
