I agree, there’s no way it’s a 6-4 mu and when ur up against a player like Tokido who’s probably the best Akuma in the world I really think it’s closer to 8-2 or maybe even worse.

I actually saw that and didn’t want to bring it up lol. Looks way tougher than a 6-4 to me. You can even look at last years evo with the Vance/Infiltration match. I don’t think he took a single round either.
Next time I see Tokido I will money match him. I didn’t at beat by contest because I didn’t have the spare cash but I hope he comes to SVB or something.

On another note, another gief in London, Problem XX, reaction EX SPD’d hazanshu (chun) which has made me completely re-think the use of EX SPD (i didn’t use it at all previously) - I think there might be some scope for its use in this match. For example in Tokido’s match against Aqua at 3.26, Tokido does a poorly spaced dive kick thing into a cr.mk. Though you may have been able to normal SPD him there anyway.
some good players like to safe jump you or jump bait your lariat on wakeup, ex spd can be great against that.
but reaction ex spd on things like hazanshu or rekka is really really hard.
if you can reaction ex spd on hazanshu, you should not have problem reaction ppp on hazanshu
but I dont think I have seen gief player who can consistently do that even the lariat , especially when you are focused at zoning game and poking .

Fair enough. Perhaps the matchup is just made worse by the fact that it’s Tokido’s Akuma. I don’t think any American Akuma approaches his level so it’s difficult to get matchup experience. Yea, Aquasilk played about as gdlk as Gief can play against Akuma and still got blown up. I’d say it’s a little worse than 4-6. I wish yall could’ve played a longer set, tho.
what you saw on stream was not me at my best I was too nervous it was my 2nd major playing Geif so of course I have my doubts but I said fuck it and went with it anyway in casuals and off the stream I played a lot better and used all my shit which includes o/s ex ghs and a bunch of other shit next time I expect a different out come

On a different note, what do y’all want for gief in ae 2012? Off the top of my head the only thing I really want is KD on ex gh, anything to make his unbearable match-ups better. Its probably too much to ask, but something to deal with sagats st. rh would be appreciated, I mean with high low tigers, tiger uppercuts and knees, I never understood why sagat needed a close range normal that owned gief.
They should make EX GH kd only outside of combos, so if wedo it to punish fireballs we get kd. This way it balanced his retarded matchups and the other ones are pretty much the same.
