…because…
lol at those scrubs thinks zangief beats yun
his ex command throw basically beats all of zangief’s ground moves. and has 1.3 range…
cool yun video.
if anything upsets me the most with the AE changes, its getting used to the post SPD green hand to close the gap. i remember hearing that the timing of it for optimal positioning and i was like, naaaah, but now it is very real. either way, i’m looking forward to how things settle in over time. i should probably start using U2 more often, too.
Probably because Juri can punish it from full screen and with ex it can be combo’d into ultra…
If Juri is standing there not doing anything and with EX bars, sure, but that is not happening, is it. Juri is charging up fireballs from full screen etc so while that is happening, whiff a grab while at a distance to build meter.
i second this … if gief got like a whole bar from doing one… then yeah lol . why would you whiff a move that has fucking terrible recovery… i guess when worstgief plays does it… he has instant recovery and can’t be punished …good shit
he was clearly not in range for super… super’s range is a joke. i would like to see the same thing done with gief doing ultra1 ? it will rape his shitty command throw…
edit
if its so good, i would like to see it beat abels ex tornado throw… that’s the true testament
This isn’t a new game, it’s been out months and Gief is definitely better than in SSFIV. The mix up after ex hand is better than any ‘vortex’ (which he didn’t strictly have) from before, jab spd range is silly and some of his worst match ups (blanka and Seth) are better. He’s on the next tier down from the HK trio.
Aside from the fact that Zangief was terrible and you can tell he was mashing the fuck out of ultra to even win the second round anyways since we are posting vids.

Edit: BTW that’s Yang not Yun in the vid you posted sswyu i know his hair can be mistaken for a hat it happens.
he is in the super range
the twins’ ex command throw has throw invincibility, so it beats all of zangief’s throw , just like abel’s tornado
yes that’s yang,my mistake, so it also means he is in 1.2 super range, because yang’s ex command throw is 1.19

I can only laugh, seriously , why you dont just stand next to your opponent after ex KD in vanilla or super.because all you got now is even worse than that.
jab spd range silly?? seriously, You cannot visually tell the difference between 1.75 and 1.65, 0.1 that’s 1/9 of the zangief normal throw range? want to know much is that ? go to training stage and see it yourself.
I have seen some scrubs commenting on zangief’s AE videos like " insane spd… incredible range" like that
but the problem is all of the spds in these videos can be also done in vanilla or super. maybe mp spd will catch them too.
that’s funniest part, his only chance is mashing , but just before yang is about to finish him with last hit, his super ends. LOL.
About the video you post, aside from the fact that ruskof is a great zangief player, though an ultra mashing zangief player can be a good player, a random ultra yun player can never be good.
@sswyu Thing is that Gief wasn’t that good to start with aside from forgetting to block who just throws an ex hand out like that smh.
I already thought about dropping Gief a year ago because I got bored by chasing Akumas, Ryus and some other characters across the screen all day. But I kept playing him because at least I had a big payoff after every knockdown.
The last games I’ve played in AE… man, this was boring. Chasing after even more characters even longer because of less knockdown possibilities… I felt like Vanilla Fei Long, grinding my opponents health down.
And no, I didn’t always lose. I had over 10000bp in Super, and if you think that’s no measure for skill, then you’re right. But at least it means that I played a lot, and it was fun. I feel so stupid having to guess after a non-knockdown EXGH every time. In Super, I felt like I was the one creating the offense after an EXGH, I felt like I was the one dictating the pace of the game. Now I feel like “Hm, let’s try to do this… oh gee, he mashed SRK. OK, now let’s try this… oh gee. he backdashed”. Sometimes it works, but even then I think it’s stupid. All this guessing just… bores me.
Does anyone else experience this too? Am I Missing something? I mean, I don’t say Gief’s weaker than he was in Super. I don’t bash the character. I jst want to know… maybe I’m doing something wrong and I don’t have to switch to Vega or random Oni.
lol, dont fear to say zangief is much worse, no doubt about that. he really is.
the commentator in ncr9 just said that japanese said zangief beats twins, but it not seems like that in ncr9, maybe the Americans were doing something wrong.
but he forgot that Japanese said that was when AE just came out and people really didnt know how to use yun then,
zangief has a very straightforward play style and tactic. but yun ,you have to do more research.
just like they once said Zangief vs Akuma is 6:4 when vanilla came out.
the recent fact is Itabashi zangief got 0:10 by daigo’s yun, so it’s just not about what’s zangief player was doing wrong, it’s about what the yun player was doing right,
It’s a MU in the twins favor just like I said ages ago.
Gosh, I didn’t realize this thread has become so active. I posted this thread out of curiousity because I was interested in possibly having Gief as a secondary in AE, lol. Just changed the title to something more appropriate. Sorry about that.
when I said oni is zangief’s new bad matchup, it seems a lot of people here dont agree, because they can beat scrub oni,LOL
you know how oni should be played?
zangitan is pretty much free against eita’s oni
LOL. never ever judge matchup based on scrub’s play.
Well free you say let’s see

so , 3:1 , ye. it’s better than 2:8 anyway.
