I’m not sure if this was said, i did a search and couldnt find it, but why not make his demon flip kick hit as an overhead? At first i played him assuming it already was an overhead until i saw people actually blocking it in a crouching position.
0 frames coming out of teleport, and allow 10 frames of super awesome demon bufferingness.
He’s 2nd or 3rd in all of the recent Japanese Tier lists, and the most recent arcade BP details back it up even if the Japanese tournament results don’t.

Akuma gets to run away for free. No character should have a get out of jail free card that doesn’t at LEAST cost them some meter. I doubt you would like to entertain the idea of his teleport costing a bar of EX meter, so more recovery only seems fitting. I don’t think anyone wants it to be like missing a shoryuken, but having a bit more recovery on the teleport would balance out a lot of his match ups, while not really changing his game. Like Nin said, he will just have to use it more intelligently…
I would still rather fight Mago than Daigo or any Sagat over an equally skilled Ryu. At least when most characters get in on Sagat, they usually own him. Just gotta watch out for throws, TKs, and Uppers that reset his zoning game.
Ryu is good at zoning, but he’s also good inside, too, so you don’t really gain too much of an advantage by getting in on Ryu…

But I’d rather face a Jap Sagat than a Jap Ryu any day.

Akumas considerably low HP is a good enough reason to have teleport the way it is i think
I think it depends on how much they’re going to balance the game. If they end up majorly buffing the cast, then it should stay the same. Also, you have to take into consideration that they’re probably going to remove his HK loop, which is a powerful tool for Akuma, so I could see how you could make the argument to keep Akuma’s tele how it is. I was just saying as it stands currently his teleport is pretty stupid good, as the other poster said it’s a get out of jail free card.

Even with the health disadvantage many pro level players consider Gouki to be right next to Sagat.
He needs no changes. Now according to Capcom everyone is going to get buffed so I dunno what they have in store for Gouki, but he really doesn’t need any tweaks.

I dont get everyones problem with his teleport. When smart players bait my teleport, they make me pay for it. I have baited other Akumas too, and I can punish them fine.
Are the people who are asking for a nerfed teleport Akuma players? or have you based your opinion of the teleport by playing against him?
I dont see the need for any buff or nerf for Akuma. If they give him a combo-able fireball Ultra, it will more than likely be low damage.
I’m no Akuma main, but I do dabble with him from time to time. He’s too good for my personal tastes, so I don’t play him often.
His Teleport is easy mode. There’s no way around that. Some characters can bait it. Some can trick him into teleporting himself in the corner. However, even after being tricked into a bad situation, he can still just teleport away from it and toss some more air fireballs at your ass.
His teleport isn’t super uber broken or anything. But I think it would even out some of his matches, if he had a bit more recovery at the end of them. Not massive recovery, just maybe 2 to 3 more frames of recovery after. This won’t effect the start up at all, so you can still teleport out of bullshit for free. However, if you’re teleport was predicted, you’ll pay for it.
It only seems fair to me. As it is now, it’s just too easy for someone who does good damage, has good keep away, good footsies, and good mix ups… Hell, 50 more points of health and folks would be in here flaming this thread like they do the Sagat thread…
A lot of his match ups are pretty even. The only match up where the teleport really helps is vs Elf and Gief(everyone runs from gief anyway).
I think for now the best way to even match ups is to first buff the lower tiers.
I agree, while his teleport is fair in some match ups (like Ryu who can ultra him if he tries it), but it’s unfair for a lot of characters like Abel who’s mix ups are essentially nullified because the AKuma player can just mash that boy mindlessly and get out of any mix up attempt. It’s just a mindless tactic, I’ve made a post on mashing in general and I want it to be gone. His teleport without the ability to mash and maybe a few more recovery frames would be really balanced. Since, they’re improving all characters, even Sagat, maybe they should just leave his teleport recovery how it is and get rid of mashing.
Mashing helps anyone with a decent reversal. To stop mashing you could tighten the reversal window or get rid of absolute guard or shortcuts.
If they tightened up the inputs and reversal input, that would make it where scrubs wouldn’t be able to runaway all day… But it won’t accomplish much at high level play, since they can pretty much tag reversal SRKs in ST with it’s ONE frame reversal window.
Regardless, unless all the characters get sped up, it needs 2-3 extra frames of recovery.
Yeah honestly it’s the ability to mash that really helps out Gouki’s teleport game. Because of this his tele is a little too free.
And yeah alot of people can bait it but only a few can outright punish it. Maybe reduce the distance it goes so if you bait it successfully anyone can punish?
I play Sagat so I can just make him eat a Tiger Shot or an EX Tiger Shot. It’s not much but it will still make him think twice with his low health, but alot of chars can’t even get that measly little bit of damage.

Exactly, it really hurts characters like Abel. I feel really dirty mashing that shit when I play an Abel, but fuck it ain’t my fault Capcom allows this shit. I’m going to use whatever advantage I can and who can blame me? Really though they NEED to make it so he can’t mash it out.
